Another question - Learning to drive a motorhome

Late with my comments but here goes... I had a 27' class A for a few years... it had issues with the roof and leaked like a sieve... I traded it for a 27' class C no preference as far as an A vrs a C but the C had more of what I wanted and needed... if you feel that you need pointers in driving maybe you could go to the local school and find out who trains their drivers they just may be able to help you out... believe me once you have your MH you will soon be able to maneuver it fine... I also suggest renting a MH that way you will see what you can live with and cannot live without...

If you are anywhere near Lazy Days - there's one in Tampa and one in Tucson - their driver confidence course is free and only takes 1 day. It's not a complicated course, or long, but you won't be afraid of the size of your vehicle once you take it. There are also free videos on the Lazy Days RV Sales web site you can watch that demonstrate the same methods they teach. You wouldn't think, from watching these videos, that it would help, but it truly DOES help and the videos give you everything but the actual driving experience. Once you know the tricks you find size DOESN'T matter!

I am definitely planning on being an on-the-go RVer. I'd like to keep moving, staying anywhere from 2 days to a week at state and national parks. My plan is slow sightseeing, hitting as many national parks as I can. I figure I will stop for grocery shopping as I go, maybe once a week???

Maybe eventually I will want to stay someplace longer, but I don't see myself living in a "resort" park. My goal for now is to see the U.S. and Canada.

I had a 27' class c that had twin beds in the back which made a separate room. There was a dinette and sofa in the front. The dinette didn't have anything under the seats so they could have been taken out. The sofa had an outside storage compartment under it so it couldn't have been removed. If you get one with carpet you will probably find that it is under everything. I think that's what they put down first. A dinette would probably just be screwed to the floor through the carpet. That was my favorite floor plan. Having a separate bed room makes a big difference if you have someone with you. What I had to watch the most was driveways that had a dip or an incline. You have to be careful or you will drag the rear end. I would think that a 30' would be even worse. That and having to watch that you didn't wipe someone out with the rear end when you turn. I have a 23' now but don't think I could full time in it. It is very easy to drive but has very little storage. An extended trip would be ok if I didn't have to bring everything I owned.
