Wet Wet Wednesday

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Wet Wet Wednesday

Postby Brewsterivy » Wed Nov 16, 2011 6:11 am

Good morning...I figured as long as the dogs got me up at 5 am I would put some good use to my pitch black morning and open the coffee room. We are expecting rain for a couple of days and then a nice weekend again so we can't complain. I don't know how the Zicotti Park people made out in the rain last night since Bloomberg took away their tents...If it were me? I'd head home to a warm bed and a hot shower... :)

Yesterday was a weird day.. I recently renovated my bathroom and decided to change the towel and toilet paper bars. In my usual haste, I took down the old ones, removed the screws, could not get off the plastic thingies that the screws go in so I hammered them into the wall, made dents in the wall, spackled the wall, sanded, painted the spots and got out the new towel bar....same size - would have slipped over the old screws beautifully....AGGGGG - is there an icon for a silent scream? :o Now I have to perfectly measure the distance for the screws..

Then I stopped off at an elderly woman's house (says the elderly woman) to trim her cat's nails. She gave me a baggie full of freshly made biscotti...yummy. I saved them all day and last night I made my tea and was going to settle down for a nice biscotti and could not find them. Well, I finally did find the zipper part of the baggie in the dogs' (plural) bed...another silent scream please. Well, actually it was not so silent.

Sue, you asked if I would take the trailer out west. I don't think I could take it with this car. I would probably have to get a truck or at least rent or borrow one. My car is fine pulling the trailer on level highway, I-95 etc., but I can really feel the pull going up mountainous areas..like going to Soos's Ruckus in the Adirondacks. Remember, I was the one who bought a bigger car so I could better pull my Scamp, then sold the Scamp and bought a bigger trailer, now I need a bigger car, at which point I wwould purchase a bigger trailer, etc etc etc...

Have a great day everyone no matter what the weather.

Good morning Carol and all who stop in later. I woke up about 4:30, turned the TV on and watched Antiques Road Show. I'm not sure but I think it was Winnie jumping on the side of my bed that woke me. I've had a hard time with the time change this year. By 5:00 I gave up and we got up to start the day so here I am with my cup of tea. I hope you have a less frustrating day Carol, sure wish we had one of those biscottis to share :D

I took LC to her winter home yesterday and they promised to take good care of her. The two women in the office thought she was just the right size and as I left there were visions of the possibility of a life after retirement they hadn't considered before dancing in their heads. It still surprises me that so many people are shocked to learn women do travel in RV's alone. I had one very young woman look at me in horror one day as she declared, I've never spent a night alone, I would be so scared without my husband

Not sure what I will do today, I may have to choose between giving Charley or Winnie a bath, sorting things to sell on eBay or going shoe shopping. Gee that's a tough one :P

GOOD MORNING CAROL, BJ, AND ALL!

I, too, was wondering if the camping in those parks would diminish with the rain and with the cops taking down the shelters, tents, etc., Carol. I have a feeling that most protestors might have lost the original reason sfor these demonstrations at this point, anyway. I am sure the homeless people were ecstatic to find places to crash offering shelter and food! The old bigger truck-bigger trailer dilemma has hit home, eh, Carol? I know I am now wishing I had bought a Ford Super Duty to haul over mountains with, but my 150, as you say, does just fine on these nice flat roads.

BJ, your day bathing puppers sounds downright wet! Glad you have a safe place to store your RV, and that you perhaps recruited some other 'brave' women to try taking to the roads! We are women---hear us roar!

I am so disappointed that this laptop doesn't have enough virtual memory or speed or both, plus more, to be able to use Skype. Sometimes I can see Mandy and the baby, and talk to them, but I can't attach my camera and have Mandy see me without freezing up. I am so disappointed. Some day maybe I can afford a new laptop.

It's hot here already today, and quite humid----I LOVE it! This means another swimming day for me!

Alice, do you have any brand names of trailers that will disconect and connect without the hub connection that would be a permanent thing? I would like to be able to just ride the bike sometimes, as well as haul stuff and Molly. I guess I can look around, but some of the descriptions aren't clear as to how to connect the trailers. I figured if you had any info on them it could be helpful.

Tomorrow I will be having my attic fogged or steamed or something (am going to call pest company back today to get better details of what in heck they are planning to do, what chemical they will be using, and argue with them about the poor service I got last year after paying 469 dollars plus the 200 to renew my termite contract.) They found no termites yesterday, but will be upgrading the contract to be more inclusive of many different kinds of termites. I am furious that they plan to charge me 300 dollars more for this service, as I paid through the nose last year. Now they are advertising free inspections for new customers. Later I will call them and argue.

Off to pay some bills now as it's SS pay day for me. 300 of it might be destined for the pest company right off the bat.

Here's hoping you all find something fun to do today!
Life is about learning to dance in the rain
Happy travels!

Good Morning Carol, BJ and all who follow,

Carol, despite your frustrating day yesterday, you did give me my morning laughs. Yep, been there done that with the screw holes. And of course, the next time we all do the same thing all over again  Sorry you lost your Biscotti. But I have a feeling that there's one contented dog sleeping someplace around there. Been there done that again here too. Tessa is a counter surer and if I don't watch her, she will swipe anything that looks good within the edge of the counter. So I just make sure I push it back from the edge. She's had a couple of nice hot dog, lunchmeat and pork chops snacks along the way   As to your trailer, it sounds like a new truck is in the future if you head west. You can carry so much more stuff along on a trip like that.

I've been noticing a lot more solo woment travlling around this summer than I have in a long time. But I too have had a number of them be surprised when they find out I tow a TT alone. Some say they never gave it a thought and some say I'm really brave for doing that. I've also had a number of people who know that I am heading into the U.P. this weekend, ask me if we were going to take my TT and camp up there. Fraid not.

Some of you on this forum have inquired as to whether we are staying in a cabin or what. Here is a link to Maple Ridge Resort, the place we are staying at, http://www.mapleridgeresort.net. But I am dreaming of staying in a little log cabine at Christmas though. Now if I could find one to rent someplace..... Maybe a Smokey Mountain Christmas......

Just hauled my one bedspread out of the washer and into the dryer, threw a blanket and one of my fleece jackets into the washer, so am getting things going around here. Today, I am moving into the front bedroom, so want to get the bedding on the other bed washed up for my friend to sleep in. Will be heading down to Waters (the small village, near me here) to get some fresh ground beef to make spaghetti sauce for our trip. Will throw all the indegredients together and let it simmer most of the day. House will smell so good. Bought a half of a Honey Spiral Sliced ham yesterday and am fixing that for dinner with some sweet potatoes on Friday. Brenda is making cookies, cake and putting together pie fixings for our Tday dinner plus the bread dressing.

So time to be off. Lots to do today. Move into front bedroom, get clothes laid out and ready to pack, make lists and check them twice , walk the dogs, make the sauce etc. etc. Tomorrow afternoon will be shot cause I have that unemployment workshop to attend in the afternoon. Also trip to store for some more things to take north.

Off and runnig here. Have a great day all. Rain, shine, snow or whatever...

I've been up a while, but got to playing around on POGO, doing the dailies. I got a lot done yesterday, unpacked from the dam ride, laundry, loaded clothes in Hope for the sand trip, hooked the truck up to the trailer so son can put it in the driveway for me, turned Hope around and backed her in the driveway so she's ready to be hooked up to the trailer, took Chewy and the RZR out for a ride to make sure it was running ok, went to the PO to pick up the mail....whew!! Gotta wash the RZR today and make sure I have all of the stuff in him that he needs, go get 15 gallons of gas, Dr's appt at 4 and dinner at the daughters after that. Another busy day, for sure. Got a call from the doc, the ultrasound came out ok, didn't see anything unusual, so guess he'll want me to have the upper GI now. Even if I have an ulcer, can't see where that would make me so dang tired. sigh.

Looks like everyone else is busy as little beavers, too, so guess I'd better get moving here. Carol, you're to funny with your towel racks! Been there, done that! Carol (Asirimarco) travel safe on your journey to Mexico, Soos, have fun in the warm weather. BJ, I guess you're saying no more camping for a while! :D Those on the road travel safe and those having problems, take care!

GOOD MORNING SISTAHS!!!

Well it was before noon when I got in here.... Lost time reading and checking you ladies out. :D It's always a hoot to see what all you've been doing and what your planning to do for the day.

Had the door to the tt wide open last night until about 9 or 9:30pm and it's wide open again. I can sure handle that! Wish with all my heart that it would stay this nice but I know that's not gonna happen. :(

Went to bed last night really late so didn't get up until late. Gads I really ought to stop doing that!!! Simply screws up my whole day. Tho I really have nothing to do all day. HA I do need to check around, maybe ask the landlord if he's got a ladder I can borrow for a tiny while as I really need to get up on the roof and cover the vent lid over the bathroom before we have a heavy rain. There is a missing piece out of the vent cover big enough for a very 'fat' mouse to fit thru. Of course a mouse wouldn't be on the roof but rain drops and snow will be, so to prevent any future leaks into the bath I have got to get it covered. Some time real quick like I am gonna take plastic and cover the windows as with this old tt they don't close as tight as they should. With paying our own utilities we need to make this tt as sealed as we can. Don't want to lose the heat and sure don't want any frigid air sneaking it's way up my back. Not to even mention keeping my poor piggies as warm as I can.

OK, time to get up and poor myself some more coffee and check out a few postings. Hope ya'll have a super great day.

Love to all

Mentions of the Occupy camps, right on, ladies! The one in Santa Rosa I think is on the verge of eviction, the one in Sebastopol (all 5 tents) is sure to stay. I'm glad for the movement, but then, not sure who's really behind it, the good guys or.... ? Anyways, I hope something changes. Prices keep going up, a 10 year old truck is $10,000 how crazy is that? And it's hard to get financing on anything old, and who has $10,000 cash? Not me, not yet. At the used car dealership next door, a 1998 Saturn went for $6,000! It looked good, so I guess my 2000 Saturn with a few dings is still worth $4,000, what I paid for it 5 years ago, and many, mnay miles added since.

Speaking of camping in the rain, I went for a morning walk this AM, and passed by a homeless woman who was just breaking camp from the vacant field behind the RV dealership where I'm parked. It didn't rain, but it's always wet at night. Wierd thing was, as she passed by me, she said, "You remind me of Diane Keaton!" and I was listening to a radio interview with Dianne Keaton just the day before. As I walked around, I saw that someone had left a little red dome tent pitched, maybe it was her, or another homeless?

It's a nice sunny day here in Northern California! Kinda warm, too! But that will not last forever, months and months of cold rain are surely on the way! Must take advantage of the weather while it lasts! But I'm spending the day hard at work online, glad I have nice, big windows, let the sun shine in! :D

Good afternoon! Up at the horrid hour of 6 so we could leave for Yuma at 7:30 - tho left at 7 because I was ready. LeRoy had dentist appt in Algodones - I had an 'appointment' to buy booze while there. :) Tomorrow we will shop in Yuma. Friday the camper goes in for repair (I hope all in one day) and L goes back to the dentist for his crowns.

With the camper batteries not holding a charge, we are in an RV park rather than boondocking at the casino. However, we will go for the buffet tonight.

Carol, thanks for the giggle! Kathleen, glad to know you are feeling better! Sharon, do we just do ourselves in and get tired from too much fun?? Sue, Smokey Mtn Christmas would be awesome!

Safe travels to all on the road!

POGO!

Postby Anniepoo » Wed Nov 16, 2011 5:25 pm

Hey Sharon, I used to work for Pogo! I wrote the original Poppit, and the slot machines. One of the 'boink' sounds is
actually me, saying 'boink' , much processed. The balloons popping is my shoe being banged on my desk. 8cD

Good to know people are still enjoying Pogo.

Got bifocals yesterday. They take some getting used to. Glad I was in the RV - they put dilation drops in my eyes, I didn't want to drive for a few hours.
When I die I'm gonna be cremated. I can't stand the idea of spending eternity in a box with no wheels.
