My son and daughter-in-law-to-be are flying to Costa Rica to get married over the Thanksgiving holidays, so it will be just me and Molly from my family here. However, my friend, Pete, from the ORS group has invited me to his campsite (his winter home, so to speak) for a feast over there, and it's only a few miles from here (St. Cloud) where I will be cat sitting for the kids. I am happy to accept that invitation, as Thanksgiving all alone doesn't appeal to me much.....although I have spent many of them over the years since my parents died. I will bring something to contribute to the dinner....wish I had packed more frozen wild blueberries, but I left those for Mandy to make her jams and jellies for her Christmas presents. However, I can make some apple crisp and bring some vanilla ice cream to put on top of it. I just hope they will have a way to heat it up so it will be hot for dessert. Thanks, Pete!
After over 30 years with no stove or oven in my house (my oven caught on fire one Thanksgiving while I was cooking a turkey, and burned the entire appliance up----a really nice Jennaire stove and oven with a grill for cooking inside alll winter.) as I never replaced the burned up one. I HATE cooking, so I made do with my microwave, a stove-top electric oven thingy, a toaster oven, and a camping propane burner for the stove top!
Now I find myself with a new stove/oven in my Orlando house, and a stove/oven in my camper! I am so used to zapping frozen suppers that I sometimes forget I could actually bake something, if I wanted to! Mandy and Joe are dealing with my setup back in my winter homewhen they stay there! Perhaps they will see fit to try to find a stove for the place!
