Yes, Beth is here. Oddly I saw her turn onto 55 heading toward the park as I was heading out of town on Thursday. But I did go down to her site yesterday to say hello and visit a bit with her and Peaches. Right now we are a ways apart but the first of the week I will be moving to that end of the park and we will be closer. Looks like her friend Molly arrived yesterday afternoon. JoanE is still here too so we are all getting to see each other. Fun times except for the work, of course.

Happy to read that the Kentucky-bound travelers all made it safe and sound! Sorry about your repair bill, Beth, but what a wonderful feeling to have new shoes all around, from brakes to rubber. Your rig has certainly not done you wrong over the years, and now we can all breathe easier when you are on the roads!

Getting a bit colder here at 33 degrees now, but the sky isn't the menacing-looking spectacle I am hoping to see that will bring me some skiing snow! PLEASE, Mr. Snowgod-----send me just enough white stuff to ski on for a few hours!

The more people you talk to, the varying stories you'll here. Joan left today - in fact when I saw her this morning she told me she was going to leave tomorrow - and I went looking for her late this afternoon to see about getting together tonight and she was already gone. She never started working. Said some told her they hated it and that she was too cold. I also went looking for Vickie, but when I saw her earlier today she was going sight-seeing and color looking, and it appeared she hadn't returned yet. Molly and I managed all by ourselves

There are those who hate it, those who think it's survivable, those who come back several years, and others who swear they will never, ever do it again. It's a factory job. It's long hours. And it's TEMPORARY. After this season I'll see how I feel surviving two years. Right now I'm semi-planning to work in NV for them next year this time. We shall see.

It's not the best job I've ever had nor is it the worst. It is very physical, I've lost 4 or 5 pounds already. So far I do alright except that I am tired by the end of the shift. Some people have feet problems, back pain, etc. Since it's a dusty warehouse I do cough a lot, but I managed. Will I last to the end of the system? Who knows. When I get too tired I'll leave, if not, I'll stay till they send me home. In the meantime there are a lot of good folks here making some good honest money for a much deserved rest after Christmas. I missed seeing Beth today because I was out at another campground enjoying a fish fry put on by a co worker. Besides the paycheck the real reward here is the friendships you make. Worth a lot to me.

Vicki, I agree with you on the friendships. Without even starting the job, I met so many people at the campground who were working at Amazon. Everyone was welcoming and I exchanged email addresses with several so we can keep in touch and possibly hook up at some point down the road. Stay healthy!

I believe when there is a mundane factory job it pays to have a friend or two or three to ride back in forth with and visit a bit on days off... friendships build into our lives... no matter what factory work is never easy...
I keep an eye on the weather from afar hoping for a milder start to winter in KY for you all...

And, Kathleen, Molly and I will be forever grateful that you introduced us. It made it much easier for us.

That said, I'm not much of a joiner. Joan did things without ever starting working, that I never did last year and probably won't do this year - meeting up with folks in groups. And Vickie has been to a big dinner. Met a lady here on her own yesterday and what she doesn't like about where she is staying is the weekly potlucks and all the times they "get together" as a group. She's feeling pressured to do them, and doesn't want to. I suggested she come over here and we'll be glad to ignore her Don't misunderstand me, I like to meet the folks, etc - but for the most part, prefer small gtg's with a few. And if I never do any of them, yep, I can be a happy recluse.

Now, someone tell me why no birds have found my bird feeder? I'm afraid maybe it's the cooler weather so early. Hope some come back! We shall see.

Oh, and having a friendly neighbor is nice. I reached around and pulled a tick out of the middle of my back. Couldn't be sure I got it all. Molly to the rescue. I did, but felt better being sure.

Gave Molly my extra conversion to electric for a water heater yesterday. Well, she paid me for it today, so I guess the "giving" didn't work. She gave me a cover for my outside light, as it got damaged again. Funny - little thing like that, and I've had to completely replace it once, and now the entire thing is bent again. I think I got the cover in to stay, but if not, will be out replacing the whole thing again soon. Probably won't know that till I hit the road and bumps again.

When I got back from work yesterday, the honey wagon had been and dumped my tanks.

I've arranged with a teenager here to walk Peaches when I start on long nights. Last year she was fine without, but I think this will be even better. No reason for her to have to hold it that long. And will give me a bit of peace of mind. I worked with this boys dad last year - this year his mom and dad are both working. And they are on day shift, so if for some reason he can't walk her, one of them will. He'll be happy for a little pocket money.
