Wet Wednesday

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Wet Wednesday

Postby Colliemom » Wed Nov 02, 2011 7:25 am

Morning all,

A damp wet day here at the 45th today. Guess it's supposed to rain all day and into tomorrow a bit before it clears out. typical fall weather for Michigan.

Waiting for the carpet cleaning guy to come. Should be here in a while. I usually get my carpets cleaned twice a year, but didn't do it this spring, so now it's time. Only have carpet in the three bedrooms and my breezeway/mud room, so it doesn't ake him long. Once he's done, then I am heading into town. Need a few things from here and there.

The "girls" are wondering what their beds are doing in the living room, especially Tessa. But she's curled up in it anyway. Guess after 5 years of being a show dog and living in the kennel with carpet and blankets for a bed, she is not about to give up the luxury of a nice warm comfty dog bed, no matter where it happens to be.

Carol sounds like she's ready to do some riding in the desert areas. Enjoy it, Carol. AnniePoo has been busy at work, but managed ot check in anyway. Good to hear from you. Janice, I hope the snow goes away, so you can move on. BJ, sounds like all is well in your world at the moment.

Hope all's well with everybody else too. Those on the road, safe travels. Those under the weather, hope you get to feeling better. Have a good day all :)

Good morning Sue & everyone!

Sue, I hope your weather clears soon for you. You're always finding chores that need to be done outside and inside as well.

It's sunny but cold on the eastern shore of MD. I had a heavy frost on my car this morning coming into work. My better/nicer car is still in shop from the flood so I'm driving my 24 year old Buick Regal. Fortunately it runs but little things like the fan/blower motor doesn't run and scraping frost almost isn't enough on mornings like today. But I only have 1-1/2 miles to drive to get to my office, so it could be worse. On the good note, we're going to see 60 degrees today!

Remember back in June when my father fell and broke his ankle? He has an appointment this Friday to see if he and Mom can finally leave the nursing home and go live in their home. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that things go well for him on Friday.

I'm keeping everyone with problems in their lives in my thoughts and wishing everyone a good day.

Good morning from snow-blanketed southern NY state. We are finally getting back power, heat and water to the thousands of homes around the NY area. This was the craziest storm ever - heavy wet snow in October that toppled the beautifully-leafed trees. What a mess. Most of the schools are still closed because of lack of heat and dangerous trees hanging over the roads. It is funny how the smallest thing like flushing a toilet becomes a luxury. I finally used my Honda generator and it was just great, purring away on the front porch, giving me a light or two and some refrigeration. However, my beautiful Magnolia tree looks like it is cracked too far to save but compared to the damage others endured, that is not much to complain about. My niece had a huge tree come right through the roof into her living room. She looked up, left the house and went to her sister's for a drink!

I hope everyone in the Northeaster's path is okay and back on the grid.

Good Morning from Normal it will be a typical day here sun and clouds yes Sue fall is here... the colors are mostly yellow and brown now but that is nice to see... Sue I have a steam cleaner that works for my mobile home and my motor home... my daughter used the steam cleaner on the motorhome before I went to Michigan in Sept... that really helps to have it right here...
My appointment at the rheumatologist yesterday was long... she had x-rays taken of my spine and hips and called a pain shot doctor she wants him to inject my spine and hips to give relief... in the mean time it is more vicodin... I have my regular visit with my general doctor this morning and tomorrow morning I see the pain shot doctor... (so glad they could get me in fast) he will not inject me then as he has to schedule the procedure at a surgery center... so that is the story for now... sure hope things get straightened out so I can go to Florida before the snow flies...
guess this has wound up to be my doctors report lately... soon there will be tales of adventures on my way south! Wonder if I can find the abandon camp ground again this year...
Take care everyone... coffee here is pumpkin pie spice... it is rather good and a change...

So glad you are ok and that the power is back. We had a storm in '09 and our power was out for a week and trees were down every where. It is an awful experience to live through so treat yourself extra nice for awhile. Your niece seemed to have taken in well :D I hope your Magnolia tree can be saved they are so beautiful. I had a lilac bush that survived being covered up for several weeks.

My venture in search for persimmons was a bust yesterday, we were a little too late and there were only a few were on the lower branches. There wasn't any sign that there had been apples which I though strange, last year the trees were still full around this time.

Kathleen hope they can get rid of your pain soon and you can be on the road.

I hope the sun comes back soon for you Sue, we are supposed to get rain tomorrow but is is lovely now. Time to feed me and the dogs I've dawdled way to long this morning.

Gonna be another gorgeous day here in SoCal, 82 yesterday and close to that today. Still working on getting Hope unloaded, what a job! I think I probably had almost everything I need to survive in her, since I had halfway planned to go to Florida for the winter. Probably should have just left everything in her and stayed there since a lot of it goes back in for the Thanksgiving trip...10 days at the sand dunes. No matter what the weather report says for the week, you never know if it's going to be shorts or sweats, sleeveless or down coat, so I take it all.

Gotta get down to DMV and get the car registered. Ca is really sticky on how much time you have to do it in and isn't that how I want to spend my day!! Need a new battery for the RZR and get that started and make sure it runs for the sand trip. Motorcycle ride to Hoover dam on the 11th, but think rather than ride my own I'll just ride 2nd seat on the BF's bike. Just don't feel like riding and Bikey needs some work after sitting for 4 months. And oh yeah, need to make that Dr's appt today...he's closed on Tuesday's so couldn't do it yesterday.

Woke up about 4 having to go potty and then was laying in the bed and started to think of names for the new Jeep Liberty...well, it's a Liberty and gives me the liberty to take my buddies on dike rides and rough roads, up mountains to see old pine trees and terrify Evie while Diana and I laugh our heads off...so her name is Libby. Don't know where that came from, but for some reason it fits and I like it. Whew, glad that got solved!!

OK, off to dig Chewy out of bed, I tried earlier and she just "errrrr'd" at me and put her head back under the covers. Guess she wasn't ready to get up yet. Hope everyone has a great day and loverly weather!

Wow, Carol, you have already had a winter hit! Glad this one is over except maybe for the clean up.

Sharon, I have just a little camper to unload and I wonder if I'll ever get it done! I left a big mess in the 5er so having to deal with that - window covers, water containers, etc and the dirt that blew in over the summer.

Irmi, I hope things go well for your parents.

Kathleen, I was so hopeful that your period of 'comfort' would be permanent. Pain is just no fun.

The wind is strong here this morning. Can't believe we haven't been out on the RZR yet, but a big ride planned for tomorrow.

So many going through rough times of one sort or another so must remember them and be grateful for our blessings.

GOOD MORNING TO ALL!

Another beautiful sunrise and warm temps again----I love it! It took me about 20 times of trying to log on, but here I am. I am hoping I will do better while on the road next week, but I may possibly not get back on after Saturday for about a week.

Today I will get my propane tank filled, check tire pressures, fill truck gas tank, get some road snacks, and possibly go to lunch with Mandy and Orion at the Asian Buffet place, if he's not too fussy at lunch time.

Hope all are doing ok wherever you may be. I haven't seen any posts from Liz lately on either forum, so I am thinking of you, Liz.

Carol, I hope things are looking up for all of you who got snowed in and powered out! I just talked to my brother in the suburbs of Phily, PA, and they now have power, but their furnace of 33 years has picked now to quit! So they are talking with furnace people about replacing that in the midst of all. My brother had to chainsaw his way out of his garage after the storm, and had to get a cherry picker to lift trees and branches from his yard and roof. They were lucky in that none of the branches that landed on the roof were large enough to cause much damage to the roof itself. And here we are in the north country with nary a flake!

Happy Wednesday to all!

P.S.----I started this post on ORS when I got logged in finally, and, when I went to post it, I was taken back to the log in screen----hence, no post over there again today.
Life is about learning to dance in the rain
Happy travels!
