On The Road Again....Finally!

Postby sharon » Fri Oct 28, 2011 8:34 pm

I'm almost out of Texas, finally! Another 120 miles and I'll be in New Mexico...Whew! Didn't think I would ever get out of Texas. :o 'Course I'm not out yet and I'm certainly not holding my breath, but....! Had a good drive today, left Ft Worth area around 8:30 and figured I would stay in Midland. That's about 300 miles. But the sun was shining, the road was good, the wind died down, I had plenty of fuel, so I just kicked Hope up to 70 and made a run for the border! Landed in Van Horn about 6. I kept watching accuweather, stayed in Ft Worth a couple of extra days to miss 60mph gusties in Amarillo and it looked like the wind was gonna die down. It did...on paper...and then last nite it was back up to 50 mph gusts from Amarillo to the bottom of the Sandias. My friends said great! Stay a few more days and I said screw it, I'm taking the southern route! Which is why this is being typed in Van Horn instead of Amarillo! Still not sure if I'm going to cut up the I-25 and go to Albuquerque or just head for home. It's windier up there on the 40....May just stay on 10 and see if Jenny (Seeya Gal) in Yuma is free for dinner in a couple of days when I go thru there. Hope everyone has a great nite and I'm off to check posts, finish my wine and hit the sack.

Oh yeah, the new car is towing great! Yayyyyy!!!

I'm glad you decided to get away from those winds. No fun to drive in. And I'm gladder (yes, I know that's not a word) that the new car is behind you towing like a dream.

Van Horn area is usually my stop leaving Texas too. :). Balmorhea Springs just outside of town are fantastic. Safe travels tomorrow!

Sounds like everything is going good for you - that's a lot of miles in one day. Glad to know the toad is towing good too. Have fun!

So glad you are on your way! Happy that the new car is towing well. Hope you get to link up with Jenny and Dan (say Hi if you do). Nice weather back here right now - supposed to be 81 today, 84 tomorrow. Two nights ago I was digging out another blankie for the bed! That's Fall for ya.

Safe driving, good buddy. What's wrong with staying on the 10?

Miss you!
