Arrived in KY

Postby Bethers » Thu Oct 27, 2011 9:20 pm

I'm in KY - but didn't go looking for the other ladies yet. Molly will get here tomorrow. Now think about all the different ways she could drive, and me. Molly headed here from upstate NY. Me from PA. She left Monday, I was to leave Wed, but left Tuesday night. Yesterday afternoon, at a truck stop, an rv stopped next to me. I look out and there is Molly! She took her time and I travelled more miles yesterday, so she's a day behind now. So funny, though.

I've spent over 3K at Ford this week, now I need to find someone to fix or replace my generator and a computer geek to fix a problem with my computer (the highest priority right now is the computer). So, Amazon, I need the money you're going to provide me :)

Peaches recognized the park right away and was happy to be here. We walked to where we knew some of the water birds usually were last year and Peaches scared one away - so we're both happy. Rain wasn't too bad most of the drive and colors, while waning, were still gorgeous the whole ride.

Last year on November 1 I was kayaking here. Today - it's downright cold. Going to hope this passes and we get some more warm weather. But I hear snow is called for in PA, so I got out before it hit there!

Glad to know that you and Peaches have arrived in time to settle in and make the traveling/living money continue to flow. I have a question that came up as I was heading north earlier in the week. Does the park you are in stay open in November only for Amazon workers or are other sites available? I know that you guys work crazy hours but you know how much fun it is to have someone keep you company while you head off to a laundry mat on your day off! :o

Good to hear you made it and sorry to hear about those $$$ not being used for something special. But, costs are needed whether in a traveling home or a stick one  carold

I believe, because of Amazon, they will take visitors all of November, but it's just us come December. At least that's how it was last year. And, YES, would be great to have you visit. I'll know my hours and days off on Monday. Well, at least until the overtime hits, but that will just take up one of the days off - I'm not going to get that greedy.

Yes, it sure is true that most of us just can't seem to get ahead, or stay ahead for any length of time. You work all summer and then it all gets handed over to a mechanic. I spent $2400 on the truck in the last two months. Now my plan to stash money in the bank all winter starts $2400 less than originally planned, so when I am done stashing I will just barely back to "before the mechanic" or BM, as I like to call it. But, on the bright side, we always seem to keep on keepin on!

Glad you arrived in Kentucky safely... that was a great story how you bumped into Molly at the rest area... you two behave yourselves now and work hard so when I want to float a loan you will both have pennies to spare... lets hope you have a warmer stay this year...
Take care...

I've been thinking about you Beth, wasn't sure when you planned to leave Pa. , hated to hear you had to leave $$$$ at Ford place. So glad to hear your trip went well though, always surprising who we meet on the road, I love it. I'm with Kathleen, hope it isn't as cold this winter for you up there. So glad to see your post this morning and that all is well with you.

Take care,
CArol :)

Beth, sorry to hear that Ford made a big dent in your savings. KD, too with her truck.
I'm having the same issue with getting my rig up to snuff but it sure makes me feel more comfortable knowing that all is well with her.
I made a promise to myself that when my RV fund was gone, Little Missy would be too. As I bond with her I don't think that will happen.
We'll see what the future brings. Good luck with your Amazon job this winter. Stay healthy!

My rig will be 13 in 2012, so it was time to have the work done - replaced all the brakes, replaced the truck battery, replaced the tires, etc etc - money well worth it. Just might not have done everything if I had decided to purchase something else in the next several months. Doing it all means it'll stay with me at least a couple more years. And Ford says she's good to go. If only my weight would come off as easily as my money can go off to visit others.

Visited with Vickie today, then with Joan, and now am headed over to Molly's.

Even if you find a wonderful bargain in the next 6 months, it is difficult to argue about the peace of mind good brakes and sound tires can bring! :)
