Dreary Friday Morning

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Dreary Friday Morning

Good Morning all,

Not much doing in this neck of the woods this mornng. It's a drery cloudy morning out here but promises to improves as the day goes on.

I'm just munching on a Special K bar for breakfast, nothing spectacular in that department either. Don't know where this day is going to lead, but if the sun comes out later, I will probably head out and do some work around the yard here and there, but I will finish cleaning house this morning in the meantime. As you can see, things are very exciting around here.

Went to the funeral for my friends husband yesterday. His brother is a retired priest and did a wonderful mass. The church was pretty full. I would say between 4-500 people. Afterwards there was a gathering our at one of our local ski/golf resorts with appetizers and small deserts. It was almost 4 p.m. by that time, so getting late in the afternoon. I felt out of place in this crowd as there were a lot of people whom I didn't know. A lot of men, which told me they were probably lawyers from here and out of town as well.

Well, grab a cup of joe, tea, hot cocoa or whatever and pull up a chair, tell us what's going on in your life these days. Hopefully somebody will have something more exciting than this. Have a geat day all.

If it's a dreary day where you are, isn't it nice to know you can log on here with your friends and know that the sun is shining somewhere!

I'm rejoicing because I can hear better this morning....the ENT cleaned the wax out   So the birds are singing again in my world.

Today I will do some book keeping for the church....balancing the checkbook that hasn't been done since I left. The treasurer practically threw it at me. The assistant I trained before I left dropped the ball and didn't do it. My plan was to resign as an officer of the board since I will be here such a short time. Doubt if that's going to go over very well.

The whole town is busy cleaning and roping off yards; vendors are here setting up their booths, the porta-potties have been delivered...because tomorrow is the annual "McIntosh 1890's Festival". Thousands will descend upon this normally sleepy town. Streets will be closed to traffic and the streets flowing with crowds of people. Lots of Arts & Crafts will be for sale, and all the traditional festival foods too. Music and dancing (clogging) on the square. The churches will all be open, and our Child Evangelists will be Gospel face-painting and Bible story-telling at ours. I'll be helping out there, but hope to take time to walk through town and get some pics of the festivities.

Hope your day gets brighter and brighter!

Good morning Sue, Liz & everyone!

Sue, there's no doubt in my mind you'll find something to busy yourself, whether you're doing something in the yard or taking your dogs for a ride.

Liz, enjoy the festival in your home town. I remember you were there last year and seemed to have a good time.

It's chilly in MD today and we'll be in the high 50's all weekend. The wicked winds we've been having the past few days have finally subsided, although there is still a fall breeze. We'll be leaving this afternoon for Killen's Pond State Park for the weekend. It's been many years since I've been there, so I'm looking forward to going there again. Although the leaves aren't at their peak yet, we hope to get lots of walks in to enjoy the fall colors. I put a pot of beefstew together last night, so that will be our dinner this evening.

Take care & have a good day!

Good morning !!! Not dreary here, but cold. Busy day ahead, just wanted to wish all a good day.

Colors are not really out here yet, Irmi, but I'm waiting. I love them and usually love this time of year, but think its going to get colder faster then it should. We missed spring, hopefully fall is not going to fly by too :( :o

Liz, so glad you can hear better today. What a tease you are, with your sunny morning pic. Pretty though, sun is coming out here, just a wee bit slow to be showing really pretty yet.

What a surprise to see the pix of my new home in the rig section, Thank you, Tina. Sure glad Herschel and Maggie got together on that plan :P Now that the rain has passed, plan to get things I want in there today, from the older rig and if my ambition and day last long enough, will also get things I know I want out of here. So busy day.

Hope you all have a really Great day !!! Will be looking forward to the pix of the festival tomorrow, Liz. Enjoy your day painting those little faces :D

GOOD MORNING SUE, LIZ, IRMI, CAROL, AND ALL!

Thanks for the sunshiny pic, Liz! It's a real comfort to rain/grey/cold-bored eyes! I would love to be there for your McIntosh celebration---sounds like a great time! Irmi's weather sounds a lot like ours up here in the St. Lawrence Valley. Glad that Carol will get some sunshine today, perhaps! Sounds as if Sue's plans for Thanksgiving might pan out, and it should be a fun time for both of you!

Back I am in my trailer at Orion's----I can't believe how much he has changed in just the two weeks since his birth! He is about 10 pounds now, and has lengthened another inch and a half! Good grief, he'll be all grown up when I get back in the spring!

The leaves here are now mostly on the ground, as they are back at my house, and it's really looking very fally-heading-to-wintery. Cold and grey and damp here, and only 43 degrees out. I am really longing to see some sunshine!

Today I will take my propane tank to a place I think will fill it for my trip. I had no room to bring my full tank from back home yesterday. I still have my other full tank, but would like to start out with two full ones in case I have to run my furnace every night on my way down. I also need to go to WalMart and buy some new cheap pots for my plants that I brought along. The trip squished into the passenger side floor of the truck yesterday was no good for the brittle, cheap plastic, sun-damaged pots they were in. When I rounded a corner a bit too sharply, they all fell over onto one another and all I could hear was pots crunching! I plan to travel with them in my bathtub here in the trailer. Now I need to find room for all the other stuff I had in there!

Orion and parents are back in bed after an early didee-changing/feeding bout, so Grammasoo has to wait another while! It actually isn't raining out yet, so Molly and I will take a trek around the ponds and some trails.

I hope all those on the roads are going to have some decent travel weather and road conditions, and that you will check in as often as possible. Happy Friday to all!

Good Morning to All - Sun is shining brightly but it is almost freezing here in Tucumcari, NM - 37 degrees now - but going up to 80 later in the day - got to love the high desert. We will be staying here until Monday morning.
Maybe will change RV parks though so we will be right downtown.
Changing time zones is weird - I've been wide awake way before it got light. And now it is only 8:00!
Hope everyone starts getting nice weather and all those on the road safe travels.

Beautiful day here in NE Tx, sun is shining, light breeze and supposed to be warmer today. Sam and Chewy have had their walks, I've had my shower and I'm anxiously waiting a call from the dealership that my new car is ready to roll. The part we were waiting for actually did come in yesterday (amazing!) and I got a call from the installer around 2 with a question about the light hook-up on Hope. He asked "4 or 6 pin?" I said 6. He said "are you sure?" I said, this ain't my first rodeo. He said "good enough". End of conversation. He did assure me I wouldn't be here for Thanksgiving, maybe Halloween, but not Thanksgiving. Everyone's a comedian.

So while I'm waiting I'll dump and put the BBQ away, get a few things done and get ready to roll out of here tomorrow for Ft Worth. I could probably leave today, but who in their right mind goes thru the Dallas-Ft Worth area during rush hour on a Friday? Not this chickee! I've been here almost 2 weeks, another day isn't going to break me.

Carol, are you moving to the rv park I pm'ed you about, or did you find a better one?

Greek yogurt with a handful of Kashi in it for breakfast, but if you come over I'm sure I can rustle up something more substantial.

Just got a call from the dealership, car is ready and I have an appt at 1 to go get it!! Yayyyy!! Finally....hope this new baby is worth all of the labor pains! :D

It is sunny and bright visiting here in Wichita Falls. Those of us traveling up from San Antonio should remember that it is not as warm up here (except in summer when it is hotter) and pack more non-shorts items. Visiting with friends and seeing things that I haven't seen for 5 years. Enjoyable trip but I "didn't leave anything here" if you know what I mean. Well, maybe some friends but don't regret the move to San Antonio one little bit. Blogging about my trip if you are interested. See signature block for blog link.

It's a sunny day here and it's back up in the 80's but I don't have the view Liz does. My office window looks out on the front yard and there is a pile of trash by the road that I have been seeing all week. I don't know how many times I have told my DH and son that it won't be picked up unless the wood is separated from the metal. I went out and separated it once and they piled more on it. Grrrrrrrrr

It looks like it will be a beautiful weekend. I am going to pick up my motorhome from the shop this afternoon. Wish I could get in and keep going.

I got a Coleman waffle iron to use in the camper. I decided to try it this morning and it worked pretty good on my stove. It's not electric, you have to put it over a burner. I had the heat too hot at first. It cooks 2 small waffles in about 6 minutes.

Sharon, hope they get things right so you can get on the road. I am always leery about a shop doing something and hitting the road.

I stayed at a KOA in Tucumcari about 4 years ago. Not too fancy for the price they charge. They served a meal you could order. Not a gourmet meal but after 400 miles beats cooking. Not far past that I decided to head out across country South so I could get to I-20. The Tarantulas must have been migrating because I saw quite a few on the move. I picked up a lunch at a wide place in the road on the New Mexico/Texas border. I like to find Mexican restaurants off the beaten path when I'm in Texas. I look for a bunch of trucks that looks like the local workers are eating there.

Finally the wind calmed and so I moved to Green River Lake State Park in KY. This is where I'll stay while I workamp for Amazon. The park is located on a gorgeous lake. Weather is warming up over the next few days so it should be spectacular here. Just wish I could get more TV channels. Can't wait for Beth to arrive. I plan to meet some of the other Amazon workers tomorrow.
