Indian Summer Wednesday

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Indian Summer Wednesday

Postby Colliemom » Wed Oct 12, 2011 7:21 am

We've been enjoying a long stretch (11 days) of beautiful Indian Summer weather here, but today looks like it's going to be the last one. A couple of storms that we are going to be inbetween are going to filter cooler air and possible showers starting tomorrow. Our fall color was spectacular this year but now is fading away. It came and went fast this year and with the expected winds on Friday, that will finish off the leaves for the most part.

Been great fall weather for camping and I was glad that I was able to get in at least 5 days of it. Had it not been for having to be at work last weekend for our HalloweenFest, I would have taken more time. But a few days were better than none. For those who came up to the festival or just to enjoy the fall colors, it was a grand weekend. Couldn't have asked for anything more perfect.

I've been busy around here these past few days getting things done while the weather is good. Was able to paint some wood ties I have around the border of my house, my mailbox post, my neighbors mailbox post and a couple of her outside light posts. She is a widow and can't do any of the outside work anymore as she is 82. I myself and another neighbor help her out. She vhas her home up for sale, so we are trying to help keep the place looking nice outside. Yesterday I winterized, washed and covered my TT for the winter. Waaaahhhhhh.

So today as soon as the grass dries I am going to cut mine and the neighbors for what is probably the last time this year. My nice neighbor across the road came over yesterday evening with his lawn tractor and vacum attachment and cleaned up all the fallen leaves in my yard and the neighbor next door. That was a pleasant surprise. I offered him some gas for his tractor but he said no. I think he was just doing it for something to do as he lost his job as a Manager for a building supply company who downsized and closed the warehouse here last January. His wife is on a waiting list for a heart and lung transplant, and they never know when a call might come, so he has to kind of stick close to home, if one does. They have to be at U of M hospital in 4 hours and it's over 250 miles from here.

That's about all that's going on here at the 45th at the moment. Hope that those of you who have lovely ffall colors are enjoying them this year. Those of youon the road are enjoying beautiful driving weather. And for the rest of you, have a wonderful day.

Good morning Sue & everyone!

Sue, I'm glad that you were able to take some time to enjoy the final days of summer in your camper. You are always so busy doing things around your house and helping neighbors. Don't forget to take a break every now and then.

It's a cool, damp morning on the eastern shore of MD. We had rain over night and we have a chance of showers all day today. We're in the 60's right now and will be in the 60's all day. We haven't had a frost here yet and the leaves are beginning to change. It will be another couple weeks before the leaves will be at their peak. We have reservations at Killens Pond State Park in DE for two weekends from now to enjoy the fall colors.

I went to visit my parents a couple days ago. They are still at the nursing home waiting for my fathers ankle to heal from the second surgery. My father is confined to sitting in a chair all day as he can't put any weight on his foot yet. Mom's chair was beside his and they were both sitting there, just staring, at the TV which wasn't on. Mom does walk the hallways occasionally, but she doesn't go far as she gets easily lost. I can't wait until the doctor gives Dad the ok to go back to their house and not be cooped up in one room.

Have a good day everyone.

GOOD MORNING SUE, IRMI, AND ALL!

We have had that wonderfully warm, summery weather for about a week now, too, and it's been fun. I am glad you were able to get some qualiity camping time in, Sue, for the last hurrah of the season!

Irmi, how sad for your parents. I sure do hope, too, that they will be able to get back in theier own home sooner rather than later.

I am back at my mountain home this morning, and the leaves here are nearly off the trees and crispy on the ground. The temperature is about 43, and rain is forecast. I got the truck unloaded last evening, and then loaded most of my stuff I need to pack in the truck bed for the trip south. I will wait to load the generator after I get the truck serviced and inspected. I have some last minute bills to pay, call my security system man to come and change the batteries, and then I am pretty much set. I hope to print out some pictures of the baby to carry with me in my spare time. Joe has the rest of this week off and then next week, so I hope to be able to refrain from going back there while he is there, as I feel they need time alone to adjust to becoming a family with a very demanding baby schedule!

In the meantime, Molly and I will enjoy some fall walks on the property between rain showers. Maybe I will even finally get to starting my blog up again! Coffee is hot, blueberry cobbler flavored, so stop in and give us a few lines!
Life is about learning to dance in the rain
Happy travels!

Morning....

its not an indian summer here... some of the trees are turning but they are holding on to their leaves... It rained here yesterday pretty hard, so yesterday was a long day of nothing... Its suppose to clear up some so hopefully it will be nicer for the rest of the week.

I will get ready to go to the beach next week, i am holding on for that little bit of last part of fall so i can try to get out acouple of more times before the rains start... They say its gonna be more of a La Nina than last yr..:( I guess i will have to go get some puzzles for the long winter days... Gads, i want to go south so bad.... I got me a "happy light' for the dark days. I wish they would keep time on the savings time... when they turn back the hr.. it will be rough for me to adjust.

Sue.. that was so nice of your neighbor to come vaccumn up your leaves!! saves alot on ones back trying to rake them up! I had to have a maple tree cut down in the old cemetery because all the leaves came into MY yard... it just about did me under trying to rake them back out the gate.. The fur needles are bad enough... have to get on the roof and blow them off with the blower and also clean my patio awning off at least 2times a yr... I am still thinking about selling when the market gets better... if it ever does...

Nansoosie.... your going south to where the sun is? how nice!!

Hope everyone has a good day.. no big plans here....

Raining here in Greenville, Tx. Had plans to go to the Audie Murphy museum here, but guess I'll wait and see if the rain lets up. I was in love with that cutie when I was a teen.... :D

My cousin and her cousin's hubby and I went to the Texas State fair yesterday. I figured, how hard would it be to keep up with a 75 yo lady with a bum knee and hip and an 80 yo guy? Right? Wrong! So wrong! Boy, was I pooped last nite! I was so glad when they wanted to go watch the Marine Drum and Bugle Corp play. Finally, bleachers in the shade! Had so much fun, tho. Haven't been to a state fair in years and there was a lot to see and do. We didn't cover half of it.

Tomorrow I'm on the hunt for Blackburns diet pancake syrup down in Jefferson at their factory. Wait til I tell them I came all the way from SoCal just to buy their syrup. Yeah, I could order it off their web site, but what's the fun in that? :D

Chewy doesn't seem so itchy since we left Arkansas...must be something in that state that she's really allergic to. Haven't had to give her benydryl for a couple of days now.

Soos, glad the baby is doing well and the happy parents get some time at home together. Hope everyone has a loverly day today.

Good morning all, the news from here is the painting goes on...the good news is I can't smell it in the house so I don't have to leave!!!! He has the first coat on and part of the second, still has the trim. He'll be back on Saturday...I'm loving the color it's sort of a grayish green so not to radical of a change. Neighbors all have given the thumbs up too so that is good. The painter is the nicest man and I can't blame him for the delays, his wife had their first baby by c-section last Thursday and there is a problem with the baby's sight. They won't know until Friday how serious it is and that is really hard.

I went to Paducah yesterday to their wonderful bakery and got my favorite pastry, it is a sort of puff pastry in a pinwheel shape with a bit of brown sugar, pecans and cinnamon among the swirls. The best part is they aren't overly sweet and no icing on top. Seems like a lot of places are making things sweeter and sweeter these days. The other plus is they freeze well so I stocked up!

Off to my walk and then to face the housework that has been waiting for me, DH didn't vacuum or dust but I'm thankful he took good care of the dogs while I've been away. Think that took up most of his time as they know how to take advantage of him

Probably all that ant spray on the ground!

I'm at my dd's in GA for a few days. Will head for FL on Sunday. Already called and made sure my spot on the lake is ready.

Or possibly just the ants.

Irmi big hugs to you for you and for your parents. How trying this time is for all of you.
