Reserved a site at Mustang Island for this GTG but asked for site closest to the restroom for my mother's convenience. I asked for a 30amp set-up, but the reservation clerk said they only have 50amp. My camper is all covered up and packed away so can't really check the electrical cord. I'm thinking it's a 30/50 amp cord. Hope I don't fry my appliances. As per Carolyn's suggestion, I will purchase an amp reader between now and then. Any other input would be welcome.

You will need a 30 to 50 amp adapter. I would ask the folks that are going to this GTG to see if you could borrow one, if they have it. In my twenty plus years of camping, I've needed it once & I borrowed one from the campground.

Most cgs that have 50 amp, also have 30 amp outlet in the same post. If that is not the case, I'll have to pick up an adapter too. Does anyone know for sure about this cg?

I don't believe we'll need adaptors - just people who don't know what they are saying. But I'll check. In 7 years, I've never need one yet. When they call a site a 50 amp site, it means it will handle 50 amps and probably has a receptacle for 50, 30 and 20 on it. When they call it a 30 amp site, it'll have a 30 and 20 on it, etc etc. The person on the phone probably doesn't even know camping if you called the reservation center. But one of the guys is going to confirm that. I've never stayed in a TX state park that didn't have the multiple connections, tho.

Anyone else reserving -PLEASE contact Liz or myself before reserving. Remember, we have sites on hold that we will be charged for whether we use them or not. Reserving on your own means we still have these sites!

They have 30 amp at each site. But unlike Beth I have needed a 50 to 30 down sizer twice in 2 years. But I have been to Mustang Island many, many, many, many times. Well, yeah and then lots of times too. Been there with a travel trailer and been there with the motorhome and been walking on the beach. May be there Thanksgiving!

But let us all pray that they have done some good things about the bathroom/showers. They have been pretty awful. Bathrooms down stairs and showers upstairs, or the other way around. Was down there in early September and was glad to see that they finally had removed the old not usable bathroom buildings from the beach area. However, they had the area roped off and porta potties up. Also, had a new to me thing, in that they had posted on the road to the jetty "4 x 4 vehicles only". There was a lot of sand blown in the roadway, but that threw me for a loop, so to speak. The sand dunes were moving....!! Nature!!

It's a lil far out for me to commit to a reservation, but if not...I'll at least plan to get down there for a visit! :)

I've edited the first message and will repeat here. All the reserved sites for the gtg have been taken (as well as one booked outside of them). For anyone now wishing to attend, you need to contact the park yourself and make your reservation. We have 14 attending so far. Hope lots more can make it! Please post if you reserve a site and send a pm to me or Liz with a preferred email address for contact. The guys are hoping to keep in touch with everyone by email and look into some activities, etc.

Thanks for the reservation Beth. I thought hard about the Florida GTG but that would be almost 800 miles for me so maybe another year. Looking forward to seeing everyone again.

This Texas get together is quite a haul for me but that's part of its appeal. My rv isn't normally out of the shop for long periods of time. :)

Texas sure is a BIG state!

YAY, Darlene, that's great news. Can you pm or email me with your full name and what email address you want to use for contact about the gtg? One of the guys is planning to keep everyone in the loop about any plans, etc - who knows if he'll follow through, but we are humoring him. Too bad he can't read this - he's a friend, and he'd be laughing. But so far he hasn't done any email updates, so I wonder ...

Great that you'll be with us. We are going to have fun - if we do nothing but talk and eat!
