Columbus Day happenings

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Columbus Day happenings

I am leaving Woodstock NH today for VT and then along upstate NY to Niagara Falls. My travels in recent days have taken me from Acadia Park across Maine, thru the White Mtns to Woodstock. Lincoln NH was having a big craft show and the town was crowded with everyone enjoying the unseasonably warm weather. Summer's last hurrah. Found some nice items at the craft show, sat at an outdoor cafe for a Corona and a black bean burger. Ummm, perfect!

You're in my neck of the woods now Joan, near where I grew up. Hope the fall colors are in their glory for you.

Good Morning To all from colorful Indiana. We had a wonderful visit over the weekend with Tina. Sure is fun to meet women from the forum.
Just talked to the RV doc - Edmundson RV in Edinburgh, IN and the Alfa is ready and waiting for us to pick up. So will be doing that today. And Bill wants to get on the road this week some time. Thursday it is supposed to rain - so maybe won't be until the weekend. We'll see. I still have a lot of cleaning to do and there is packing etc. to do in Alfie. I have mixed emotions about this years travel - Bill still has some days when he isn't feeling 100% his old self. But guess we'll just take it easy.
And this is the first time in over 2 years that we'll be traveling in the 40 footer. Need to remember to pay attention to things we didn't worry about in Jennie.
Best get going - we're going out to breakfast in Columbus then up the highway to pick up Alfie. Hopefully there won't be a zillion tourist there when we come back through our little town.
Everyone on the road take care and good weather wishes for all.

GOOD MORNING ALL!

My kids in FL are the victims of flooding after a new highway project's storm-water drains failed in the torrential rains they are getting, spewing billions of gallon of water onto their property, overflowing their pond which still had 6 feet to rise the night before last, and surrounding their house with a lake, including all the fish from the pond. They spent all day yesterday trying to get someone to come to their place and help them, and, as of 7:00 last night, the only thing they were told is "Start filling up sand bags." They were livid, as, since they are NOT in a flood plain, they have no flood insurance. The entire flood is caused by the construction company that set the storm drains. I am waiting to hear something from them today.

The new baby and parents are due to come home today, which will brighten my attitude! His pediatrician circumcised him last night (OUCH!) and gave him a clean bill of health. They should be able to leave after one more exam this morning or this afternoon. Grammasoo is READY!

Everybody taking to the roads be safe and have great times along your byways!

Joan, I wish I could meet you on your way to Niagara Falls---what route will you take? I assume you will go south of where I am way up here at the border, but perhaps not? Would you be visiting the Lake Placid area of NY State?

Sunny and summery here yet again today, so a great day for the little one's first outing. Coffee is good, so stop by and check in with us all!
Life is about learning to dance in the rain
Happy travels!

And a rainy good morning from the PNW!

Just got off the phone with my "new to me" mobile RV repair guy, Josh. I had to reschedule the appt we made (17th) for him to replace my carbon monoxide detector as I have a Dr appt that morning. We will meet up on the 19th now. He wants to meet in the AM because then his day is just starting and he knows he can give me all the time I may need when he does my walk-through with me. I am excited to learn about my RV!

Carol, I can understand your concerns about starting out in the bigger RV and after The Driver's health issue. Hope you can always get online to let us know your progress along the way.

Joan is trekking right along. That black bean burger sounds delicious! Gosh, I always wanted to do the New England states in the Fall. Hope some pictures are forthcoming. Safe travels!

Looks like Grammasoo will get to be a full-time Grammy as Orion gets busted from the hospital today!! Hoping he's a good baby and a routine gets established quickly.
Sorry to hear about your son's place in FL. That is just horrible. I certainly hope the construction place owns up and there isn't any lingering damage to his property.

Wishing everyone a grand day!

Good morning ladies thank you for reminding me it was Columbus Day, not a single mention on the news and its been on for 3 hours!
and sadly its not a holiday in the eyes of the school district here so I had totally forgotten. Such an important day in our history and its been put on the back burner around here. Makes me very sad. Gotta call the vet and see if I can take Gracie in for a bit of a check up, she had bad diarrhea on Saturday but began to eat yesterday again and seemed fine, but then vomited her breakfast this morning. She seems ok, not lethargic or depressed, still seems her happy go lucky self but something isn't right so a vet visit is in order.
Flood in the house yesterday, son had put a load of wash in and put the water level on manual for some odd reason and forgot
about it, washer just kept filling up and over flowing. Went in to get ready for work and walked into a 3" deep pool of water coming out of the bathroom, into the hallway, the closet and the far side of my bedroom. Quite the cleanup he had to do and today I'll have to wash all the rugs as he had tossed everything into the bathtub as he worked his way around with the water sucker machine.
Off to get busy, ya'll have a great day and happy travels to those on the road. Be safe.

I enjoyed my trip to the TRR rally and the Arkansas GTG but it was nice to take a shower without having to turn the water off and on. When I think I don't do much around here all I have to do is leave for 12 days. I'm glad my washer doesn't over flow or they would probably have done that. There are 3 jars of mayo in the refrigerator because they can't find the open one so they open another. New bottles of seasoning on the counter because they can't find that in the cabinet. How do men get to be detectives, mine can't find anything. My DH sent my son to get a trailer light and told him he should have gotten an extra in case another burns out. I said why, you wouldn't be able to find it when you needed it.

The cats were glad to see me. One that doesn't like to be held sat in my lap for a long time last night. Guess they had given up on me coming home.

Better get back to cleaning out my motorhome so I can see if I can get it in to fix the step. Hopefully they can get it fixed in the next month.

Did I miss something Lenora did you get a new RV?!

I stayed in a campground last night while the paint that was supposed to be done while I was gone was drying but I'm back home now as the painter probably isn't going to come today :( What is it with painters ACK!!

I had a good time though with a friend I have know since first grade and her husband. They are visiting from Alabama in a 32' RV. Her husband thought I had 'done good' with buying my little rig.

Soos so happy the baby will get to come home and so sorry to hear about your son's house in FL!

Nope, no new RV, just don't know much technically as I bought it from a private party and took my neighbor with me when I looked/bought it. Since my neighbor has the same RV, only longer and a year newer, I have been running to him when I have questions. I figure it's time to have someone take me thru everything and take notes.

Hello everyone! Morning coffee is long past ... in fact, it's past lunchtime.

Soos ... the flooding at your son's house sounds awful. I hope the contractor makes good on it.

Started a mining expedition in my garage and I struck BOATS. A friend who owns a store that sells rafts and kayaks will come to pick up the oar rig & the cataraft tomorrow. He'll set them up in his store & sell them for me. Roomie and I will both be able to park our cars in the garage. Amazing.

This is a big first step for me in clearing stuff out of my house in preparation to sell.

Liz, driving from MA to ME and then on to NH and VT was like checking on an artist's progress while she paints a landscape scene. She started with shades of green and the barest notes of color in MA. In ME, each day brought slightly more color. By NH, the color was really intensifying and I just knew the final result would be spectacular but alas, by VT the browns were taking over and the colors were fading.

Colors are just getting really beautiful here- so you'll be heading south and getting into more of them. Will be another week or two before they are at peak here (or so I'm told).
