Was that something of a problem at the CG? Ants? Anyone else have them!

I think almost all of us had ant trouble. We went to a local store and got poison and bait. That got rid of mine but Liz had them all over her rig. The Terro ant baits worked good but don't put them where a pet can get to them.

Earlier I thought I had rid myself of the pests. I was wrong. Very wrong.

Oh, dear.. I guess I've never thought about getting ants in my RV. Is it because the rigs were parked over ant hills? Something to remember.

I got ants once. If a cg has ants, the way they'll most often come in is on your electric line or water hoses - and if they can find a path in from those, they do. Mine can't get in from the water, but can from the electric. I keep a fabric softener sheet where the electric line comes in the rig, and never have had the ant problem since. Yep, probably will now that I said that - but that's where they came in twice. Never since using the fabric softener sheets there.

To be on the safe side, I stick them anywhere I think ants might come in - used ones seem to work - so just replace them occasionally - put them in the outside compartments, at the edges of the slide out, etc.

Yes the ants won the battle. They were tenacious little things and never stopped coming. I even had them swarming inside my fresh water fill line when I opened it to fill my tank. After having to clean out every cabinet and outside compartment, I gave up. Carol had them in her new rig too. She and I left yesterday. I hated to leave such a nice group and fun gtg, but... I too had never had an ant problem before this.

We landed at the free Jeff Busby cg just off 82 on the Natchez Trace last night. Today we'll go our separate ways to our destinations. She's headed towards home in NC, me to my dd's in GA.

I have some more pictures to post here or on my blog. I especially enjoyed the levee tour we did.....a new experience for me.

Wishing safe travels to those leaving the gtg today, and to Sharon tomorrow.

I just read an on line article this past week regarding a new breed of ants that were being found in some counties of MS, GA and AL....very tenacious and their behavior was more like a swarm than a line of ants marching. DOn't ask me to remember the name......they are costing home owners $$$$$ to get them out of houses......they take over inside the walls, etc. LIke to eat most anything... :) Yummy RVs are probably on that list. I know Liz's cooking would be....it's yummy.

They are called crazy ants and are very dangerous and difficult to kill.

Liz - Thanks for posting all the great photos. Looks like a great gtg!

Thanks for posting that link, Sarah. These ants could very well be the ones in the article. Hope I don't encounter any more.

Made it home, won about 47$ on casino night! Enjoyed seeing those Id met before and meeting those i haven't. It sure seemed like a long drive home thought, my main thing is I seem to get so tired driving the RV, hoping that gets a little easier. I broke up the trip on the way down, but its not really that far.Gonna check on the Fla trip. Wendy

I have driven about 350 miles and decided to take a break. Decided to take a break a few hours ago but the lack of interstate also meant lack of rest areas. Time for a power nap then heading to Ocala. I'm still checking for ants.

I made it home ok. My electric step wouldn't go in so had to watch it all the way but didn't hit it on anything.

Enjoyed seeing old friends and making new ones. I'm sure I will see you all down the road. The campground was beautiful and the weather was perfect. If we just wouldn't have had the ant problem and the mosquitoes at night.

Made it to Ocala. All settled in and naming the few remaining Arkansas pet ants. Having real trouble telling the male and female ants apart so I'm trying to come up with non gender offensive names. I don't want to tick the suckers off and have them start biting.

Sprint mobile cell net use changed drastically on October 2nd and not favorably. Somehow, they are even detecting pdanet tethering in hide mode. Connect anything, and sprint sees it and disconnects it. With my payment, perhaps I will send them some pets to love. Sprint also added a 5 gig cap which the lack of set them apart from others.... until now that is.

Sooo. while relaxing from the latest and greatest gtg (and I really enjoyed meeting new folks there!) ... I'm going to see how fast I can use up the 5 gig cap streaming netflix, nbc news, hulu plus. I haven't watched regular tv in so long, not even sure if the antenna is still connected.
