New to the Group

Postby linann » Sun Oct 02, 2011 10:43 pm

Hi, my name is Linda. I share a home with my sister in Central Florida. Although I am easing towards retirement, I am still working full-time, long hours on top of a long daily commute. For now, camping is for weekends, holidays and vacation.

I've been tent and pop-up camping for years, and more recently, sharing a van camper with my sister. After researching and discussing different RV options, my sister and I finally purchased a 19 ft. travel trailer two months ago.

So far, we've taken the trailer for three three long weekend trips. Reading books on the mechanics of operating an RV and figuring out how to use everything. I know it sounds silly since we have been camping so long, but learning to use the trailer has been a challenge, but so worth it. Set up is so much easier and faster. And, I love having the space to put everything away and not constantly shift things around the van. Nothing better than having my own bed, except AC (remember, we live in Florida).

Already I have learned a lot from reading your forum posts!

Hi Linda! Glad to have you (and through you your sister) with us. Make sure to check out the gtg room. I know a new gtg is being planned for FL in January. Lots of food, fun and conversations to be had.

Sounds like you're already loving your new tt. Just the way it should be. :)

Welcome Linda! Congrats on your new TT. Ask any questions you need to and we'll walk you through it, probably in multiple ways, as we all learn and do things a little different, but it may help anyway!

Hi Linda, welcome to our group. Hope you are looking at the Florida Gathering in January and we can all meet you. Believe me we all went through a learning curve when we first got our Motorhomes, Vans, TT or whatever we each selected. We have all make mistakes, so just ask we will tell you the answers we learned from our mistakes.

Welcome. Tell us a little more about your trailer and we all love pictures. There are a lot of good camping places in Florida. I discovered a few of them this summer although summer is pretty hot and humid for camping there. Heading out for weekends is a great way to get used to your trailer.

Welcome to the forum! Lots of good info here and the girls are great! Hope you make it to a couple of the GTG's in Fla....or anywhere else for that matter!

Welcome to the forum. So glad you found us. Sounds as if you both are well on your way to making some memorable trips. Hope you get a chance to meet up with some of the sisters in Jan at least.

Welcome, Linda! I can't wait to meet you at the GTG in January! Also would love to see some pics of your trailer----mine is supposedly a 19 footer, too, but it's more like 22 tongue to bumper! What kind is yours? Try posting some pics in the SHOW OFF YOUR RV section so we can oooh and ahhhh! I have discovered that very few mmebers have travel trailers----most are Cs and As and Vans, so it will be nice to have a fellow-trailer-hauler!
