It's October!

Good Morning all,

Well, here we are, the 1st day of October. It's another of my favorite months although I don't look forward to the winter that follows. Don't know what it's like where you are, but it's cloudy, damp and chilly here right now. Only 35. Strong cold front came through yesterday and winds were gusting over 28 miles and hour and in some areas along the lakeshorer as high as 64. Temp struggled at 39 all day and finally made it to 41. Rain showers on and off all day. So was a very raw day. Things are looking up however as it's heading into the 70's again after tomorrow. Fall colors are coming in here pretty good right now although it's not near peak around here yet. About 40 percent I would say. Areas around here are a bit more.

With the warmer temps coming in and the fall colors showing their beauty, the "girls" and I are heading for one last camping trip probably tomorrow. Waiting for this cold snap to pass by. Not a hundred percent sure where we are going, but right now am favoring Aloha State Park again. I started the season there and want to end it there. Did that last year so perhaps I am starting a tradition here. I originally was going to leave today and spend about a week traveling in the U.P. and ending up back at Aloha, but our HalloweenFest is next weekend and boss scheduled me to work on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, so that cut me one day off my week. Then this cold front came in and I decided that going traveling and camping in howling winds, rain and 30 something weather was not fun, so am waiting for it to pass on. So tomorrow we will start off and who knows where we will wind up. That's the fun part of owning an RV. Just leaving our plans in jello.

Yesterday was my official last day for the 2011 camping season at the park. Was kind of a boring day per say as with the weather, we couldn't do a lot outside so did things inside as much as we could. By the time our last day comes at the end of our work season, we have pretty well gotten everything we do done, things put away etc. After this the full time park staff will continue on. The park is still open and running and our toilet/shower buidings are still operating. They will shut them down in another week and get things ready for winter. I will return as I said to work on the HalloweenFest and after it's over next Sunday, those of us who are there, will clean up and put everything away and that's it.

So today I am going to pick up the house a bit and then head into town to do some shopping. Later on, if it warms up a bit more, I will start getting the TT ready to roll tomorrow. Won't be leaving early as want it to warm up a bit.

Same kind of weather here in lower NY state! Rainy and foggy.The leaves are not really turning this year - they are getting brown, curling and dropping. I hope we get some sort of fall foliage.. I too love October, lots of birthdays, Halloween, pumpkins...all my favorite stuff. I too hope to get in one more camping trip, probably over the Columbus Day weekend.

Right now I am cleaning out my garage and basement - we have a bulk pickup this week and also a hazardous waste pickup, so out go all the old paint cans and thinner and flea powders along with old chairs and junk. It is very cathartic to rid onself of junk! The trouble is when you turn around it has been replaced by more junk!

GOOD OCTOBER MORNING SUE, CAROL, AND ALL!

Happy winter to Sue, and, as Carol says, I hope we get some colors in before all the leaves drop.

It's about 40 degrees outside, misting rain, and just all-around miserable feeling! However, my furnace has this trailer nice and toasty!

Mandy just stopped in, and wants to go to an Ace Hardware pink basket sale this morning. You contribute five bucks to a breast cancer fund, and then you can fill your pink 5 gallon bucket with as much as it will hold! She is interested in canning supplies---I am interested in whatever catches my eye! She said she had some serious cramping last night, but nothing regular yet. I am thinking we might need to go on some back, bumpy, dirt roads on the way to Ace!

I DID remember to say RABBITS when I awoke in the night, so maybe that will be lucky for us all. She put together a new swing thing sent to her by her brother and Melissa while Joe hung the nursery door last night. I went to bed, got under my warm sleeping bag, and did some crossword puzzles. Sometime this morning I watched a National Geographic documentary on the origin of Man----very interesting just how young Homo Sapiens is in the big scheme of humanoid creatures, and what we have done to our earth in that relatively short time.

Time to get dressed for Ace, take Molly for a wet walk around the ponds, and wait some more!

Good Morning Sue Soos and all that follow... after a cold rainy day and night it is suppose to get to 52 here in Lansing... Things are looking better at my daughters house... I will take my laundry over today and see how the new machine cleans my clothes!!
Shadow got into something this morning and of course he up chucked all over... wish he would leave things alone but he does not! I called the vet and they can clean his teeth next week... it will be $50 to $100 depending on what they have to do... a far cry from between $400 and $500 at home... this is at my old vets office here in Mason, MI they are always very reasonable... they have grown from 3 rooms to a huge facility in the past 12 years... everyone comes from miles around to get things done... he has always said no need to charge huge prices for doing what you love... they have a very large staff now... he used to be and maybe still is a farm vet... even if you could not pay he would do what ever had to be done... some people sure are givers!! and he is one...
Today I will go to my daughter Jackies this afternoon and see what is going on there...

I'm back in Menlo Park.

Was in Fremont, had a conversation with the nurse at the mobile clinic .... yup, I got diabetes.
So, I'm trying to alter my diet, and I'm on new meds that give me the runs.

Now everything runs in my life - my car and my self.

It's been crazy this week - somebody (me) lost track of a deadline, and I had to crank out a new system for my employer on short notice.
So my fingies flew up and down for a bit.

It's been a scorcher for a few days here. Today's shaping up to be another one.

Now that the rig's all running (yay!) I'm headed for Salinas this weekend. Anybody here geohash? Seems like an ideal game for RVers.
I'm going to start playing. This weekend the Salinas hash is right across from the Red Barn Flea Market parking lot, so I'm going to go pick up the hash there.
