Alice, I didn't know what a shuttle-bike was, so I looked it up. How cool! I have never seen anything like that before. Here is a link to it, for those who also don't have a clue...

Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)

Since this is my first gtg..can one of you seasoned gals please tell me what to routinely expect to be prepared for. I hear about the pot luck..do most of you prepare it ahead (as I plan to do, I think) or is it part of the deal to prepare onsite. The white elephant is what? something from the house, funny, or something new related to rving? anything else I need to know?
I have ordered an inflatable kayak but don't know if I will have it by then so will rent most likely. I will be anxious to learn from all of you on this new sport. I have a lake nearby so should use it quite alot. I was a pretty good sailor a few years ago and have considered a sunfish for my grands to use on our lake.

I would love to see how they mount the bike when it's in the water. :o Wonder how easy it tips over on windy days or in choppy waters, (or from a wake from a passing boat)?

Trouble, most likely, considering who's comin'.

Pot luck can be anything...whatever works best for you.

Someone can correct me, but I think the white elephant can be anything too, not necessarily new.

Just found the low-down on the White Elephant lotto:

"Let me know if there's anything else that sounds good to you guys and if you'd be interested in the White Elephant lotto. Just remember on that, you need to bring something that you don't need or don't want. It doesn't have to be new and it doesn't have to be something related to rv'ing. Don't go out and buy something, the whole idea is to get rid of what might be crap to you and could be a treasure to some one else!"

I have only been to one Women's GTG and from what I gathered.. nothing written in stone.. casual relaxed fun. I didn't wrap my white elephant thing....and I just told folks what I was bringing food wise....and didn"t get the impression anyone cared one way or another.. just as long as I showed up.

Just don't make fun of Belle the Flamingo.

There is a topic somewhere around here in the forum explaining the adventures of Belle.

Monday I will make another reminder call to the rv shop and ask if I can just borrow my rv for a few weeks...or at least it seems that way. Yesterday, printed out my maps, reservations, etc. I use gps in the rv but like a paper back up.

Just thought I would jump in and say I won't be able to make it. I'm in the process of having a series of shots in my left knee (avoiding surgery with rooster comb) and can't miss a week. Won't be finished until 10/17 so will be around East TN. Sorry but you all will have a blast. I can come post bail though if needed and based on the who's who list, it may be needed.

Aw, sorry we'll have to miss you. I hope the shots do the trick and you can avoid the surgery.

Carolyn - Do you have a torn meniscus in your left knee? Good luck with the shots. I avoided surgery by just not waking so much when I had this in my left knee also. Took a long time to heal. Still a little paranoid about it happening again though.

Hope for the best for you. What was that rooster thing??

Linda, it's just arthritis in the left knee nothing torn as was originally thought. The supartz shots thickens up the fluid to provide cushion inside the joint. http://arthritis.about.com/od/supartz/g/supartz.htm I'm hoping it works as I am not ready for a replacement.
