Retirement IS All It's Cracked Up to Be!

Come on in and say hello.

Retirement IS All It's Cracked Up to Be!

Postby PoddingAlong » Wed Sep 21, 2011 7:14 pm

I always wanted to retire and be a full timer. But when the economy dived and some early retiree options were going away, I retired a couple of years earlier than I'd planned and have loved every minute of it. The yen for a small RV never went away so recently I purchased an RPod and have been on a couple of camping trips nearby. It's a whole new language and lots of things to learn. I'm not totally sure I'll get comfortable enough towing to actually go "on the road" but will continue to "plod along" hoping I learn as I go. I love it that there are lots of other females out there doing this on their own; it gives me hope!

Greetings, "Pod"! :)

I think those R-Pods are just the best, and by the looks of it you've got a couple of great travel buddies, too.

Glad you've found us. Now, don't be shy about chiming in about anything. AND we'd love to hear more about you, too -- where you're from, your pooches -- anything is interesting to us. ;)

Hope to see more of you AND your rig AND your 4-legged friends. :)

Hi! Glad to have you with us. Love your pod. Hope to see you here often, and hopefully to meet you down the road one day.

(When posting pics, an occasional attachment is ok, but normally, please use a service like Photobucket or the like that will allow them to be hosted off-site. - But, yes, share lots of pics!)

Welcome Pod! Won't be long before you get "hitch itch" and will be out on the road with the rest of us! Be warned, it's addictive! The first few trips are scary scary, but before long it'll be second nature to ya! Where are you? Fur babies names> We're a very nosy bunch and don't have a problem asking for info!!

Welcome to the forum. I think your R-Pod is cute. I saw one the other day, going down the road but it didn't have the colorful loop-d-loops yours has. Like the others said, tell us a little more about yourself, where you are, all about your four legged pals, etc.

Welcome!! Love your RPod, so cute and compact. We hope you will join in with this crazy bunch as there is always something going on. I am not new to the forum but after many years of wishing and wanting I recently found my RV and just returned from my first over night trip. Yes it is scary and there is a lot to learn but I'm determined to keep practicing! Let us know how you progress and jump in and read all that's going, you might want to come to the upcoming GTG in Arkansas.

Welcome to our forum, Podding. That's a cute camper and the pooches look right at home. Just jump right in the conversation anywhere that interests you, with questions or comments. And check out the GTG (Get-together) thread to see if there's an upcoming gtg near you.

Gosh! Didn't realize it'd been that long since I popped into this forum. Some of you asked the poochies' names. Abby is the golden retriever; we just had an 8th birthday party for her (any reason to have a party is a good thing!) I rescued the brown dog and the vet that had pulled him off the pound truck called him "Brownie". He loves to cuddle and kiss so I tried to re-name him Romeo but then he was back at the vet's for neuteuring and stayed a few days so by the time I got him back, he was forever Brownie.

I'm definitely looking forward to spring and being able take advantage of my little Pod. I got real tempted and started looking into campgrounds further south when it started getting cold but decided I'd better wait another year on that especially since I'd been "bad" this fall by taking trips and also buying the trailer. Anyway, am looking forward to next season!

Welcome to the Forum. Lots of us (including myself) do it on our own. If you have lots of questions ... we have lots of answers. In fact, lots of different answers to the same questions -- such is the nature of things!  But you'll find great support and friendship here.
