Sister back in hospital - update Sunday night

Have been thinking of you. Was hoping for better news. ((((( hugs ))))) Hope that she gets the medical support she needs. So many of her systems have been stressed for so long.

Thank you for all the prayers and positive energy.
Doctors have stabilized my sister for now and are continuing what seems like an endless round of tests. We are at least thankful to have finally found a doctor who is trying to figure out what is wrong. He called in a hematologist for consult today; more tests there plus adding vit. K. She is still on oxygen, antibiotics, several others and on a heart monitor. Excessive fluid is down quite a bit; they got her potassium levels back up to safe level and heart is pumping better.
Niece and I are taking turns in 12 hour shifts staying with her.

Glad there's an improvement and you found a dr. that is taking it seriously. Make sure you are getting your rest and some time for you. When I was staying with my husband long hours, I used to take "power walks" around the perimeter of the hospital to keep myself fit and sane. Not sure if it worked for the sane part.

Sarah, so glad to hear this dr. just might find out the underlying problem for Betty. Liz's, suggestion of walking around the hospital is very good idea, walking relieves stress, of which I am sure you are under a heavy load of. Take care of you !!!

I am sorry to hear the news. Praying for you sister, as well as for you. She is very blessed to have you helping her. Take care of yourself, as well.

We are now at a point where we need a miracle so many critical systems are starting to shut down. Doctors do think they found at least a major contributing factor to my sister stopping eating - an undiagnosed gall bladder problem which has now completely shut down. The liver and pancres may also be blocked and she is very jaundice. Doctors are currently trying to decide if she can be stabilized enough to undergo surgery.
As if all this wasn't bad enough, my sister's house was vadalized last night. They didn't actually get into the house but slashed tires and took battery off youngest niece's car.
We hope to have decision about surgery for sister by mid day.
I will update again when I can. In meantime, we really need those prayers.
