The Women RV is having a GTG in Brenham, TX on November 18, 19 and 20 and anyone interested is invited to come. It at the Dixieland RV Park (http://www.dixielandrvpark.com) 979-278=3805, $22 a nite per rig for two people. Just tell them you're with the Pink Flamingo group when you call for reservations.
What is there to do while we are there?
"The weekend we flock Brenham's Heritage Belles, in period dress, guide guests through historic Brenham homes decorated for the holidays. The Guiddings-Stone Mansion will house dealers displaying an array of unusual items for sale. (Holiday Homes Tour and Trunk Show)
This same weekend Ellison's, a local wholesale nursery known for its poinsettia production, is having its annual celebration of this flower. Plant seminars, entertainment, food, tours of the greenhouses and a poinsettia Christmas tree await our inspection.
There are 3 wineries
A restored historic cotton gin and museum tours.
Washington on the Brazos State Park and historical museum. Texas declaration of Independence was written and signed at this site shortly after the fall of the Alamo. Under the leadership of Sam Houston, 59 men agreed to declare Texas a free, sovereign, and independent republic and wrote a constitution. This is the Birthplace of Texas.
Brenham is home of Blue Bell Creamery and there are tours twice daily Monday -Friday. Anyone wanting to tour will need to be at the creamery by 2:15 pm on Friday afternoon. Please let Shirley know if you are interested as we will need to advise the creamery if there are more than 10 of us going.
Just as a note of interest- have you noticed the bottles of Brianna’s gourmet salad dressing near the lettuce display in the refrigerator case at the HEB? It's made in Brenham too!
Downtown Brenham is door to door quaint shops....most of the antique variety. There is an old fashioned bakery, museum, an imported coffee company, and a place called Almost Heaven where the lady at the Visitor Center assures us they sell fabulous PIE.
Lake Somerville has hiking trails and may have some water in it if we are lucky.
If this isn't enough to keep you busy there are small gem-like towns of less than 200 residents with home cooked meals and more antique shops all over this county and within 15 miles of Dixieland RV Park."
I'm bringing Carole who will have completed (hopefully) all her chemo treatments and is really looking forward to this trip.
