Good Morning everybody,

Well, my two days off are over and it's back to work today. Time to get over to the park and jump into the work load we have for this month. Had a good two days off though. Applesauce is made, apples cleaned up from under the tree, bit of shopping done, grass is cut except for the back yard, house is vacumed etc. Yesterday I took the day off and went up to Burt Lake State Park which is about 38 miles north of me here. Wanted to go visit our lead ranger who is now the supervisor up there. We had a nice visit for awhile and caught up on things. She told me about some exciting things that are going to be done at that park too. And of course she has plans for things she wants to see done as well. This is the park that I do have a job offer at if I want to go up there. It's a beautiful park, right on Burt Lake, which is I think the 3rd largest lake in the state and part of the same Inland Waterway system as Mullet Lake where my favorite park Aloha is located. The two parks are actually about 20 miles apart. The weather forecast is looking nice for at least another week and if it holds, I may go camping to Burt next week. Have company coming by for awhile on Sunday afternoon and depending on what time they leave, I may haul out as well. Time to hit the road again.

Joan, I'll be you are excited to be getting ready to hit the road as a full timer. That thought has crossed my mind, but i need to think on it somemore. One does not jump into that feet first without some thought and planning of course. Enjoy and keep us up to date on you adventures.

Barbee, sounds lke you are getting yourself moved and settled down and really sound excited to be where you are now. Things are indeed going your way and maybe now you have found your "niche" over there. Way to go.

Soos is busy getting her mountain home ready for winter and moving closer to her daughter to wait for the baby to be born. And making her plans to head south again later on. Everybody's busy busy busy this time of year.

As to my plans to head south this winter, I am not sure yet if I am or not. Got some thinking to do here on more than one thing. And I do love winter for awhile. I love to be out in the snow, walking in the woods till it gets too deep, enjoying the fresh cold air etc. But it begins to wear about the latter part of January, so we shall see. Might just find a place to rent and go that route rather than haul my TT down there.

Well, I have to finish getting ready to leave for work here, so time to sign off. Hope everyone has a good day. Thinking of all those, especially Karen, who are in the area of Texas with all the wildfires. Stay safe and keep out of harm's way. Those on the road, stay safe also and enjoy your travels. GOOD MORNING SUE AND ALL!

Rain is due for us here today, and the morning has dawned dark and dreary and cool at 52 degrees. It's about the same temp in here, so I suppose I should rev up my electric heater for a bit.

I think my hummingbirds have left, as the feeder has remained at a constant level for the past couple of days. I haven't heard any geese overhead as yet, but I suspect that time is coming. Fall has always been a dreaded time of year for me as both a student and an educator as it means "Time to hit the books" again! I despised school as a student, loved my job as a teacher, and always despised the loss of the freedom of the summers that September brought. NOW, however, September is just another month in the freedom of retirement, and I get to tune into the deeper feelings of the shorter daylight hours, the cooling of the temperatures, the smell of falling leaves, the brilliance of leaf colors, the fields yellow with late goldenrod flowers, the diminishing of the bird songs, the fear that deer and other forest creatures must feel as the hunters target practice for the killing about to become legal again, the anticipation of that first snowstorm making everything so pristine and white, and the skimming over the ponds and lakes with ice.

We got the paddleboat covered yesterday, the canoe put away safely in the pond cabin for the winter, my swimming pool is drained but for the last few inches held in by the still-inflated top ring, my apointment to have the trailer inspected is set for 8:30 Friday morning, the porta potty company will pick up my outhouse next week, the house-alarm system guy will meet back here with me any day in October that I wish, firewood is getting trucked, split, and stacked by Joe, the cat-pee-permeated wood flooring and bureau feet in the house I covered with new shelac yesterday (I was told that shelac is about the only substance known to man that will cover cat pee smell, and they were so right on) and I am about ready to haul out of here on Saturday with the trailer to park in the driveway of my daughter's to be ready for the arrival of my new grandbaby!

Left to do this morning before Mandy leaves with the last of the baby things is divvy up the plants we want and return the ones outside back into the safety of the house for the winter. It is possible we will take most of them and leave none here to worry about over the winter months----or not!

I hope the flood warnings for Essex County here again are nothing as bad as they are anticipating, as the people along the rivers that Irene overflowed are still too high to accept much more water. The roads and houses devastated by Irene are still unusable and uninhabitable as it is. Cedar, I sure hope you people down in the valley can get back normal soon----and thank heavens you and Kathy are on a hill for safety.

Coffee tastes good and warms my hands this morning. Wherever you all are, I hope to read some words by you before the day is over.

Good morning from central PA, where I am hunkered down in a park for 3 days of steady rain and flood warnings all around. I'll have to study the map and watch the news to plan my route out of here so as to avoid flooded areas and closed bridges. I came through some small towns on the way here that were still cleaning up from recent floods from Irene. Huge piles of debris lined the streets and I saw 2 bridges out that spanned a creek. Brown water was roiling swiftly in the creeks. I had a long detour to get to my cg due to a bridge closed on the planned route.

So, not much planned here except to try to stay dry. I have to take Roe out of course, but yesterday Bandit was insisting too, so I took him out and let him get pretty wet. Hopefully he won't ask today. I need to see if someone at the gtg has a ladder I can borrow. I discovered it is leaking around my bathroom fan. I can see a seal has come loose up there, but can't reach it to fix it. At least it's dripping in the bathroom, where no damage will take place.

Think I'll take Roe out for a walk now while it's only lightly raining. Wish I could send some of this rain Texas way.

Gorgeous morning here in SoCal! After rain off and on the past two days, the sun is out again! The rain made it very humid yesterday and it was very hot, so not a comfortable combination! It is supposed to get in the upper 90's today and tomorrow before cooling off again. August and September are the hottest months out here, altho it was in the mid 90's at the end of October last year when I first moved out here.

I got a few things done yesterday on my day off. Put my folding love seat out on the patio and it looks nice there. Much better view than the parking lot I was looking over at the old place! Last night I went to the library down the street and got a new library card and ended up checking out 18 books! Got lots of reading to do now!

Lola got to explore the rest of the condo yesterday. She runs back into the bedroom when she hears a noise tho, so she knows the bedroom is her "safe" place. She seems pretty content now. I want to get a hummingbird feeder to put outside the window for her to watch.

Hope you all have a great day where ever you are! I feel very sad about the flooding out east and the fires in the south. Hope you all in those areas stay safe.

Hello ladies mourning has passed quite a while ago but I wanted to stop in and say hello. I have had three very busy days and today I will just sit! It is so good to feel good! I did a little dusting this morning fixed my coffee and that is about all.
Soos there is a product called Take Down I used it when we tour the carpeting out of my mobile home. The carpeting, padding and wood floor were soaked with cat urine! I called up around finally calling an apartment service they deal with all kinds of voters after people move they told me I could get this product at a professional cleaning supply. I had to use it several times scrubbing it in with a brush and rinsing it I would not have my new carpeting put down until the smell was totally gone. It took several days of scrubbing and having my daughter smell the floor before the odor was completely gone. This should be good information to tuck away for further reference.
Sue you are working hard again it won't be long in the park will close then you will be off for the winter. Do you plan on going south at all?
Barbie I'm so glad you are settled in, how is the new job going? I hope the tips are good!

Kathleen, thanks for the info.....not that I live with any creatures that might create a need for that sort of stuff. The dogs always point paws at the two cats but there have been enough puppies here over the years to create many a historic residue of stains under these ancient carpets....
