Brand new to rv'ing

Thanks Irmi and Martha. I will check out RVBuddies. Thanks to all the wonderful input, I am solving all the problems. My "oh, boy, what have I got myself into?", is slowly turning into, "This is going to be fun!."

Welcome to the forum...I am new too. Tho my hubby and I traveled for 8 years. Because of poor health of my hubby I am thinking beyond to the future...adding to my notes and lists:) I have not seen an A frame of your brand, but have seen the Chalet which is made 12 miles from where I live. I have thought of going that way too especially since the Chalet has a remote to raise the walls! Nothing like being lazy. We went through the factory as we had thought of getting one for our camping as hubby can't do tenting anymore...I still have that in the back of my mind. Tell us how you like it and if you could be in it for a month at a time. When we first were talking about full timing we had a tent trailer and loved it, even thought of trying it full time but knew that would not work. Keep in touch.

Welcome to the group.
I tow a 5th wheel. The RV place that sold me my rv adjusted my electric brakes for me.

@Laura, thanks for the info about how to adjust the electric brakes. I did not know how to do that. I know I will have to adjust them the future or sooner.

Welcome Tamara. Nice looking A-frame. You have received some good advice on your questions already. I have a Class B and don't tow, so would be no help there.

There is a forum get-together coming up early Oct. in AR. I hope you will consider coming and meeting some of these fine ladies.

A Class B is a Van-size motorhome.

Adding a very late welcome to the forum. I'm one of the few who do not yet own an RV so no help with your questions. However, I have learned a lot from these wonderful members by attending a few of the gtgs. I second Liz's suggestion that you try to make it to the one coming up in ARK.

Thanks for the welcome. I am taking my mother on our first trip with the camper -- actually my first trip with A camper. New to it all and am excited and nervous. Depending on how well my mother does for the next two weeks will determine our going to the GTG next month. Would like to attend especially since I live in ARK although I'm at the complete opposite NW corner of the state.

Will attempt to add a map and my picture in the near future.

I'm very much a newbie and actually am getting ready just to introduce myself in the Forum so you can't take any advice I give you too strongly but:

Brakes: I had towed a utility trailer with boats, lawnmowers, etc with no brakes but when I got my little RPod, everyone seemed to want to set the brakes up "tight". Finally, I started with the adjustment to basically no brake and moved it up as I drove and stopped on a flat area and then on a hill in my subdivision. I really didn't have to use that much brake for my light RV to feel comfortable. So back off the brake adjustment and the jerkiness will stop.

Sway bars: I'm still messing with this issue myself but basically it is an issue to attach weight distribution hitches and sway bars to a vehicle that is not on a frame. I have a Highlander which is on a car chassis rather than a body on a frame so the hitch is attached to the body of the car. After much research, I've decided to use the sway bars but if I'm on level ground, I actually have no tension on the chains. So they'll help me some but hopefully also won't bend anything on the car. I've gotten so many different opinions/comments on this that there's probably no good answer but that's what I've decided to do at the moment.

Battery: can't find a switch on mine either so am disconnecting the battery when I get it home for the moment.
