Saturday at the 45th

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Saturday at the 45th

A Good Morning to all of you from the 45th,

A cloudy morning here this morning. We are feeling the effects of a slow moving cold front coming through today. Been a bit warm and muggy these past couple of days, but came to a crashing halt yesterday afternoon. Temp was 77 and humid when I went into work at 7 a.m. and a pretty brisk wind blowing too. Afer noon the front started to approach, pushing some severe weather ahead of it to our south and the winds increased dramatically. It was pcking up sand off our beach and if you happened to be near our boat launch area which was taking the brunt of the wind, that sand felt like needles hitting your skin. Then we got some rain and a few rumbles of thuder and the wind dropped to complete calm and stayed that way from there on. Crazy weather. Today calls for scattered showers and thunderstorms, highs in the low 70's. By tomrrow only in the mid 60's and brisk northwest winds. So it will not be an ideal Labor Day weekend for beach going or whatever.

The campground is full for the weekend, the last hurrah for the season for Michigan State Parks. At least the northern parks. Perhaps the parks in the southern part might have some full weekends, but once college students return to school, our schools start on Tuesday, the days are getting shorter and cooler, so people don't camp anymore. As is, they were saying we might see some early frost on Tuesday morning, but that's is not a certainity. Now the older senior campers and snowbirds will be coming in.

I too was going to go camping for an overnight up to the park where our lead ranger became supervisor, but decided against it, in the light of the forecast. Not fun going for a night only to have it been chilly and damp only day I would really be there. The park is full, so can't go tomorrow and am really not in the mood either. Will take a ride up on Tuesday, see her and spend some time at the park as it's only 38 miles from here. My apple trees are loaded with ripe apples, so being it's going to be cool and damp on Labor Day, it wuld be a good day to make apple sauce.

Hard to believe that it's Labor Day already. Where has the summer gone. Won't be long and i will be getting things ready for winter. But first I take my annual fall vacation and we also have our Halloween Fest at the park the second weekend in October to do. Got a mile long work list of thing to accomplish this month too. There are only 4 of us left on maintenance during the week and one, possibly two other campground office staff coming in on weekends. So it's going to be us 4 maintenance folks doing the work.

I hople all is well with everybody and Irmii, hope you get your flood mess cleaned up and can enjoy some nice fall weather in your rig before it's all over for you too. Haven't been on here latelly in the moring, so don't know what's happening with everybody's lives, but wish all of you the best. Have a wonderful Labor Day weekend everyone.

Good morning Sue & everyone!

Sue, I hope you are able to relax some during the long Labor Day weekend, as I know you will have your hands full. I'm so not ready for the first frost, but since you are further north, I'm sure you are used to the early falls & winters.

It's a brisk morning on the eastern shore of MD and we are staying at the Trap Pond State Park in DE. We have a waterfront site with a spectacular view. We have friends we meet here every year for Labor Day weekend.

Before we left the house yesterday, we emptied out our refrigerator and freezer, which both quit running from the flood in our house. Fortunately we have a spare refigerator, so we were able to save most of our meats. When we opened the crisper drawers in the refrigerator that is working, they were both full of water, just to give you an idea of how high the water was in the house. Later in the morning, I opened the drawer on the bottom of our oven and it, too, was full of water. It seems to be a never ending task of getting the house and contents dry. The new appliances were delivered and restocked.

It's nice to be able to get away from the house and do something besides mop, wipe and clean. But, this too shall pass.

Have a good day everyone!

Grabbing a cup of tea and heading off to the Highland County Fair and another 4H dog show assignment. Here is to a pleasant afternoon with well mannered dogs and their handlers. :) .....and a little extra spending money in my pocket for the cruise next week! 8-) At least this assignment is under roof and in the shade...... It isn't cooling off till later this week I think.

Hope everyone has a good start to their holiday weekend. Stuart is wanting me to find him some water before the weekend is over......but he is always wanting to find some swimming opportunities......

Irma, I'm amazed at your resilience...Your plate was full before this flood, but I do believe you are one who lives with a cup half full...No time for 'woe is me'...full speed ahead. You're an inspiration to those of us who fold up into embryos when disaster strikes. I believe I read that you and your hubby are going to the PA GTG...if so here's to a great time of relaxation, recreation and renewal of body and spirit..

Good morning coffee is good sun is out beautiful day here however a little warm. Only in the mid-90s today! A good way to start September. It looks like it will be a good weekend for camping.
Yes, I too have noticed Irmi's wonderful attitude! And I know I would crumple under such adversity.
Sue, I remember when my children were in school in Michigan they made it mandatory that schools start after Labor Day supposedly this brought more tourism to the state and farmers could finish getting their crops in with the help of their children. The schools here stared in mid August.
My body is refusing to adjust to this increase in medicine but they say it will in time. Let's hope that time is when I leave for Florida!
I hope everyone is having a good weekend holiday. Drive safe and smile often,
Kathleen

GOOD AFTERNOON ALL!

TADA!!! Old trailer is parked in shelter! It only took me about a half hour from hookup to unhook-in-shelter this time----all alone, with no one to give me arm signals, verbal commands, throw their arms up in disgust, holler at me causing me to holler back at deafening decibels, no crying in frustration on my part----all in all, I am very proud of myself!

Leanto stuff is all put away, cabin at pond is cleaned up, water hoses and sewer hoses disconnected from trailer and packed, stuff in house here that I will be packing in truck to haul south with me is stashed by the front door, dump run accomplished this morning, paper stuff burning as I type, cans and bottles in duck house to be refunded by kids for money towards a back hoe for them, truck bed already to receive stuff for travel and baby stuff that wouldn't fit in kids' vehicles, upstairs bedroom carpet drying out and auromamized after the kids left the door open during Irene, cellar stuff organized and shelved and stacked, shelter stuff organized for the winter, dirty clothes in washing machine, all waste baskets emptied and cleaned out, Kicker back here for removal of valuables before hauling to place for scrap, (sob), tire cover from RV dealers I got for 5 bucks and two glasses of Recipe (to be made), barn all cleaned up and cleaned out, including the refrigerators, -----How am I doing??!!

Left to do: upright and cover paddleboat, bring canoe back up here, put motorcycle back in shelter, call about tonneau cover I left to be sold at RV dealers in Dannemora, call to make an appointment to get trailer inspected at place next door to RV dealers in town, have Joe bring up the two new 12 volt, deep cycle batteries from pond to swap out for my older ones in trailer, brring up Yamaha generator, pack Honda generator in truck for trip south, ----Issy just came----back later!

Hope you all will have a better day than yesterday, as many of you have been struggling with water and floods and no power and downed trees, and more.

Issy has been having her own little sagas, so it was good to have a break from my stuff and talk with her for a bit. She's been such a good friend over the years---I so hate to watch her brain go downhill. Many of you are experiencing that, too, what with Alzheimer's and senility, or whatever they call it wherever they are.

Off to get some more done here before darkness and rains come----we had a rainless, wonderful day here.

Happy travels!

Soos, I'm exhausted just reading your post!! Hopefully, you can slow down now once you leave there.

I am almost all moved to my new place! Just have a few insignificant things left at the other place and some cleaning to do but will take care of that next week sometime. Yesterday, I loaded up the cargo van I rented and took it down to the new place. Luckily, the 17 year old, Laney, was home to help me unload it. She's very nice! Brought the van back and went back to Lake Elsinore for my last night there. This morning I loaded up my car with my last minute essentials and the cat, and headed back down. Been busy arranging everything in the room and getting my bed set up. Lola is not a happy camper about any of this, and is hiding out under the bed. I am laying on the bed listening to the wonderfully relaxing waterfall right outside my bedroom window! I look right out onto the waterfall and pond! So nice! Sure beats overlooking the parking lot and listening to cars all day! Also, it is currently 94 degrees in Lake Elsinore and 74 degrees down here! We get a wonderful breeze thru here from the ocean!

I start my new job tomorrow morning and also work on Monday. Unpacking will have to wait until Tuesday. For now, I am surrounded with boxes. Need to run to the store soon and get some milk and cookie dough :D (and a few items of real food!)
Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)

Finishing up my last few days in the sticks and bricks before I start my fulltiming lifestyle. Had my daughters over this past week and told them to take whatever they wanted. This morning and tomorrow morning I am doing a yard sale but indoors with a/c. Whatever is not sold goes to Habitat.

I am hoping to get on the road Monday but with a stopover in Tampa. A dear friend just had surgery to remove her gallbladder due to cancer so I will stop in to visit with her. Also planning a brief stop in Richmond VA to visit another friend before heading to LIW GTG. I am looking forward to my adventures but not without some anxiety. I'll miss my daughters and my friends here in Sarasota but I have family far-flung all over the USA so seeing them along my travels will be fun.

The camper is almost ready. A little more packing but so far it is all fitting in. Tomorrow I'll plug in the RV to power up the fridge for Monday. My little Maggie is very worried about all the commotion in the house. We are now sleeping on an air mattress on the floor since my beds are gone. Remaining furniture is haphazardly placed around the living room for the yard sale. She knows something is up.

Joan, how exciting for you and Maggie! I sure hope your garage sale is a huge success and provides you with some cash for your road travels. Where will you head after VA, or do you know yet? If you get up this way, to the Adirondacks, I would love to meet you somewhere!

Happy Trails to you and Maggie from me and Molly

Soos,
After VA I will be going to the LIW GTG!!!!! Hurray!!!! Finally meeting some sistahs face to face or camper to camper. From there I planned to go to MA and ME and then back to KY thru upstate NY. If you are still up north I'll definitely contact you.

My first day on the road. Got a very late start so stopped in Ocala for the night. You know six degrees of separation? The CG owner is from the same town (Kingston NY) as me, was born in Queens NY (like me), is named Art (my ex's name) and now he thinks I might be his sister. Lol.

My hectic morning has now resolved into a relaxing evening. Wine glass by the computer and on my second refill. Ahhhhh.....
