I'm Anna of annarondac. Last year, my husband and I bought a fifth wheel after we sold our home in San Diego. We were a comedy team learning the ins and outs of living in a fifth wheel. Forgetting to put chemicals in the black water was an interesting episode as wondering why we had no heat. After having a repair person come to check out our furnace, we realized we had run out of propane. It's been an adventure, at least.
What surprised me the most on our first skiing trip to Mammoth Mt. was looking back at the trailer and seeing everything we own. A bit unsettling, but worth the ease of sleeping in our own bed at night and having all the amenities of home. On our way home, we stopped in the desert in Anzo Borrego and stayed at a beautiful park. As a botanist, I studied desert plants in college, so being out when the flowers were in bloom in the spring was a treat, as well as the mineral springs after a day of botanizing back at the RV park.
I spend summers in the Adirondacks, as we have a summer home there, but will be coming back to RV life in the fall. I have had a pipe dream of owning a small Airstream. I drive from San Diego to the northeast and back again because my two Westies are rescued and cannot fly due to health issues. Jake, our 15 year old, passed last winter, but Ollie, my 13 year old still loves to ride. It would be fun to do a road trip with my Westie in an Airstream cross country.
