Hope they didnt mess up their engine. Don't you have to fuel injectors cleaned or something if you run out of gas? Meant to ask my sons, they are mechanics.

My father use to do that. He couldn't hear the dinging when he left the keys in the ignition and would lock himself out. (He kept complaining that they should make the dinging louder, no mention of wearing his hearing aides. ;) ) A few times he went to get something out of the trunk and locked the car after he got out while it was still running. A friend of his at the condo complex was a locksmith and helped him out a few times. :D Would not want to come back to that after a nice weekend away. Linda

Poor people, but great story, Ava! My truck also turns off within 10 minutes, or less, if I remotely start it, thank heavens, so it can't run my tank dry! However, up here at -40 F. when I was teaching, I often had to start it up again to get it warmed up enough to be able to drive it! Since not living here last winter, I even forgot I have a remote start on my truck!

well, when the guy returned, he had the dealership come and tow his car in but now there are two more cars left
running last night and one shut down before I clocked out at midnight, the other one was still running when I left.
What a shame for those folks.

Oh my what interesting stories you have to tell Ava. A few weeks ago I locked my keys in the trunk while putting dog food in and I had to call the police in normal to come help me they'd do that free for residents of the city that was a good thing to know and was the first time it happened to me hopefully the last.
Maybe an announcement should be made on the bus does everyone have their keys!

I've often asked passengers, do you have your cell phone, all the luggage, and now have added, is the car shut off? They think thats an odd question but I proceed to tell them we have had a total of 4 incidents in the past month of cars left running.

Some of the cars are so quite that you simply can't hear them or is it the ears?
When we talk with some of our campers and we mention different things that have come up they look at us but I wouldn't do that!
they may not but some of them do...any way bottom line is it's probably a really good thing to do
