We had an Earthquake

The Epicenter was around Washington DC. I hope Li is ok. Things fell off shelves and rock & rolled for about 30 seconds. I was scared...to say the least.

Think the epicenter was in VA. Just read it on the internet. I'm in CA - we haven't had one in quite awhile.

We felt it in Philly. Was having lunch out with a girlfriend and felt the vibration on the floor. At first we thought it was the bass on the sound system being a little too loud, laughed about a possible earthquake, then went back to eating when it didn't seem like any other diners felt what we did. Then the text messages started to come in on her phone. We were concerned about her daughter in Washington, D.C. but she didn't even feel it in her office there. Go figure.....

Just glad it didn't happen last week when I was driving through the area. I would have thought a tire blew. I now understand the reasoning and have respect for the propane restrictions in the tunnel in the Baltimore area.

My son felt it in Mass. Goes to show ya, they can pretty much hit anywhere, not just here in CA.

I'm a Cali girl, but my brain didn't want to understand that I was standing in my office in Chester, VA, and rockin' and rollin' like in SoCal! OMG! It was pretty intense, but not as bad as some I endured in LA. It was shallow but long--about 15 seconds all told. It was a roller, undulating up and down. Not even a book fell of the shelves at work and not a picture fell at home! There was some pretty substantial damage up north nearer to DC; but they don't build to earthquake code! Lots of brick that came apart! We have had quite the week...a tornado watch over the weekend, the earthquake, and now we're looking to Irene to dump some rain on us this weekend! WOW! Ma Nature is really having a lot of fun this week!!!! :o  :o

When I talked with my mom this afternoon, she said..."It's a sign that you are supposed to move back to the Land of Rock and Roll." I concur with her! Maybe it IS a sign from the Universe! :) :D ;) ;)

LOL, now you guys know what its like to live in California. Lets see -- tornados every year in Texas or an occasional earthquake in California? Guess which I'd choose?

Glad to hear that all on the east coast are OK. I heard on the news that a mother and daughter were talking on the phone, one in NC and the other in NJ, when the quake hit. They both felt it at the same time. How incredible is that? Be mindful of the aftershocks. Do get prepared for the hurricane, sounds like a big one. Linda

Amen to that! And it's appearing more and more like it may happen for me...the boss called me in today and said "...if I were to say, and I'm not saying at this point, but if I were to reassign you to the office in LA..." ;) ;) Had to discuss things like my vacation time as I've been saving it up to sell when I retire. With no retirement, I face losing it all (240 hours of it!!!). So he suggested if the new boss can wait for me to go out there in January then I can train my replacement in Sep and Oct, and take Nov and December for leave (what we call vacation time). OMG...now that's ok. But again, it's not for sure yet, but it's looking better!!! :D :D

Now if that damned house would sell!!!!
