Monday August 22

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Coffee's on, pecan rolls, and Persian cantaloupe...it's like regular cantaloupe but fuller flavored, and has larger, pretty green stripes.
Possibility of rain this coming weekend - yay! Doesn't look like we'll get any fallout from TS Irene, but we'll take what we can get.

Project Downsize continues in fits and starts; I'm having a lot of "so that's where I put that" moments.
I have finally decided to let loose of the denim bomber jacket I've had for twenty years - objectively, it's 1. waaaay out of style, unless I'm shooting a retro music video from the 80's, with all of those angles and giant pleats; and 2. particularly unflattering (it's short-waisted, and I'm shorter-waisted - at the time it seemed like a good idea, but I see now that it's not. It makes me look like a fleece-lined denim beach ball.)

With a sigh, I took all the bling off of it, which included a peace sign in rhinestones and a pin from the movie ET. I'll release it into the wild (Goodwill) sometime later this week. We had a good run together - I hope some younger version of myself will find it and cherish it as I have.

Megan, I'm sure the jacket will find new mementos and memories to adorn it :D I remember when tGM finally decided to give up his well-worn leather bomber jacket. He took a final picture before sending it off to it's next adventure. Enjoy all the "remember whens" as you sort thru your stuff. carold

GOOD MORNING ALL!

Parting with treasured "stuff" is so hard!

Image
We have begun! Liz and Pete and Molly, sitting under my awning for protection from the many showers interspersed with sunshine on Monday.

Liz's and Pete's rigs.

More chatting under the canopy----Richard was still asleep!!

Today has dawned dark, cold, (52 degrees) rainy, and......what can I say? I took an electric heater out to the barn, closed all the open windows out there, and stapled some plastic over the screen door. Perhaps I will get it up to a tolerable temperature in there so we can be comfy today! The sun is supposed to show itself later, and I sure do hope it does!

We had chili, salad, and blueberry cobbler (not a good batch of cobbler----guess I was distracted while baking it!) last night. Then the four of us sat around my little propane fired "open fire" thingy in my screen house while it rained on and off! It was the first time I had used that, and, I must say, it is perfect for the screen room....we can all sit around it in there and be safe from the skeeters! The party barn will be used today, I am sure, especially if I can get it to feel a bit warm in there!

Hope you all are having a good time, wherever you may be. Carol and Anita are due to show up today, I believe. At least we won't have the hurricane just yet!

Happy Tuesday to all!

Morning travel pals! It's the first foggy day since I have
been on the OR coast. Forecast looks like more of the same.
Later I'm meeting my cousins for breakfast. In the mid 50s
Bob came to visit our family in his sailor outfit. My sister and
I fell immediately in love! Looking forward to local diner
breakfast. Have a fun day where ever you are!

Happy Monday, Soos, and all to follow!

Nice to be greeted with some GTG pictures at the breakfast table. Sorry about the rain but seems you have a nice dry place for everyone to gather despite that.

This is the first week in the past 3 that i have been feeling better (oh, my aching bum), and I'm GD-less (grand-daughter-less). I was going to be asked to watch both this week but their Dad (on vacation/Mom working), decided to head to CA with them. Not sure if they are visiting relatives or going to a theme park.

Can't believe that we are nearing the end of August already! My GD in CA started school last week. Wow, I have a GD who is a sophomore in high school! Next month bowling leagues will start up again. I'm so looking forward to that! Dentist appt on Wed at 7AM  ! What was I thinking?!

Enjoying the LA GTG pics on Facebook. That's allot of Cajun food they are putting down! Looks like great fun and some nice pics being shared.

Ok, enjoy your Monday!

Oh Soos, I read this, scrolled down and saw the picture of Liz and Pete and Molly, and thoughts of what are her plans for these forum members? :o  Maybe we don't want to know what goes on in the DAKS!

Looks like everything is coming together for a great GTG Soos. You seem to be prepared for the weather, so all should work out for the best. Linda

Cloudy here this morning but that will clear out later. Close to 100 today and the rest of the week.

I was supposed to go paint my new bedroom this morning but Liz, the woman with the condo, asked if I could come on Wednesday morning instead, so that is what I will do. Will do laundry today before heading to work at 4.

Talked to my dad yesterday. His neighbor passed away last week. She was 91. We went to her 90th birthday party last year before I moved and she looked pretty good! She was a neighborhood icon. My dad is now the last of the original neighborhood group from 60+ years ago.

Well, I better get started on my laundry...

Soos, I hope your Ruckus finds some warmth and sunshine this week!

Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)

Cuz your head is screwed on slanty?

Naw, it's cuz the rain will roll off and not puddle in the awning.
That does not mean, however, that your head is not slanty...just sayin'.

And when you see one not tilted, the person hasn't learned yet that is should be tilted :)
