Writing at ya from the comfort of my banquet table here in my American Clipper home (waves coffee mug at everybody).
I'm solo, and 53.
Other than a couple short spells of rented rooms in stick houses while I dealt with RV issues, and a bit of time spent in India, I've pretty much been RVing full time since 2003.
I seem to be different than most RV'ers in that I've been staying pretty close to home. I've had a normal job most of that time.
I've been working remotely the last couple years, so I actually could take off and go. I just haven't felt like that's what I wannu do with my money, put it in my Clipper's gas tank. And I'm just as happy having my little life with friends and such in San Francisco bay area as seeing the excitement of Port Hueneme and Leota KS and such places.
'Urban boondocking' is a polite term for parking on the streets. I've had a place to park for a year or so, I'm watching the place at night in return for a safe parking spot. It's not that much different than being in a park, and it sure saves money.
Home is a 1978 American Clipper, the 21 footer with kitchen in back. I've got a banquet and the two chairs. I sleep in the cabover. She just got a new transmission (that money wasn't doing anything anyway, just sitting around in my bank account
) I've mostly been fridgeless, but I'm about to change that. I've got a generator I mostly just flip on for the microwave. No toad.
She's my 4th RV. I started out in a 34 ft class A Itasca, but that was tooo big! Constant headache moving it about. A couple small Class C's, a little cramped for living in, and now I think I've found my ideal middle. The Clipper's big enough to live in and have a home life, and small enough to use as my car.
