::Annie is here, wearing a bathrobe and bunny slippers::

Howdy all!
Writing at ya from the comfort of my banquet table here in my American Clipper home (waves coffee mug at everybody).
I'm solo, and 53.
Other than a couple short spells of rented rooms in stick houses while I dealt with RV issues, and a bit of time spent in India, I've pretty much been RVing full time since 2003.

I seem to be different than most RV'ers in that I've been staying pretty close to home. I've had a normal job most of that time.
I've been working remotely the last couple years, so I actually could take off and go. I just haven't felt like that's what I wannu do with my money, put it in my Clipper's gas tank. And I'm just as happy having my little life with friends and such in San Francisco bay area as seeing the excitement of Port Hueneme and Leota KS and such places.

'Urban boondocking' is a polite term for parking on the streets. I've had a place to park for a year or so, I'm watching the place at night in return for a safe parking spot. It's not that much different than being in a park, and it sure saves money.

Home is a 1978 American Clipper, the 21 footer with kitchen in back. I've got a banquet and the two chairs. I sleep in the cabover. She just got a new transmission (that money wasn't doing anything anyway, just sitting around in my bank account  )

I've mostly been fridgeless, but I'm about to change that. I've got a generator I mostly just flip on for the microwave. No toad.
She's my 4th RV. I started out in a 34 ft class A Itasca, but that was tooo big! Constant headache moving it about. A couple small Class C's, a little cramped for living in, and now I think I've found my ideal middle. The Clipper's big enough to live in and have a home life, and small enough to use as my car.

Anyway, glad ta be here with you all!

::Waves coffee mug again::

Welcome, Annie.

Sounds like you've found what works for you. Always glad to hear what works for others. Me, I love to boondock, but also love to see new places. I can (and sometimes do) stay long periods in one area though. Then, other times, traveling is what I'm doing. Mix it up, I guess. Do what works for you. What makes us all different is also what keeps everything interesting.

Glad to have you with us.

Wow, great responses!

I was sorta shocked to see 9 responses when I revisited this forum!
I only posted it about 5 hours ago!

Pics are coming - you all motivated me to clean her up and get her ready to have her picture taken! So I'll shoot some pictures here as soon as my camera's battery charges.

Anybody who can make it to the bay area, love to have you! There's a zillion great things to do around here!
If you're not for boondocking, I actually stay only a couple blocks from one of the few RV parks on the peninsula that takes overnighters.

I'm headed north as far as mill valley next monday. After that, who knows. Sometimes the RV decides and I go along.

Annie, you're in a beautiful area. I'm all the way east right now, but if you're still there next time I'm on the west coast, would love to gtg. And keep your eye on the gtg thread. You never know when there will be one you want to attend - no matter how far away. (Course, you could always plan one, also).

We are a talkative bunch - and like to make the newbies feel like part of the family as quickly as possible. It probably took longer to get you approved than it does to get people welcoming you :)

Hi Annie, welcome to the forum. I am originally from your area, born in Oakland in ----, moved to Carmel in 8th grade, moved to Alabama in 1967, something to do with a soldier from Fort Ord! I still find myself homesick for Calif once in awhile, but lots cheaper to live here, and have sons and gdkidsI'd miss. This is a great group and altho I don't use my rv much, I got the confidence from these ladies to make a couple of longer trips. I'm Wendy, by the way. Welcome!
