Friday Morning Slipping Away

Wow, no coffee and goodies on here this morning? Wake up sleepyheads :)

I'm working online right now on my own webistes. Working for the cg afternoon shift now on weekends. So Peaches and I had a long walk in the cool morning air after getting up. Love it.

Hope all are safe, whether home or on the road.

GOOD MORNING BETH AND ALL!

Another bright, sunny day here, and the temp is nearing 80 in the sun. I need to go online and order me a vacuum to clean out the bottom of my pool, now that the iron color has settled to the floor! This model pool didn't come with a vacuum. It's looking clearer and clearer in there, so I am getting happier and happier!

I took myself to the Urgicare Center yesterday as my arm hornet sting was looking horrid.....arm was big as an elephant leg. I mostly wanted to make sure I could take benedril as I am on blood pressure meds, and the guy said sure----take 50 miligrams every 6 hours. It helps a bit. He also gave me the option of going on cortizone to hurry the swelling re-absorption process along, but I opted out of that. I don't really care how long it takes as long as it doesn't get any worse. Cortizone has some nasty side-effects, and I sometimes need that if my asthma gets really bad. The pain and swelling has gone down slightly today, although my hand is now involved with the swelling----looks a bit like a boxing glove! I am hoping for a more noticeable improvement today. The tautness and hotness is less, and I can almost see an elbow in there somewhere! I need to call them back and request an epi-pen or two to carry with me now, in case of any other stings. I forgot to ask for that yesterday, and, although he warned me about any other stings, he did not prescribe one of the pens for me.

Richard and I went to the weekly Wilmington Beach (just over the shoulder of Whiteface Mt.) music concert last night. It was fun to see old friends and listen to some "Flashback" 50s and 60s music! The band was pretty good, especially with the fast pieces.

Time to get some food into me now, and then take the canoe to the pond, launch the paddleboat, and pick me some jewelweed to steep for ice cubes.

Happy Friday everyone!

Hello Everyone, If I hurry, I might make morning time getting this posted. I've been working outside in my yard, its big and being gone for 9 days, it really grew, just riding the mower around Monday, did not fix everything so have been working for short time each day trimming, raking etc. If grass gets too high, I have to rake around my front porch, I can't stand it otherwise, seems to grow higher there then anywhere else too.

If I get on here first thing in the morning, when so much to do, I don't seem to get to work, :o , Hhmmm, wonder why ? Not because I really don't want to work, oh that can't be !!!! :? MIGHT BE REASON, AND ITS HOT.

I'm still trying to catch up on the forum, not sure what is happening with everyone, but for those who might be ill, or dealing with some problem, I pray all will be good soon for you. For those who are on the road, stay cool, but most of all, SAFE. The rest of us, will enjoy the pictures and dream in our A/C, RIGHT?????

Hope you all have a Really Great Day,
CArol :)

Soos, I'm so sorry to read about your bite, I have those buggers flying around here, have a small nest started under my table on back deck, I meant to spray last night at dark. Forgot, body and brain, soooo tired by that time of day. Take care and I sure hope swelling goes down fast and no more bites, one of those pens, sounds like what you need.

Good Morning.

Been a while since I've been on here too. So far behind that catching up will be hard. Like Carol said "for those who might be ill, or dealing with some problem, I pray all will be good soon for you".

News around here continues to be dominated by weather, power outages and the economy. Our actual high hit 101 on Wednesday and a wave of severe storms hit overnight

leaving thousands without power again. This time it was so wide spread that Nashville, Tn utilities sent crews down to help. As of this morning only a few hundred are still without power in the city. I have power at my house, thankfully. The storm caused a good bit of damage at my rental house - some of that still being assessed. My yard and driveway are a real mess but unlike Carol, I have not gone out in this heat to clean anything up yet.

Soos - Saw a tip on helping keep pool clean. Said float tennis balls to collect body oils and sun screen. Only trick might be finding way to keep them out of filters. (No pool here so no experience but sounds reasonable.

I got carried away at the farmers market earlier this week so plenty of fresh local fruit to share - peaches, figs, grapes, berries etc. plus tomatoes and goat cheese.

Stay safe and cool whatever you have planned.

Carrying benedry is also a good idea also if you don't have a prescription for an epipen. It doesn't work as well, but in case of a bug bite or other allergic reaction, you can take it and it does help. Ask how many you can take in an emergency. I was told 2, and I also have to watch my blood pressure.

I once loaned some to a lady in a class I was teaching who walked in with some sort of strange bite on her ankle. It saved her a trip to the drug store and she could take it right away.

The weather here has cooled down a bit. From 114 to 108 yesterday, due to the overcast sky. Should be between 106 and 108 for the next week or so. We did have some thunder and lightening the other night, but no rain. Everything is so dry here it crunches. How come the weeds are thriving??? Oh well, they do pull out easily. :D

sorry to hear about your wasp sting Soos. Whenever I am walking around the house, I always carry a can of the wasp spray. Never know when you might need it. Hope your arm feels better soon and responds to the benadryl. Linda
