Home Sweet Home

We're back for the winter in our cozy little lot in the Foothills of Yuma AZ. Weather is beginning to cool down so it is more enjoyable to be outside. Halloween was Hot, no Trick or Treaters so that means I get to eat all the candy ( such a shame...NOT!)

Had our first get together with all Dan's work buddies at Lute's Casino for lunch and then the Boomer ( Young Escapees) get together at a friends last night to kick the winter season back in gear.

Getting things cleaned up and organized inbetween visit's with friends. Getting back into riding my bike again, Dan is back into playing pickleball.

Put up the birdfeeders and all the birds are coming back and the Hummers are glad to have more feeders to zoom around to.
Good to be home! Now I'm on a mission to find a kitchen cart to put the new toaster/convection oven on in the casita.

Sounds like you're enjoying being settled down for the winter. We are just about to take off for the winter and head south. It is supposed to get down to the 40s during the day here next week.

Pickleball http://www.pickleball.com is the newest craze and alot of people are catching on. It was named after Joel Prichards dog "Pickles". Dan is hooked on it and great because it gets him to exercise. He won two Silver metals in The Yuma Parks & Recreation Senior games in Mixed Doubles & Men's doubles. I haven't played yet since I had a bruised foot from wearing my crocs flip flops. They give me no support and wearing thin so time to pitch them.

Here's my new Buffet table that should be here next week $211.19 total cost

Image
Here is the kitchen cart, it will be the same color as the Buffet....I hope! Will be a brick red color $199.99...this one is on back order till Jan 9th but if they get them in at Penneys I'll get it sooner....crossing my fingers! ;)

I was so excited I ran out in the yard and gave Dan a BIG kiss!! Mr. Scrooge was in a giving mood lol  :D

You're right Carold, I have the best of both worlds, I can hitch up at whim or park my butt for as long as I want!
OK got the official word Gill ( Aussiechick) & Bob are going to be here on Sunday 9th for a few days and then they plan on going to Mexico.
Gotta find out what Day Bill & Diane are arriving for Thanksgiving with us....yep I have reservations already! The Purr~Fect Retreat is going to be busy again this year lol.

I was so happy that my baby Palm tree did not die.....I was secretly paying the next door neighbor to keep the plants alive!! Mr. Scrooge did not want to pay anyone....he's not a garden lover as you can tell lol.

I better be careful or he'll put me back to work! I love to garden so I like having my plants here and Petunias thrive galore here. I got some seeds the other day and so I'll get them started. When I had the house in Puyallup ( Pew-al-Up...one of those funny Indian names) I had a greenhouse in the back yard that Dan and I built. I love to putter in the dirt and see things grow. People were getting the giggles this Summer watching me haul my Geraniums out of the motorhome ! I was not going to kill those, they keep blooming all the time!

Hated to take down the Halloween stuff because I really do not have much Thanksgiving decor. Can't wait to decorate for Christmas!
Wish ya'll were here to see one of the streets out here. Every single lot on both sides of 55th St go all out and I mean ALL OUT for Christmas decor in the yards and homes...it is so awesome!!!

Friends coming tomorrow to check out the casita, gotta get it all tidy lol and then Friday I'm cooking dinner for the next door neighbors and we'll see if the gals kick the guys butts in Hand N Foot card game.

Jenny, you sound extremely happy to be 'home'! I think entertaining is your niche. So are the kitties glad to be home also?
That is not the pickle ball we played as kids, but I think it would be a riot to play. Great exercise, too. I'll have to check Utube and see if there's a video of it being played.
Love the new cabinet you are getting. Where did you find it?

Cats L-O-V-E being back in their winter home because they are free to roam the yard and go to the yard next door to visit Kitt the cat. We do keep our eyes on them so they do not wander far. Sometimes Biff will wander two doors down so I'll go over and call him home and he cops a catitude but will walk back home.

Both the buffet cabinet and Kitchen cart are from JC Penney. It was the only store that we saw that carried them and we were referred to it.

I think I am happy to be home because I get to be creative here and no boundries. When I had my home I had my garden & craft room and I could spend hours in there puttering with plants, paints, wood & ceramics...it was my calming heaven. I could spread out my stuff...in the motorhome I do not have the room, one of the reasons I do photography. My taste in crafts have changed a bit, so what I don't want will go in the yard sale in the Spring time. I really want to get into fused glass jewelry. I also want to learn how to sew, I have lots of sewing projects I want to do also.

Having a yard sale each Spring will help to not have a cluttered motorhome or casita.....people come out in droves on Fridays looking for a bargain!

Pickleball is very popular here at Sun N Fun, where I'm wintering in Sarasota. I do have to say that 2 women fell last year and broke their arms. But that doesn't seem to stop anyone. I probably would stick myself with a sewing needle. They have jewelry making with glass and stone here, but it's at the same time as tennis. There's also quilting, lawn bowling, bocce ball, water aroebics, yoga and that french game which I can never spell (pinquent???) among others. Gosh, do we have it hard or what. We are certainly lucky in today's economy to be able to still stay retired (at least for now) and I certainly don't take it for granted. carold

Jenny, I'm interested in the fused jewelry, too. They had a class here in town a few years ago but I had other commitments so I missed it. They haven't offered it since. Not sure what I'd do with all the jewelry I'd make.
I was into rubber stamping and after a while you make so much there's not way to get rid of it! A lot of the designs on the stamps are copywrited so you can't sell anything with their image on it. Stamps get expensive and there is always a new technique that you want to try and have to buy all the extras for. I figured I had nearly $7000 invested when I finally grew tired of it. I sold allot and gave a huge box of rubber stamps to the gal that runs our local store. Some I'd bought from her! I figure she could use them for classes etc.
