Jed's Camping Trip - A Few More Pics & A Video

Postby Forestgal » Mon Jul 11, 2011 9:41 pm

Well, I've been admonished by certain people who will remain unnamed to post pictures. So here are some of our first full day in San Diego.

We went to Fiesta Island (on Mission Bay) so Jed could do some swimming. They allow dogs in the Bay from here but no other place. It was Jed's first time doing anything somewhat strenuous since hurting his neck & he did well. I didn't throw the ball far, but a couple of times he had to swim for it.

He's wearing his harness so I can grab him if need be. At one point he took off down the beach to visit another dog. A biscuit brought him back in short order.

Image

Across from where we were playing was a Youth Aquatic Camp. There were lots of kids out in kayaks. And there were folks riding horses on the island, too, but I didn't get any pictures of that.

Image

He was a happy camper!

Back at the campground, my site is right next to a wildlife preserve. Lots of birds that come and go with the tides. Across the bay is Sea World, and if I stay up late enough (fell asleep last night at 9:00) I'll be able to see the fireworks they shoot off every night.

Image

Here's Jed after the day's activities. I'd say that he's pooped!

Some friends are coming down tomorrow & staying until Friday in their own trailer. We'll be geocaching around the Bay, so if I remember I'll take the camera along. Hopefully the weather will cooperate. They're talking about showers tomorrow night into Wednesday! Love the cooler weather, though.

That's all for now!

Great pics, and yes, I'd say Jed is one happy camper. I wonder if swimming is as good for dogs as people with strains, etc? You might be helping him even more by getting him in the water which he seems to love.

Looks like a great place to be. Enjoy - both of you. And thanks for the pics.

In San Diego there is a garden that you might enjoy can't remember the name of it but would
think it is listed somewhere it has a lot of different plants from around the world as I remember the article

Great pics of your campsite and of Jed! I am so happy to see him up and about and having some fun. Good luck with the geocaching activities, and give Jed a big hug from me and a lick from Molly!

Laura - Thanks for sharing pix. Jed sure is having a grand time and you will too. Hope you get to see the fireworks each night. Arroyo Grande had their Centinneal last weekend. There was a great fireworks display Sunday night.

Jed is gonna have a sore tail from wagging it so much! Happy dog!!!

I saw Mission Bay a couple weeks ago when I met up with my Happy Camper friends. Very pretty place! We were on Vacation Island. Would love to kayak around Mission Bay! Will have to check out that campground.

Can't wait to see more pics!
