Wild Times in Richmond GTG

Let's get together!

Another mini-GTG in Chester, VA

Postby flick4411 » Wed Jul 06, 2011 9:40 pm

So Tina is here with Hershel and Remi who I hope to meet tomorrow. We met up and had dinner at an Italian place here. (For those of you who wonder, I don't cook that much--I can, but I don't...). And right now the house is in a state of constant disruption as I go through it and pack some things and toss others out. So a restaurant it was. We had a great time; was so nice to meet her. But we decided we needed to share the description of the wine we had which was called a Riff Pinot Girgio. The description said, and I quote, "The complex mineral backbone of this wine reflects the alluvial soil fund in the foothills of the Dolomites; a part of the Alps rich in limestone-made fossil deposits left by an ancient ocean ("Riff" is German for reef)." And I'm very proud to say I know what alluvial soil is! :o Now aren't you all impressed! :D

So before Mitchy asks if we fossils like our wine, lemme say that this is the first and only wine I've ever had that could possibly make my bones stronger. That's my story and I'm sticking to it!!!!! ;)

And yes, it was good, we liked it alot, and by the way, we don't qualify for fossil status yet, Mitch! :o :o

By the way, Tina has the only pics...unfortunately my plan to leave work and run home to grab the camera turned into me calling Tina and telling her I was on my way--late as usual. I can't wait until I actually don't have to worry about the clock all day long cuz then maybe I'll be on time for dinner! LOL...

I am parked here at Pocahontas State Park outside Richmond, VA, on the recommendation of Li. (Gee Mitch, she might really be a nice....)

I met Li for dinner tonight.

Unfortunately I always forget to take a picture of the plates when they first come out.....and we were both hungry.

and thirsty, too!

Li was originally planning to be camping this weekend but work and one sick kitty changed plans but I got to go see Baby anyway! She looks so sweet just sitting there patiently waiting for someone's retirement....... :)

Aren't they beautiful?

Love these mini gtg's. The wine sounds great and our bones can certainly use all help they can get-I'm thinking I just might quit taking my calcium and stock up on that wine  Saw with post with pic-you two quickly devoured all that food  carold

Very fun! Meeting folks and putting voices & faces with names makes reading their posts even more fun. And that food ... yummm!

Thanks for remembering your camera, Tina. Li ... take a lesson. ;)

Tina, I sure hope that a trip to the Left Coast is on your list some day. Jed sure would like to met Herschel & Remi!

You ask and you receive - posts merged!

Looks like a grand time is being had. And food being eaten, and drinks going down oh so easy ... Yep, a good time.

Lazy eye???? I thought that was the wine! Absolutely loverly picture of Li and FooFoo! She's beeyoutiful and you have every right to be proud of her!

I happen to know what alluvial soil is too! I learned it in Death Valley from a ranger and it just happened to be one of those words that stuck. In fact, I got a free dinner from Donna when we went there. I pointed it out to her and told her what it was. She didn't believe me, and I had to do a U-turn (in the jeep, thank goodness) and take her back to the sign that explained it. Dinner on her that nite! LOL!

Looks like a great mini and good food. Nuttin' better!
