The peace that I read in your announcement that your Mom is now at rest, is the result of all the years of grieving that you have already done. Her loss will always be with you, but the love and memories you shared with your Mom, will be with you forever. The time with your family will be what you all need to remember who she was and how she was and lay these past few years away. No one chooses to live a long life with that desease, now She is Free !!!

My mother died about a year ago. She also had severe dementia, and I also was relieved at her passing. She never wanted to live the way she had lived the last few years of her life--fearful and agitated becuase she never knew where she was or why she was there. She worried about how she would manage because she thought she had no clothes or money to pay for food.

I was happy that she no longer had to worry so much and be so debilitated.

Don't let anyone make you feel guilt for not grieving or feeling sorrow. Your mother is no longer in such a difficult state.
