Hello - New From The Plains

Postby WanderinMoon » Thu Jun 30, 2011 1:19 pm

Hello Everybody :)

So glad to have found this group. For some time I thought maybe I was crazy to have this dream of traveling around in an RV by myself, and then I found this group a couple months ago. So I guess I'm not crazy, or maybe I found a bunch of other crazy people? Smiles

But seriously I am shocked as I research the net just how many women are doing this and having a great time. I've been reading a lot and getting a sense of it all. I think I want a 20 something foot Class C, 2005 or so. I'm planning to visit an RV place soon with my brother just to check things out more, and I have been looking at pics on the net.

I can't say I've had a lot of experience with RV's, but have taken a lot of vacations.Years ago I took off in a van with my daughter and then-husband for 2 months and it was great. So many places I haven't seen though, but my favorite is the Zion National Park area.

I love nature so much it's just not right to stay put where I am all the time. There are so many vistas to experience.
From this love of nature I ended up making my living doing a kind of freelance 3D nature art on my computer, so traveling would be so inspirational to me.
I'll have to get one of those satellites as wireless doesn't work so well for virtual games.

I've been really ill but am recuperating now, and it's interesting how your priorities come to the forefront when you wonder how much time you have left. All I could think about was all the beautiful vistas I wanted to experience, and to maybe translate some of that beauty into art.

Hi Wanderin. If you're like me, when you do start traveling in an rv, you'll never want to stop! I go through an area and see everything on my list plus some - move on, and discover all kinds of things I miised. Amazing.

Glad to have you with us. And yes, we sure do learn about priorities when we are ill, or close family or friends are ill, etc. At least I sure did and continue doing so.

Welcome to our campfire! :) Looking at RVs and imagining is part of the exploring that most of us never give up, even after we find ours! Enjoy and remember to share with us.

Welcome,
Your comments are well stated. I too love nature so much I could not sit still in one place, knowing all that is out there and that my time was running out I just had to get on the road. It literally takes my breath away to see the wildlife and the magnificent scenery I see everyday...right now as I type this a buck is walking toward my trailer out of the tall grass, apprently bedded down in there this morning. After many hundreds of deer sightings I still get excited, it will never be mundane like it is to others.

One thing I wanted to mention is that since I knew that I was going to full-time for many many years, hoping to make it until I meet my maker I figured I needed a large roomy RV. I was afraid a smaller one would make me stir-crazy, but now, I wish I had not gone so large, 30 ft TT. I would love to have an RV that I could pull into small, off the beaten path sites, and if I could do it over I would love to have a short class C (with a slide) and a 4-wheel drive toad. Even though I would have to unhook the toad to get into some of these sites...so be it. But I am having the TIME OF MY LIFE!!!!!!!!!!!!!
