Let's get together!

Birdie, I am pretty sure I'm going to stay at Rayfords Crossing. Haven't made a reservation yet, but since the main purpose of my visit is to spend time with DS and his fam, I think it will be the best spot for me. I know it is pricey, but the location seems to be the best.

Looking forward to meeting you.

Arrived here today. And guess what? The new AC unit that I just replaced last Saturday is blowing warm air! So, I have a call into a mobile repair place and hope to hear from them first thing in the morning. If not, I'll call the second one on my list. Too dang hot in Texas to not have BOTH AC units working full tilt!

Love my GPS...the new one, Sir Rand. I had put in for him to avoid toll roads, so he brought me in the back way. It was just my kind of driving too...not on I-45, but on FM 1690 and State HW 90. Thank you Sir Rand. Actually, the GPS did very well as far as I am concerned. Wish I could trust my RV as much as I can trust Sir Rand!

Looking forward to meeting Birdie in a few days.

Ouch.....it is no fun to spend good money and then not get reliable results :? Will be thinking "fix it fast" thoughts.... :)

Looks like I'll be over there and will stay at Spring Oaks RV and MH Park. Will be looking for Martha to come over too. Anyone else in the area will be looking for you.

Martha and Birdie arrived sometime during the heat of the afternoon. They came over to my campground and we visited for a bit before we went to get a bit of dinner. We found a little bar-b-que place just up the road.

Martha's dinner. Mine looked much the same but I had cole slaw and corn on the cob with mine. It was good, plenty to take home for another time.

When we walked out of the restaurant the sky was pretty dark so we decided it would be best to just bring me home and them to scoot home to batten down the hatches before the rains came. I hope they made it home before the skys opened up. I had just enough time to take Bailey for a quick walk.

Anyway, it was great to meet both ladies and tomorrow we plan on going to Old Town Spring to look around and maybe do a little shopping? Hopefully we will sweat off most of that dinner from tonight!

Oh boy, those ribs look fantastic! Out here in Ca their idea of BBQ is to smother everything in sauce. Lots and lots of icky sauce that I spend more time scraping off than I do eating. No smoke flavor whatsoever. Looks like a great time so far, wish I was there! Sigh.

Good morning ladies. I do have a few more pictures I took yesterday as we toured Old Town Spring and sampled some sauerkraut balls! I will try to get them on here later...

Last night Nancy, Martha and I shared our leftovers of ribs with a few added goodies and had dinner together at Nancy's place. We had a nice visit (but it was just too short!) and sampled some chocolate wine too.

Nancy and Martha were pulling out this morning and heading for home. I was supposed to hit the road today too, but have extended my stay until Monday in hopes of getting my AC installed before I depart. No word yet from the place that it is supposed to be delivered to (on Tuesday, Wednesday at the latest) so they can install it. Waiting...not my favorite game!

Thanks Nancy and Martha, for coming to meet me in Houston! I feel honored and really enjoyed your company. And if either of you ever make it to the north east, I'm real close to I-95!

Nancy and Martha seem very good and finding people that come near their corner of the universe! I need to study Birdie's technique of taking pictures before the food gets eaten. The brain needs to jump in before the stomach takes over for sure. Keeping out fingers and paws crossed hoping that the AC units arrives and get producing results soon. Then again if you slow down enough maybe you can make some extra TN stops. There is that great resort in the western part of the state....it has always gotten the best reviews!

I was at Toledo Bend Lake on the Louisiana/Texas border for the weekend. Monday I drove over to Livingston State Park and spent the night. Wish I had ask for a lake front site but probably couldn't have gotten one. Tuesday I drove to Spring to meet up with Birdie. Birdie found us a great campground, good price, clean and quiet. We went and picked up Paulette and went to the B-B-Q place. So good to see Birdie again and meet Paulette. Wednesday Joella drove over and met us and we all went to Old Town Spring. I had been hearing about it but never had been. Vickie couldn't join us because she is taking care of her Granddaughter and they were too busy playing with their Barbie dolls. lol Vickie recommended the restaurant we ate at and the food was very good. We had to try the sauerkraut balls. It was sauerkraut mixed with sausage, rolled into balls, dipped in batter and fried. You would never have guessed what was in them if you didn't know.

Birdie and I pulled out this morning, she was going West and I was going East. I decided to head South to take Hwy 82 along the Louisiana coast. I hadn't been along the coast in about 3 years. More people have moved back and built elevated houses and camps. I had forgotten that I would have to take the Cameron Ferry but it is not that bad. It was partly cloudy all day so the temperature was in the low 90's instead of almost 100. A nice day to travel.

Paulette, I hope your air conditioner came in. I'm glad I got to meet you and when you have time we'll try the food in Louisiana. lol
