CRISPY COLD LAST DAY OF SPRING!

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

CRISPY COLD LAST DAY OF SPRING!

Postby Nasoosie » Mon Jun 20, 2011 4:34 am

GOOD COLD MORNING TO ALL!

It's just 38 degrees out there this morning, and tomorrow is the first day of summer! The sun is creeping up, showing fog over the pond and back fields, and it looks as if it will another beautiful day. Molly is still burrowed down in my bed, staying warm, and I'm sitting here in a hooded fleece jacket, long fleece pants, and heavy duty slippers and socks.

It's looking as if my family will be here for the 4th of July after all! Not many days left to get all beds and rooms and sleeping quarters ready! My brother and sister-in-law are coming on Saturday, Goog and Melissa are planning to fly in on Friday night, Mandy and Joe are already here, and friends will arrive whenever---hopefully with tents and campers of their own for sleeping space!

Coffee feels so good on my cold hands this morning and in my gut, too! Come on in and have a cup, and tell us about your day. I'm off to the laundromat in town to wash tons of bedding, and to pick up some outdoor grade plywood to park the trailers on.....both the new and old one need some so I don't have to battle hitting the skimpy boards I have now.

Have a fun Monday everybody!
Life is about learning to dance in the rain
Happy travels!

Morning,

Thanks for the coffee, Soos. Always tastes good first thing. i had another rough night. I have had a touch of vertigo going on for several days. Always seems worse in the AM. Probably all brought on by allergies.

Today our weather is suppose to start acting like it's suppose to. We will be in the high 70s, low 80s for the next week.

Also today my SIL has his Dr appt with a specialist for the spot on his liver that showed up when they checked him for kidney stones. Prayers appreciated.

The weekend of rain was welcomed as I finally got some flowers planted last week and also decided to try growing grapes. I was a bit upset yesterday when I checked on those as the slugs are at them already and I am out of bait. I did not feel up to driving to get some but did check the plants over, then made a salt ring around the base, a few inches from the plant. Hope that doesn't kill them, too.

Watching the news about the flooding and wildfires. Talk about an oxymoron!
We've had the second coldest/wettest Spring in 117 yrs.

Ok, need to rest my eyes as the vertigo tends to make them shaky.

Have a blessed day!

Good morning

It is hard to believe this year is half gone already. Been so hot here already, you'd never know summer is just arriving. Heat index for today is headed for 105! At least we finally had some rain.

Sister is feeling better and after 10 days here decided she wanted to go back to her house and soft bed for a few days. Against my better judgement, took her and niece back to her house. No medical appointments this week so they will likely stay there most of week then come back to my house the following week (several tests scheduled for last week of June).

My new microwave should arrive this afternoon. So excited to know I'll have one again; one appliance I've truly missed as old one kicked the bucket.

Still trying to get estimates for tree removal and roof repair plus deal with insurance company. Seems to take forever.

Hope everyone has a more exciting day planed than I do. Think I'll take cue from Tina and work on some de-cluttering.

Good morning !!! Maggie and I, have just gotten back from a nice walk. We did a really nice thing for ourselves, Sat. Went down to the Ranger station on the Ocoee river and got ourselves a parking pass. What a lovely place to get ourselves back into walking. If you go early enough, its cool and shaded and not many there. As we were leaving, they were really starting to come in, so we will always go early. Trying for Mon., Wed. and Fri. and Sat., me and schedules don't do well, but we need to do something for ouselves until we are situated to go to a Nat'l forest park, not far from us, and do some nice camping and hiking and swimming there. Have a number of things must do first, before I am free enough to do that. The real problem is my frig. in r.v. has decided to not stay running on propane, which is a nessecity to go camping there. Runs fine on electric. So that needs to be checked out.

When I saw the pix that Tina put in of her desk area, I thought, my gosh I thought I had that mess all cleaned up   Thats what mine looked like a couple of months ago, beginning to get there again but slowly. Didn't read what your plans were, you running away somewhere, Tina?

Oh Soos, your morning sounds wonderful, really cool mornings I love, if temp rises during the day some, not go all the way to summer temps though :) , its perfect. I have no idea, where Spring went, we have been into summer since the day we left our frigid winter

If we don't have another stormy afternoon, late this afternoon, I must mow my yard, temps still in the 90's by then, but sun sets in west and I have a nice tree line which shades and makes me THINK its cooler :)

Sarah, glad to hear your sister is doing better. How you did without your micro this long, I'd be lost without mine, just might have to go out and use the one in r.v.

Hope you all have a wonderful day. Those traveling, don't let the vehicles run hot and you stay as cool as you can and above all, Stay Safe
CArol :)

Almost there, the best way to treat slugs is with beer. Put out a couple of relatiely flat saucers. Push them down into the dirt so their rims are just barely above ground. Add about a 1/2 inch of beer in each one. (You can save the beer for the next night or drink it!)

The the morning, the saucers will be filled with lots of litte drunk slugs who came for the beer and succumbed. The alcohol kills them but they do like the beer. Remove dead slugs and put more beer out the next day,

Gruesome but it works and you can feel they went down happy.

good morning one and all
was a busy day at the airport yesterday :D but have a few days off now to get caught up on stuff once again.
Will make a trip over to the post office to check my mail and stop by the school district to visit and see if they
have a schedule for me yet for July. Will also stop by my favorite grocery store over there to get my dog food and
a few other items.
Not much else going on in my world right now but I'm loving being able to get stuff done. Washer is done, need to
hang my shirts and then get dressed. Enjoy your day and be safe.

Soos, I would like to have some of your cool weather. It's not too hot today, low 90's. It is actually cloudy. Hope the 10% chance of rain happens here.

I have a feeling that there is something I should do today. Guess if I don't show up for something I will hear about it.

My son and his new family came yesterday. Four of the house cats evaporated. Posie, the greedy one, decided there was too much action going on in the kitchen that she was going to risk it. My son's 2 step-daughters, 10 and 3 years old, were both petting her. She thought that was OK. I was surprised at how good she was with the kids. The oldest is good with animals. When we walked out to the barn we only saw 2 cats at a distance. When I go to feed by myself I can't walk in the feed room for the cats underfoot.

I was wondering how Tina got a picture of my office but mine is worse. I usually burn papers that need to be shredded and we are under a burn ban. Things are starting to stack up.

I noticed the inspection sticker has expired on my motorhome. The next time I go to town I need to go in it and get it inspected just in case I get to go somewhere.

My guys at the rv repair got me in at 0800 this morning, so I was in and checked in by 0745...they said they should have it done today, but I'm not holding my breath. I was just glad they got me in that fast. They should, I've given them enough money this month!! LOL! Didn't even think about it, but the writer asked me if I had an extended warranty. Yikes! I had forgotten that I did, but seeing that I bought it in '05 and have never had to use it, I guess I'm excused. So hopefully this isn't going to hurt to badly. Got a few things I forgot to get at the grocery (like I'm not gonna be near a grocery in Tucson!! LOL), but I'll run over and get them anyway. I think I have everything in and packed (except for the cold stuff, but that's all organized on one shelf, so hopefully won't forget anything), she's washed except for the front window. I do that the evening before I leave. It's so dusty here it doesn't pay to do it to early. It was a nice day to wash Hope yesterday, not to hot but enough sun that I didn't get a chill when the wind blew the water back on me. I found a place on one of the lower panels where a sheet metal screw had come out and the panel was a little loose, so had to go rummage in the garage for one that was the right size. Got lucky and found one. Also had to fix the sliding door in the bedroom, it came off the bottom track. I'm really tempted to take those doors out, it would give me more room to get around the bed. Since I put the Samcat's litter box over there, it would make it easier to service that. I sure do love that new floor! Everytime I walk in I love it more. Now we'll see how much I love it in every day use.
Yeah, my office looks like Tina's too, need to get started on that. Tomorrow. Which never seems to come. Not for that job, anyway. OK, off to finish stuff up and wait for the call that Hope is all repaired and ready to roll tomorrow morning!
Hope everyone has a bootiful day!

Well, my first weekday of vacation has turned out to be an expensive one ... sigh.

My house AC compressor wouldn't go on last week so I called the home warranty company & set up an appointment for them to fix it. I've had this warranty since I bought the house 10 years ago and it's paid for itself many times over. But today ... not so much. Turns out that a little varmint has flossed its teeth on the wires connecting it to my thermostat. And don't you know that animal damage isn't covered under my warranty?! So, $410 later -- and 30 min. of work -- my AC unit is now ready for the hot weather that's on its way later this week.

It fries my hide that companies won't pro-rate their time when it's just a short visit. But in talking with a friend who's worked for the gas company for 35 years I was assured that their charges weren't outlandish and I ought to bite the bullet & get it done -- especially since it'll be much harder to get someone out once the weather heats up.

So, my slush fun just melted in a big way. But I'm glad it's fixed. Now, off to the store to get some steel wool to plug the hole until I can get it stuccoed up. Sounds like fun, doesn't it? ;)

Laura, I feel your pain! Our a/c went out last night, the inside unit was blowing, but the outside unit wouldn't come on. This morning it came on for a few minutes and back off. It was installed in 2007 during the flood repairs, so it may have some stuff under warranty. The repairman will be here this afternoon. Thankfully the temps are supposed to stay around the high 80's this week so with fans, we should be okay, a lot better than the upper 90's last week!

Martha, we got a 30 second rain shower this morning!

I have done that, and it does work. I just got tired off emptying the "slug soup", and all the saucers strewn about my flowerbeds. Thanks for the suggestion, tho. Much appreciated. :D

Laura: sorry about the big AC expense. In the end it's $$ well spent, tho. :)

We got a month's worth of rain yesterday (temps in the high 40s), and today it's getting into the 80s. Finally. Then by the end of the week the 90s will arrive.

I have to admit I'm a less than stellar housekeeper. And, it turns out, in serious denial. As a rainy-day activity, I pulled my living room apart yesterday and OMG. But today the furniture is rearranged, dusted and the floors Murphy's soaped. LOL. This morning I lit into the kitchen with a vengeance. That room is mostly cluttered. Boxing up stuff at a respectable rate. Taking a load to the thrift store today.

Next: The bedroom. If you hear sirens, say a prayer for me.

My name is Sharon and I'm allergic to housework. That's my story and I'm stickin' to it!! My spring cleaning is a couple of years late. sigh.

On a happy note, the fridge is fixed and I'm waiting for the daughter to come take me down to get it. On a not so happy note, the fix wasn't covered under the warranty. It was the board, but it didn't need a new one, just reset. Oh well. I was gonna make this trip no matter what, even if I had to motel it. I promised the grand girls that they would have a vacation with g'ma and have one they will! We're on the road tomorrow at 0800!

I'm with Sharon - allergic to housework. LOL Used to love all that stuff but not any more! Just pay to have someone come clean the house. Now, the MH that's another story - need to clean it each time it's used.

Sharon - how did your TV replacement in your MH and floor replacement go? Bet you are happy with everything. Would love to see pix!!

Laura, hope the little varmint got fried. These warranty company's can sure put in the loopholes. Our homeowners insurance has increased from about $1000 to $4000 and they have put in new exclusions. We aren't covered for wind driven rain so I'm sure any hurricane damage will be a fight to get paid for.

I'm allergic to housework too. Wish I could just vacuum the cats to cut down on the cat hair the collects under everything. I told my son he could hold them and I would vacuum them.

Vickie, we had at least 5 minutes of rain but now the sun is back out. Sure hope we get some of the rain that is predicted this week. Last summer we got a lot of rain and I never did have to worry about our ponds. This year I can see them going down every day.
