When my husband was looking for something I would ask him if he looked in a certain place and he would reply "I call myself" which I learned meant that yes, he had looked there. That one was weird to me. But the modern teen language is the slang I have been most exposed to. When a place is slammed or dunk that means it is very busy or has a lot of people there waiting (like in the guidance office the first few days of school with all the kids wanting their schedules changed). And when I wore some sandals a girl liked she said they were tight. So today in the ER when the pulmonary tech listened to my lungs and said they were tight I thought of this conversation and asked how he meant that. No, it wasn't good. He meant something bad. Good news, test confirmed I had no clots in my lungs. Bad news is that I blew my IV line and my army looks like a battlefield. Long story short: I have a a persistent case of bronchitis (never had that) and am on some steroids for a few days. Oh, and I'm laying around doing warm compresses on the bruising in my arm from the blown IV to prevent getting a blood clot. What a way to start retirement.

Only if I'm willing to risk a blood clot. I will see my regular doctor today and he will help me out with the necessary paperwork to make use of my trip insurance. I have a genetic disorder called factor five leiden which predisposes me to bloodclots - I've had 3 but have been clot free since 2000 - which means I have to take some measures that folks without this anomoly don't even think about. Taking a long 8 hour flight right after a severe bruising event is a big no no for me. In fact, all long flights are difficult for me. When I flew to Asia, a 12 hour flight, I spent more time walking the aisels than sitting in my seat. Besides, I don't think anyone wants to be on a plane with a woman who is coughing and breathing like a kid with the whooping cough. Just not my time to see the queen, I guess.

Well drat! I'm so sorry this turn of events happened. :( Hopefully you'll be able to use the ticket another time when it's safe(r) for you to travel. Thank heaven for travel insurance, huh?

When I traveled all last year, there was nothing but a convestion oven and it was not a problem...sometimes really fast. The one I used was an over the range unit. I have used this type of oven many times through the years and don't be afraid of it, may take some adjustments. No the turntable does not turn while it is on cnvection.
Convection means...hot air in motion..they say it cooks faster and more even because the hot air moves around the food.
YOU can do it! Rita

In my MH I have the Convection/Microwave combo. I love it now that I know how to use it. I also have a turntable that I can turn on or off. For some of my rectangle pieces I turn it off and the smaller ones or round ones I leave it on. I have 2 racks for it too. A low one and a higher one, not too sure what they are for but I use em when I am "convecting".

Karen, the 2 racks are so you can stack them and cook 2 dishes at the same time. Haven't tried that, either. Guess it would come in handy if I had company and was serving tv dinners! LOL!

The racks are also for when you use microwave in it - to microwave you need things off the bottom (in a micro-convection). Things don't work quite the same in a "just" convection or "just" micro - and some of the rv micro-convections don't work quite the same as home ones. My turntable turns during convection cooking and can't be turned off, for example. Hasn't hurt anything I've cooked - so far.

Do you microwave popcorn? That's how I discovered it. Never worked right without the rack. Then I discovered a site online that talked about it - and now I raise everything I cook in the microwave. Didn't need to do that in the old micro only unit. Seems to cook things faster if raised. Don't need to do it with my egg cooker - good thing, as it won't fit on the rack :)

I'm not much of a popcorn eater but the BF went thru a phase of eating a couple of bags a day....I burned several bags before I read the book and figured out they had to be raised, but I put them on an inverted glass pie plate. Never thought of using the rack! Forgot that you can use metal in those microwaves. He has the micro-convection in his toy trailer, same one as I have, so at least I didn't have a learning curve when he got it. It terrifies him, he still won't use anything on it except the micro.
