Perris Lake State Park

The first part of my day, I spent at Perris Lake just a ways north of me. Haven't been there before so thought I would check it out today since it was a beautiful day outside! Stopped at an Indian Museum first and looked around. Lots of Indian history in this area.

I walked around the beach area for awhile and took photos and then set up my new beach chair under a tree and read my book while people and boat watching. They rent bikes there too, so lots of people riding around on the bike paths. It is a pretty nice park. There is camping there too.

The closer "hill" in the center,is actually an Island that you can park your boat at and hike or picnic on:

Nice! Also nice to see that it wasn't packed with people. Thanks for sharing the beautiful photos.

Wow, Barbie-----what a beautiful park that is! Do you have to pay to go there? I love parks that are on the water and where you can swim. The beach is beautiful! We don't have many beaches up here in the north country, although we have many lakes for swimming. The forest usually comes right down to the edge of the water, so, when we find a rare beach area along a lake, we don't forget where it is!

Thanks for the great pics!

Soos, Lake Perris is very typical of the lakes in So. California. Sometimes there's an admission fee, depending on who operates them, but it's usually nominal. Even the lakes up in the mountains where there are pine tree forests have a beach. For many people who are too far from the ocean the lakes (what few of them there are) are the only respite from the heat in the summer. Perris is very, very warm in the summer & I imagine that only the heat lovers spend much time there. OR those with water toys who spend the whole day in the lake. :)

Great little park. Since it is so nearby, maybe you can go often now that you'd "discovered" it.

There are a couple other lakes around here that I want to check out. Most lakes out here are actually reservoirs. This one had a $10 admission. I think I was the only non-hispanic person there, tho! Not a problem, but wasn't hearing much English being spoken! I think Perris is kind of a heavy hispanic population tho. Sharon might know more about that since she doesn't live too far from there.
