Hi Ladies!

Come on in and say hello.

Hi Ladies!

Postby Dawn » Tue Jun 07, 2011 4:36 pm

My name is Dawn and I live on the west side of Los Angeles. Tho I don't have an RV yet, I have wanted one for years because it sounds like a great way to travel. I'm still doing my homework to learn all about RVing, but I hope to rent one soon to take a short trip and see how it works for me. I guess my greatest concern (other than the costs) is whether I will have trouble driving something so large (the only cars I've ever owned have been small sports cars) - I guess the only way to find out is to try it. :]

Take care!
Dawn

HI and Welcome, Dawn. No one can tell you how easy or hard it'll be to drive except you. But I'll admit that while I love driving little cars - I find driving my Class C easier. Love being up higher and being able to see down the road. I'll be looking forward to hearing how you feel after you rent one.

Dawn, welcome from just south of L.A.! :D I don't have an RV yet either but have learned a lot in the year and a half I have been on here!

Laura, isn't there a big RV show down your way soon? Maybe you two could go to that, or one of the many RV dealers around there.

It would help to have an experienced RVer to go with you Dawn, to ask questions and get honest answers (versus a salesperson with a sales agenda).

Good luck!

Welcome Dawn!
Good for you. I've been RVing all my life but fulltiming for just the last 6 months...It's hard to find words to describe how fullfilling this is. I am so grateful every day that I get to do this. Literally having the time of my life....Bet you will too!

Keep us posted on your progress. Everyone on this forum has good info to share and you'll get to filter what works for you,

Good Morning Dawn,
I am now living in NC, after 40+ years in Los Angles area. Love it here, but very excited about getting into the RV life style also. I own a home for sale and once that is gone, so am I...on wheels. Too bad we are not closer as I would love to have a friend to share the beginning process with, even travel together for awhile to learn the ropes.
I wish you well and encourage you to follow the dream, maybe someday we will cross the path of that dream.
God Bless Rita

Hi Dawn (from an ex-Signal Hill resident). I bought in November a 30' C Class and had never driven anything bigger than a 3/4 ton truck. So having 30 feet is pretty awesome and scary. But I have slowly gotten used to it; but that has come only after I banged it up the day I drove it off the lot! OMG! But luckily I only scrapped up a fender over the dual wheels in the back. I've been much, much more careful, going very slowly around corners and checking, checking and checking the mirrors. I wish you a great "rental" road trip. I am currently in Central VA, and my last trip was up the I-95 to just south of the DC area. Had a blast and loved driving on the freeway--as Beth said, it's great to be up and above the average car and see way far ahead and pretty well on either side. The trade off is that you can't see directly behind you. Had to get used to the idea that those behind me were on their own!!!

Please let us inagural trip goes; and come back here often for advice, help, and lots of confidence building thoughts!! :D

Welcome Dawn to the forum. You've chosen a good group to help you along with your plans. As for the driving, RV's are not that hard. In many ways they are easier and I have found that the other cars on the road give me plenty of room to turn and maneuver on the road. If you have a hankerin for travel then go for it..the gypsy in us is relentless, never goes away :D
