The only thing that's in haircolor is ammonia and peroxide and those are used in cleaning agents anyway. If your scalp isnt harmed... your holding tank sure won't be harmed,, and besides,,,you dump it at LEAST once a week,,, i'd think. But rest easy on the tank part..

I don't mean to "beat a dead horse" but professional haircolor products are comprised of much finer quality ingredients than the crap we poor lay people have to buy at the drug store. If you leave it on your scalp for longer than recommended you will burn it right down to your skull and all your hair will burn off..so with that in mind I would opt for keeping it out of my tanks....but, I bet you're right about it not harming the seals, I just can't afford to have any expensive issues expecially ones that I caused myself...the ol ounce of prevention.....

Another thought to consider, guys: It might not be the individual chemicals we put in our holding tanks that are a problem, but the combination of products. For instance, we all know about not mixing bleach and ammonia together, but then we often use cleaning products that contain each like window cleaner or other products that have ammonia or bathroom cleaners and Comet with bleach! Our tanks are like a huge laboratory vat! Think carefully before you dump anything down your drains or toilets. Just sayin'.

As far as "store-bought" products being more harsh than professional ones,,, i gotta beg to differ, hon. It's been my experience that non professional stuff is LESS strong than professional stuff,, for the very reason that non pros are apt to overprocess,, overuse,, etc.. the products and therefore the manufacturers "water them down" somewhat. Believe me, you can "burn your hair up" waaaay worse w/ professional products & much easier and quicker than walmart stuff. That is NOT to say that you can't hurt your hair if ANY of them are miss-used. Just for curiosity sake,, have you ever burned your hair w/ anything? (Hoping not.)

But suit yourselves as to the methods of disposal of your hair chemicals. I'd probably say to you all if you're worried about it there's ALWAYS the aforementioned practice of using the campground showers to rinse off your finished product. I wouldn't stop coloring my hair nor give up my vanity for such a minor delimma! ;)

Good luck w/ your upcoming adventures..!
