Change of plans

Postby Mollysmom » Thu Oct 23, 2008 10:02 am

Well I've changed my plans and I'm not going to working at the lighthouse this winter. I love the area - it's a beautiful place to visit but once I met the volunteer coordinator and some of the staff and toured the RV sites I just had a bad feeling about living there. I decided to listen to that feeling - it's so strange that I wouldn't want to live on a beautiful site like that that I think it was really important for me to listen to my intuition. Weirdness !!!!!
I'm now trying to decide where to go - I have a couple of options (actually I have a zillion options - I'm thinking of a couple)
I'm either going to go up to Washington to stay close to my cousin and her friends. They came for a visit last weekend and I really enjoy my cousin's company and I just loved her friends and I think there may be some potential fun times there and a posible business opportunity that I'm not going to discuss just yet. I'm kind of tired of being alone and think a girls day, even once a month, would be awesome. Maybe just lunch once in awhile. If I go to WA I'd volunteer at a very cool animal shelter in Stanwood.
If I don't go there - I'll go south but stay on the OR coast - I really like being by the ocean and I love Oregon. Not sure what I'd find but it'd be an adventure.
I'm thinking of driving the truck up to my cousin's this weekend and scoping out the campground and animal shelter so I sort of know what I'm getting in to - I hate spending the gas money but think it'd be a good "investment in my future" plus I'd get to stay at my cousin's house for free and take a bath !!! I miss having a bathtub :D
The money situation should be OK thru winter - I wasn't going to get paid at the lighthouse but I was going to live for free. I'll need to cut back on expenses a bit, but once I'm somewhere, I'll stay for the winter months and then I won't be spending alot for fuel so that'll help.
Not sure if this is the right thing to do but here I go !!!

Trudy, always listen to the gut. It's when we don't that we get in trouble. Sounds like you have a couple of good options and life is too short to do things that don't feel right. All I can say is "go for it, whatever the "it" is." Good luck!

It took me a long time to figure out that "gut feeling" was really God's Holy Spirit leading me...usually steering me away from trouble. The times I ignored it I have always rued. Now I don't spend time agonizing about the decision; I just praise Him for His wisdom and move on to better things.

I always go with a gut feeling when it hits. You'll be fine and the right opportunity
will come knocking. Washington is beautiful, I have family and friends up there too.
I made a trip there in the 80's and fell in love with its beauty.

I agree with everyone else - go with your gut feelings. I was offered a job at the KOA in Medford Oregon which I turned down because it was too far for me to drive. If interested, you might call them. As I recall it was about 18 hrs for your site/electric and they paid for hours over 18.

If I'm remembering correctly you were the one that pinned the name of Jello Plans. Just doing Jello plans
So for it enjoy what ever you decide to do. If you go up to Washington I'll give a friend of mine your name and address and she will be a friend also
They have a sail boat but I won't say that they will take you out but maybe!!!

I've tried several times this morning, to add my two cents worth to our columns here, have to try once more on yours. Raining so may be my service here.

You have taken us on quite a journey, I for one have loved your honesty of feelings and thoughts and the humor in all of your choices and decisions. You seem to have forgotten the golden rule, "WE ARE WOMEN, WE CAN CHANGE OUR MINDS". This winter with family and new friends, next winter who knows?. Your house has wheels and you can be wherever you want to be.

God Bless you Trudy

What everyone else has said! If something gave you bad vibes, etc - you need to go with those.

My first workamping job, I felt lucky in that it was what I expected and wanted for that time. A month into it while exploring on my days off, I stopped at a cg that had been a possiblity to workamp at also. I had such bad feelings when I went in there to spend the night, that I never introduced myself as was the plans (for a possible future job) and left early the next morning with intentions to never return. Can't say just why I had those feelings - but oh, I never would have worked there - would have had to back out - so, yep, listen to those feelings - we don't know why we get them, but they are there for a reason.

Enjoy whatever you decide to do - and maybe you'll fall into something else for part of you coastal stay - lots of other places up there if you're interested. And then, of course, you have the family in WA - maybe you're meant to spend the time with them. :)

Trudy

Have you decided to head south yet?? I was going to tell you Brookings is a very nice southern coastal town with the best coast weather around. I dont know much about the RV Parks as I have never camped there just driven thru.

I am heading to Eureka, CA the middle of December for a job assignment for 3 months on the coast. If you get down to Southern Oregon coast let me know, another visit could just be necessary.

Here's what I'm going to do - at least for now !
I'm going to head back to Florence OR for the month of November. I stayed in Florence on my way up here and I just loved it - the campground was very nice, I could walk to a couple of stores and I felt very safe there. I love the area - the beach is just awesome and it makes me happy to be there. I didn't stay long enough to really explore the town so I'll do that this time. I know there's an Old Town area that's suppose to be really nice - I'm excited to see it.
I'll see how the month goes - if I want to stay longer I will, if not I'll head south. Karen I was thinking the Brookings area looked nice along with Coos Bay and Bandon. I also was thinking some time in Eureka would be great. I'm just going to see how November goes.
I think I'm finally ready to slow down - I'm ready to give myself time to relax and listen to my heart.

Trudy you can boondock at the Mill casino, theres a pay campground that is brand new and nice and then there is the huge area to boondock in. The marina by Reedsport on the Salmon Harbor/Winchester Bay was a fun place Umpquah Lighthouse is close by. Think we paid $11 a night boondocking at the marina.
Bandon is a fun area especially all the little shops. We did not get a chance to go back there this year but we drove past it.

Glad you are finally relaxing and taking your time. Enjoy , you'll be in places that I love being at :D

Trudy, I did a search on Florence and it looks to be a great town. Here is their website, but I'm sure you probably have checked it out already.
Have a great day!
