Rabbits - The Big Day update

Postby asirimarco » Wed Jun 01, 2011 6:59 am

Amazing I remembered to say Rabbits this morniong - sure hope some of its Karma works - need some here.
Bill went over to Bloomington Hospital yesterday morning for his preop testing and had another "episode" right there at the "filling out the paperwork" desk. So he was rushed to emergency and was promptly admitted. That hospital is about 4x bigger than the other one. When they moved him from emergency to the cardiac floor they moved him in his bed at NASCAR speed. The nurses told me it was standard procedure to go fast and they meant it. One was in front clearing the hallway of people and obstructions. "Get out of the way." "Move that chair." etc. The other was pushing the bed, I almost had to run to keep up with them. By the time we got to the elevator I was ready to lay down on the bed with him. Puff puff puff! the male nurse said he was surprised I kept up with them - so was I. They got him settled in a private room on the cardiac care floor and he is doing and feeling fine again. (he was laughing about the ride) Even fed him a tuna salad sandwich for lunch. They are keeping his heart rate below 50 and his blood pressure below 100 so he now talking with a drawl. Doesn't remember when they did the invasive test on him when he was in the Columbus hospital. Kind of worries me - hope he was just really doppy during that period of time. Seems to be remembering everything else though.
Yesterday afternoon they took him for "vein mapping" and surgery is still scheduled for tomorrow morning at 7:00 - this is starting to wear on me a little. I really dislike the drive into Bloomington - it is actually 1 mile shorter but takes a lot longer - lots of hills and curves. I know I sound whimpy about the driving - but since I retired about 9 years ago I have done very little driving - probably until last week less than 200 miles. If we go anywhere we go together and he drives. When I was working I drove usually about 100 miles a day on Los Angeles freeways and streets. And drove to Frisco, Arizona and Neveda several times. Just out of practice I guess.
We finally got our water back on after 24 hours. Electricity hasn't gone off for a couple of days -hoorey! Today isn't supposed to be quite as muggy but still up in the low 90s.
Going to call the RV place and let therm know we are going to store the RVs there for at least a couple of months more.
So that is where we are at right now. Will keep you posted.
Had friends drop by last night with salads for us for dinner - sure glad they came as I was in a blue mood.
Going to schedule a quick check up for myself - have never been bothered with high blood pressure but just want to check. Most of the time now it feels like the top of my head wants to blow off.

{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{carol}}}}}}}}}}}}}. Glad he was at the hospital when he had his episode. He is in the best place for now. And I'm sure you will both feel so much better when all this is over. Wish I was closer as I would volunteer to drive you back and forth whenever you wanted to go.

Good idea on the check up but it is probably just stress. Hang in there, this too shall pass.

Carol, I agree with what Paulette said about taking care of yourself and perhaps when you get checked out they can give you a little something to help with the stress.
I'm glad Bill is all tucked in and being watched over as I'm sure the latest episode was terrifying for you both.

Wish I lived closer to help out and at least be there so your not alone. I will continue praying for Bill and his medical team, and you, too.

Thinking "good Karma" and will keep you both in my thoughts. The driver at least waited until he was at the hospital to get back in trouble again. Don't borrow any extra worry, just take it as it comes. There will be enough as it is. Take care of yourself for sure. The driver needs you and you need yourself! (Those driving skills and comfort will come right back.....just be careful.)

Hello,

You and the driver are in my prayers.

I think it is a good idea for you to go get a check-up. You are under a lot of stress at this time and you need to take care of yourself.

Like all the others, I agree that if someone is going to have big troubles it's best to have them happen while you are at the hospital! Sure is a stressful time. After a few trips back and forth over the same route you will be driving fine and at least that part of your stress will get better. Get the checkup - it will ease your mind and perhaps the doctor can offer a little help with the stress.

Know that you have a bunch of friends pulling for both of you.

(((((((((((((((((((((((Carol))))))))))))))))) and prayers for you and Bill during this time. IF he had to have another attack, what a good place for it. Take care of yourself, and if you feel you need a check up, get it, so you know all is well with you, when you get Bill home and have to fuss to keep him down and following drs. orders, that might be a stressful time.

You have many friends here, that will be with you in thoughts and many of us, who wish we lived closer to give you a hug and a shoulder and be a real support. I believe in no time, Bill, is going to be giving you a hard time, because we all know husbands, never do as a dr. says.

Keep us posted as you can, please. Remember you are not alone in this !!!!!!

The scheduling the quick check is a good idea, but while you are visiting in the hospital, ask one of the nurses if they will check your blood pressure for you. Most will be glad to do it, especially if you tell them you are worried because of all the stress.

Then if it is high, you can tell whoever is scheduling that quick check, and they might get you in sooner. You don't want to have a stroke from high blood pressure right now.

Big hugs to you and Bill. Please do take care of yourself. I'm sure the stress of everything is making you nutty. So, talk to the nurses and doctors there to handle your stress so that you don't have something even more scary happen. Love you both and thinking only the best for both of you.

Big hugs to you and the Driver, Carol. And I agree with you and the others----make sure you get checked for blood pressure and stress, too. Keep us posted with the progress and outcome of all procedures.

I will send strength and healing powers your way.

What great advice you are getting from your friends on this forum. Close your eyes, take a big healing breath, release it and let all their good thoughts enter your mind and body. Be sure to let your own doctor know the stress you are experiencing. Ask for and accept help. :)
