Reporting in from California

Postby Marslet » Wed May 25, 2011 10:20 am

Hi Sistas,
Sorry for the slow posts, but have no bars in the mountains. so far we have been to the Grand Canyon, Sedona, Lake Havasu, Sequoias, and Yosemite.
The Sequoias were breath taking and Yosemite was awesome!!!!!! We saw a brown bear and walked around in the snow. Took hightwy 299 from Redding to Eureka, what a bear of a road. Jim says we have gone 3500 miles so far, and we are still 578 miles from Seattle. LOL
probably gonna have to wait until get home to post pics or maybe at Candi's when I have dependable service. We will see.
Raining, so guess we will go to the grocery store today. Heading to the redwoods when we get a break in the rain. Mist I don't mind, but this is rain.
Catch you later.

So glad you are enjoying your trip, and you've been to some awesome places that are still on my list. Looking forward to seeing your photos when you can post them. I know how it is when you're traveling in wilderness areas.

Hey Marslet, I'm glad you are enjoying CA! Yes, 299 across to the coast is a bugger! But I love the stretch along the river at the bottom. Enjoy the redwoods!!!!

Glad to hear all is well. We love that road too, even though it can be a little dicey at times. Did a similar route 2 years ago. Your speed of traveling is equal to what we usually do. Looking forward to when you can post pics. carold

Thanks guys for you kind posts. We spent two days on the Oregon Coast just enjoying the ruggedness of the coastline. YOu aren't gonna believe this, but Candi had to get her fix in early and drove 6 1/2 hours from Seattle to Florence, Oregon so she could see her mama and daddy. Kid got up after one night and drove back home this morning. Ohk, to be young again. LOL Jim and I drive about 6 hours a day, but it takes us all day to do it between the multiple breaks to get out and stretch our legs and backs.
Going to St. Helens in two days. We are in Portland now and gonna drive and sightsee the Columbia River Gorge agea.
