I can picture the snow! just have to look out the window we had snow sun rain wind snow and sunshine in that order...and am still not in our site..we went to our campground fresh snow across the road so thought what the heck we will run into Rexburg and get dh's meds and come back and see what we see...drove down the road and slid. I don't like to slide anytime let a lone when towing so we didn't attempt to move into our campground right now the plan is DH will get up in the am go see if we can get in safely if not we will stay here if the person comes that has this spot reserved we will move up by the host's and run a long cord..if he doesn't come we will stay put...not a good start to the year..
loved the pictures...I love Cardinals they are so bright and cheery and to me unusual we don't have them here in the intermountan west but we have the blue birds love them so hard to find so I loved your pictures...and the tanager believe we have them here in the campground but can't put any feeders out as all that stuff is bear attractant and we can't do that!! so miss putting out feeders love it in AZ where I can feed the birds and watch them up close...nothing said I can't put out flowers that might bring the hummers in close

You do realize don't you that it's very hot in southern UT in the summer? I would imagine that you do but it's very hot down there and it's a very dry heat..So where in AZ do you plan on going to this winter? We winter in Quartzsite

Kdmac, if you are near Elko, NV and want a place to stay, I am a camphost at Thomas Canyon Campground in the Ruby Mountains south of Elko. No hookups, but it is a forest service campground. Beautiful spot and hopefully all the snow in the campground will be gone by the time you come through.

YES! I WILL BE THERE! I have planned to see the Ruby Mountains and to camp there somewhere...Your campground wasnt in the books I have..but I did see it online, that's my kind of country..it is just beautiful there. Is there room for 30ft trailer? is there potable water there, I like to travel without water, makes me feel like I am saving gas...probably just marginal on that score. Is there a dump? I will check out the route to get to your campground, hopefully in mid June there won't be ten feet of snow up there. What is your elevation?

I leave this park on June 18. It's 330 miles from here to Elko..that's like traveling from Seattle to Spokane which I can do with my eyes closed...he hee....Anyway, I figure that's doable, If for some reason I decide to spend the night short of Elko area then... what's one more day...

Right now skies are black with rain, wind is blowing...but by mid June I bet we will finally have nearly summerlike weather.

Yes, I know it will be hot but I want to do the "Big Circle", see Cedar Breaks, Zion, Bryce, Canyonlands, Monument Valley, etc. So, I will just hang my head out the window like an old dog and try to stay cool....
I have made reservations at a RV park in Torrey Ut, it's up at 7000 ft so should be cooler there...but I am second-guessing myself about that location...I think I would have to back-track out of there to get to the main road, more than I want to backtrack...so still undecided where to stay. With gas prices I need to leave the TT at a home base and drive and camp from my truck whle doing the full circle...I love doing that...anyway...make me appreciate the TT when I return to it.

Then late September, or so, I will go to Quartzsite; never been there. My parents used to camp at Crystal Hill so I want to do that for 14 days then likely go to the nearby LTVA. But I have a restless spirit and may want to see other parts of Arizona...Although the idea is to stay at the inexpensive LTVA and stash my pension check in the bank...and sell artwork from my truck tail-gate...like a hobo....Tell me all you can about Quartzsite...what do you like best about the area?

I went online and found all the answers to my questions regarding the park so you don't need to answer all that. I am looking forward to being there. I intended to dry-camp while going though Nevada, but that campground is in such a pretty place I will stay a few days...I pretty much expected the Ruby Mountain campgrounds would all charge even a little.

Totally worth it for hiking as well as jeeping (we had to rent one, but my sister and BIL hired the guy from the local tourist bureau and said he was great). We just sailed thru the Basin Valley but it certainly looked interesting. We're now on the west coast of CA and going into San Francisco for 3 nights. Haven't been there since 1966. Looking forward to hearing about your experiences and seeing pics. carold

I get loads of cardinals and blue birds in my backyard but have never seen a tanager. Lovely! Snow at the end of May does seem strange. Looking forward to these weird weather happenings when I get on the road.

What a coinky dink. I am staying at Torrey also. I have reservations for SandCreek RV starting July 1 until September. I wonder if you stayed there too.

From Torrey I plan to do Capital Reef and Monument Valley and whatever else I can fit in...then move down closer to the souther parks, Zion, Bryce, Cedar Breaks...haven't chosen a place to stay down there yet; any suggestions? I don't like big and fantastic RV parks...I like em rural and surrounded by natural settings...I will check your blog for photos of Capital Reef. Have fun in San Francisco. I always enjoyed Sausilito, don't know if it's still wonderful, it's been atnearly 40 years since I've been there.

In the long term camping on BLM land you pay 180 for 6 months think it is from 15 of Sept to 15 of April...there is water and dump you go to it or you can have honey wagon or water wagon come to you..You can't sell on BLM land without a permit but you could look into selling in town...the QIA has a art/craft fair once a month cost 5 dollars each time and 5 to join...Not sure what else you would like to know...we get there sometime in late Nov or early to late Dec usually before Christmas....oh yes when you pay for long term it's good even down on the BLM around Yuma and into CA by Yuma...there is short term camping can stay free for 14 days but have to pick up and move at that time...I'm too lazy to do that...hopefully we will get to meet up down there if you have specific questions ask and I'll try to answer

Yea, I am going to stay the 14 days at Crystal Hill just because my parents loved it there; they stayed there way back in the late 60's thru 70's back in the day when there were no 14 day limits..and the hills and trails were full of amethyst and crystals, calcedony, etc. we had boxes and boxes of those treasures over all these years....anyway, I want to stay where they did then I will head to the LTVA. I know about the fees, etc. but wondered how much the "water and honey wagons cost"; talk about lazy..that sounds fabulous, If it isn't too expensive I'm all for it. I think it cost $50 to be able to sell stuff in the LTVA, but I do plan to go to town and check out the options there too. Thanks for the info..I would like to meet when we are down there, I would probably talk your head right off for the first hour..then I might settle down.
