I remember the 'Unit's' too. My vanity wouldn't let me wear knit much other than shirts, seems my hips look like they've been in a smasher in knit pants, so only for sleeping. I am getting more into comfort and not so much style. When Patty mentioned the dress and shoes that are 13 years old, it brought to mind my bad experiences with shoes ten years and older the last few years. They have literally disintegrated while on my feet and often in very embarrassing places, one time in church :o one in Walmart  one in a wedding  I have started tossing many of them and it makes me sick because they are hardly worn, still in style (sort of), but it's not worth having this happen. At least if you are determined, take an extra pair to slip into if you see it's happening. The last time was some casual slides that had a black rubber sole and a white piece in the middle. These fell apart while in my carport and it looked like someone had smushed a giant oreo cookie

Reading these posts I was surprised to see that I'm not the only one with clothes still in my closet from years ago....However, have to pat myself on the back as I just filled 3 big plastic bags with shirts, socks, pants, handbags, wallets, etc. and gave it to Hope...It's a organization that helps the disabled...
Would like to say that now I'm down to maybe 50 T-shirts.... but can't be sure....Jeans on the other hand are a staple, so those I don't get rid of till the very end...Usually cut the legs off & make shorts....Now dresses that's another matter....I have dresses & suits from years ago when I had to dress professionally, that I probably couldn't even fit into now...but they're still in my closet....I think it's called 'separation anxiety'...maybe I'll get over that in the near future.... :?

Many years ago I bought two complete suits (jacket, vest, pants and skirt), one in black and one in navy. I then bought a few different blouses that would go with each color. I could mix and match and get by for the whole week that way. The suits were machine wash, never did get any dry clean only clothes. I supplemented with different color jackets and pants. The idea worked out really well. Now, I'm just buying for comfort. Linda

I'm a jeans/t shirt gal too except here in FL we go for capris while it is really hot. My idea of dressy is a step up from my casual jeans/capris and a nicer t shirt or other type of casual shirt. If it has to be really dressy, then I'm not going. Probably wouldn't be my idea of fun anyway. As for dresses, fa get about it! Not happening.

Sing along..... Give me jeans, lots of jeans underneath the sky above....don't fashion me in!
