Hauling a scooter question

I was looking at the little electric scooter just for going to the corner store or other nearby places. I think you can use them on bike lanes and other places you would ride a bike. I do ride a bike, just thought one like this would get me where I wanted to go a little faster.

I was hoping to find someone who had used one of these.

The photo of the ramp looks interesting, though, and i have always been in love with the old Vespa scooters. The newer ones really look sharp also.

This comment isn't really about scooters as much as it is about the racks. i bought the rack that fits in my hitch for the infamous scooter (VERY LONG STORY) and never used it. My question now - do you all think it would work to haul my kayak?

I bet you could make it work for the kayak. You might have to make some type of adjustments, or might not. Try it.

Answer...it depends. I don't remember what rack you got but didn't use. Do you have a hard shell or an inflatable. My hard shell had to hang off my ladder. When using a lower rack like the ones I have seen Power chairs and other containers sitting on (I have used one for storage) you have to be very aware of the exhaust and the heat it produces ...things can get very melty back there.......

I don't think exhaust will cause my tail pipe is way up by the rear wheels several feet from the rear bumper. I have a hard shell Kayak. I want to try it and think i could either use bungee cords or those tie down ratcheting type straps to hold in on the rack but how will i know if if falls off while I'm driving ?

Mine showed up (or part of it did) in my rear view camera. I could see an orange blob.......

Tina, do you have any photos of how you rigged your kayak? I had wanted to take my hard shell but don't see how. I did see a rack for a kayak that you put the nose down into and then ratchet it up and tie off in the front of the rig but not seeing how I can do it alone.

The husband made a rack that sort of looked like two hooks/arms and clamped them tightly to one of the top steps. My job (because I travel by myself ) was to lift the kayak straight up and hook the opening over the arms. He then had me use packing straps that can be tightened. One was situated such that the kayak could not "lift" off the arms and the second strap held the body tight to the ladder. It didn't move traveling down the road. Unfortunately it didn't move it much ever as I didn't use it. With extreme effort I could lift it that high but I found it very awkward climbing around the ladder to ensure that the straps were really tight. Apparently he didn't think that bungee cords would hold it. Besides being able to take a dog with me comfortably in the Sea Eagle, I find both the inflatables more stable getting into and out of. I am not an agile, coordinated 61 year old.
