Thanks for checking in and assuring us of your safety...which is what we were most worried about. Everything else is relative. Hang in there, GF! Big hugs to you and yours.

I'm sure all this waiting is nerve racking. Every time I watch the news we hear something different. I don't think they will know what is going to happen until it's over. When we evacuated for Rita I couldn't sleep either. First time I had ever been to Wal-Mart at 4 in the morning.

If you get water in your house and plan on fixing it don't let them disconnect the electricity if you can help it. My DH had it disconnected and to reconnect we would have had to follow all the new rules - elevate, new sewer plant, etc.

Glad to hear you are all settled in for the duration. I bet Martha is right about the waiting, it must be the worst! But good news about the lower water elevations. :) I'm thinking how stressful this would be to my Dad (84) and wondering if in a similar situation we could have gotten him to leave. So how is your Dad handling it all? He's lucky to have you and Sister! Hang in there girl friend, we are all behind you, holding with the amazing strength of the sisterhood! :D

Do you know if or how badly your home was affected? This is all surreal that homes are deliberately flooded. What information is being given to affected homeowners/residents?

My heart goes out to you.

Breaking: Flood Warning for Butte La Rose Cancelled
Posted: May 20, 2011 2:49 PM by Tonya LaCoste & Rob Perillo
Updated: May 20, 2011 3:36 PM

ShareShare Rating: 12345 5.0 (1 vote) The flood warning is cancelled for the Atchafalaya River above Butte La Rose. Today, the stage was 21.1 feet. Flood stage is 25.0 feet.

The National Weather Service has dropped the crest level of the Atchafalaya River at Butte La Rose from 27 feet to 24.5 Friday May 27.

This means that fewer areas will flood in and around the Butte La Rose area northward through Krotz Springs...Flooding of some areas will still be possible however through the first week of June but water levels may be significantly lower as compared with the original Army Corps of Engineers forecast.

Residents are urged to stay apprised of conditions that could change over the next couple of weeks.

Meanwhile the Atchafalaya is still expected to crest in Morgan City near 11ft on May 29th with flooding of low-lying unprotected areas still likely.

Details on Acadiana's News Channel at 5pm...

Edit to add: Praise God!!!

Great news Carolyn. God is Good!!

I posted some pics of the swamp area from Diana, Sharon and Karen and my trip on the swamp tour. Shows what it looked like before. Won't have any comparable after's I don't think. :o

Let out your breath and take it easy for a bit Carolyn, Then you can get up tight on the way back to check it out. Try to not over load your system. Still praying for the you and your neighbors.
