Frosty Tuesday Morning

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Frosty Tuesday Morning

Postby Colliemom » Tue May 17, 2011 7:18 am

Good Morning from the 45th,

A little frosty out there this morning, but bright sunshine is taking care of that. Temp in mid 30's. Been chilly around here these past few days and a stiff N/NE wind to boot. Our growing season officially started May 14th, but it's too cold to do much right now. Feel sorry for the seasonal businesses that are always open to sell flowers, plants etc. as they have been forced to keep the flats of flowers covered to protect them. Went by one yesterday and it was just a maze of white covers over the rows of flats sitting outside. It's a reason I don't plant my flowers till after Memorial Day.

Been busy around here too. Playing catch up with stuff. Shopping, cleaning up house a bit, Dr. appt., cutting grass (in two layers of fleece and gloves with hood up on my jacket) etc. Today I plan to run to the vets for flea meds forthe girls, stop at the RE office and see if an agent I want to talk to is in, then come home and hopefully work in my TT as well as cut my neighbors grass. Supposed to cloud over this afternoon and rain showers moving in again. Weather has been so chilly and damp, I have not been able to work inside my TT at all. Been trying to get down to CW and pick up a few things before I head out on Memorial Day weekend, but so far haven't been able to get away. Next week for sure.

We are starting to get to the end of out heavier physical work at the park. The grounds are looking really good and overall it's great. This coming weekend we are going to open our south campground and the south bathroom bullding. So the entire park will go into operation. This is also the weekend when the site specific reservations start. Meaning that campers can reserve their favorite sites for a given date they want to come up. Course provided somebody else doesn't have it. When the parks go on site specific, if you come in without reservations, you are only guaranteed whatever site may be open, for one night then have to recheck to see if it's open for the next night if you want to stay longer. Some parks including ours, hold off 8% of their sites for first come first serve folks, so those sites can be taken for the entire 15 day stay limit. Memorial Day will be full. Then quiet again till schools are out etc. Before Memorial Day, a bit afterwards and after Labor Day, you can pretty well nail a site with no reservations necessary. But there are parks that have sites open all the time, cause they aren't as popular as others. So this week and next will be pulling together the last of the stuff needing to be done before Memorial Day including the installation of our floating fishing pier. And the swim bouys at the swimming beaches. Cold job that, as it requires the guys to be in the water, brrrr. At least with the pier they can stay on top as it's put together section by section.

So, time to be off and start the day's chores. Have a few other thngs like weed whipping, eventually planting of a few flowers painting of some ties and my deck to do here and should be all caught up with the spring rush of stuff that always needs doing. Then will be just routine maintenance. My neighbor is going to bring me a load of nice brown mulch for my beds around the house soon as he gets his trailer back from one of the kids this week. So will be spreading that out little by little. My apple trees are starting to leaf out and I am keeping my fingers crossed that we don't get another freeze while the blossoms are out.

Have a wonderful day all. Reveal in the moment.

Morning ladies. A bit chilly in Nashville too. 42 at the moment but warming to low 60s. Took a sick day to get a few things done and more importantly, to take the Goddess to the dr. Her knee is really swollen and painful. Not a good thing since this is the knee she had surgery on last fall. She told me she would call the dr. yesterday so I went on to work. I got home to find out she called her PCP to get some pain meds. Not acceptable. I'm worried about the swelling and tenderness behind that knee. I know that she will feel guilty about my using a sick day and will call the ortho who did the surgery. So I guess I'll spend some time in the waiting room, but it's worth it to get her a clean bill of health. Besides, there's really not much teaching going on right now. We're just reviewing for the exams next week and the kids are not really focused. Good time for me to be out. And I may just get a little time in for some weed pulling in the flower beds. Had a call about the house on Sunday evening. Couple wants to come look at the house this week. Fingers crossed and double crossed.

Stay warm. Stay safe.

Today is the big day that I take my old conversion van, now with a new engine, new roof top AC, two captain chairs less.. on its first camping trip.

I have slept many a night in the van over the years.. back when driving about 5000 miles a month for my daughter's taekwondo tournaments. I actually competed a few times.. but I'm horrible. :) Anyway, the van never got used for anything more than Flying J, rest stop type power naps. It has never had its 30amp cord plugged into a camp site.

That changes this week.

Its been fun bringing new life back to this old van and I am looking forward to this trip. Granted, I have a lot to learn about packing and downsizing. I plan on keeping my MH -and- the van and hope to use both through out the coming years.

Cool morning here too, 40 degrees yippee!! I so dread hot weather that I love every cool day we get. I need a summer home on the ocean, ahhh if only.....Trying to get motivated so I made a list of to do things but maybe the list is all I'll get around to today. I think I need a coach Sue, you would be a good, seems like you get all your chores done and help your neighbor.

Good luck on your trip Alice, have fun getting reacquainted with your updated van . Vickie hope the Goddess is better soon I'm keeping fingers crossed the people like your house.

GOOD MORNING ALL!

Good luck with your test run today, Alice! If I hear about someone running over a bike that fell off a van on the news, I will know what happened! It cana't be much fun having this infusion stuff, but, if it's working, I say it's wonderful!

Sue has a full schedule, as usual, frost, and all!

It's a beautiful sunny day here again, and as soon as my sidewalk dries thoroughly from the water I got on it while watering my plants, I am going to try a coat of the paint I bought yesterday at Lowes. If I like it, I'll get more and do the driveway, too. I aso bought a brick-scraper thingy to try to level out my novice paving-repair job before I paint that. It still looks way better than it did, even now, before I repaired it. Last night was cool enough to use my sleeping bag on the porch, and today is just about perfect weather, in the 70s and low 80s.

I'm off now, after I read the posts, on a bike ride while the sidewalk dries. I will miss this bike riding when I get back home. The mountains back there make fun biking prohibitive for me, anyway. I like miles and miles of glorious flatness! I will leave my bike here where it gets used as it should. Having this pond in my back yard has also made canoing a snap as all I have to do is drag it about 100 yards to launch it. (Of course, I can do that at home by my leanto, also, but the 'exploration' of that small lake has long lost its intrigue!) The canals that lead from this pond are so low due to lack of rain that I haven't yet gone all the way to Shingle Creek to explore that this year....perhaps next year. Shingle Creek is miles of exploration, complete with aligators, water moccasins, huge bass and tilapia, turtles, frogs, toads, birds of all sorts, and more.

I hope all are doing ok with whatever the weather in your life. I know that Carolyn probably has it tougher than anyone at this point. I hope to hear something from her soon.

Sue glad you have a day off to catch up at home... Alice enjoy the camping trip... I get a kick out of all of us saying we are camping when we have all of the comforts of home... but it is camping to me! I'm with you Soos flat land is what I can ride on... hope there is not a serious problem with the goddesses knee... pain is no good...
take care everyone

Good morning

I just realized I've lost the entire morning searching internet for an RV. I really did not have that time to spare today.

A cool and cloudy start to the day here; I actually turned the heat back on for a while to chase the chill. It will be hot again soon so no complaints.

Alice - Good luck on your adventure with the van. Please post some photos for us.

I need to rework my to do list as it is now not possible to get to everything today. May have to start rationing computer time if I am to accomplish much.

Have a great day

I did the same thing last night--put together a comparison spreadsheet of three models I liked best and discovered that one had only 1/3 the outside storage of the others! I couldn't manage full-time on only 35 cu ft of outside storage! Warrantees were different also--one with a lot of storage only had a one-year, 12,000 mile warrantee.

I'm home from work this chilly and windy day. I did not get to sleep until 6:00 am this morning. I've been having some twinges and aches and pain that feels like a bladder infection, but I am pretty sure I passed a small stone last week. Dozed off and on this morning after I got myself well dosed with pain meds. COuld just not manage to go into work. Waiting to hear from the doctor on next step--urologist or GYN.

Just past noon here in the PNW , AND "the sun is shining, the sun is shining"!!
From now until Friday we are to have the warmest temps so far this year, in the low 70s!
That's perfect weather for me!

I was planning on taking Little Missy out this week for her shakedown run but now the lawyer wants to meet on Thursday.
As I was sitting in the Dr's office this morning my DD calls. My youngest GD is having her field trip on Thursday and my DD had signed up to chaperone, BUT my middle GD left this AM with her class to go to CISPUS for the week and Thursday is 'parents day' and would I be interested in making the 2 1/2 hr drive so she would have some family there for the day? My SIL has a Dr appt on Thursday so he can't go. He thinks he's passing another stone. Why does everything have to happen on Thursday this week?!?

By the way, my Dr appt went well! She took me off my cholesterol meds! :D Really strange as my weight has soared, but my HDL levels are the lowest since 2001. She still wants my weight down, but, then, I knew that. ;)

Alice, have fun!
Hope the Goddess's knee is an non event situation.
Carolyn, still lifting you and the others in your area/flood plains, in prayer. Haven't forgotten the tornado victims, either. God knows how to direct my prayers....
