I would like to try and come to this but am afraid to commit this far out. Going for job interview as demonstrator at local Sam's Club on Friday. After that, I should know more about both my schedule and my $$. My younger son in getting married next year and I promised to help pay for it plus the older one moved back in a year ago but hasn't worked in about 6 months. But I definitely want to make this one and meet some more of you ladies. I love this area of PA and if I come I'd love to go to the Hershey RV show too. It would be cool to actually attend the one i always watch on TV! I can also personally verify that Shady Maple is a place not to be missed!

I've been spending time making a list of the places I want to take everyone while here. Since we can't do it all - think we'll have one good sightseeing day, with another optional - if that works for everyone. The sightseeing day will include An Amish Experience including touring inside an Amish home and a buggy ride, I think, as well as stopping at the Intercourse Canning Company and a Pretzel Factory. How's that sound? After all that touring, maybe that's a good day to spend more money and eat out at Shady Maple - especially if we can get there for the lunch prices. hahaha - am I cheap or what?

C'mon, folks - those who haven't made reservations yet - it's time. We can do lots without leaving here, also - how about our own mini-golf tournament? Hmmm - I might even provide prizes for that.

And we'll have use of a gazebo with a firepit - across from where your sites are. I'm sure we'll spend lots of time there!

Bumping this thread to the top to remind people to make reservations if you know you can make it :)

Dee is now signed up for the GTG. She has a prior commitment and can only come for a couple nights, but is signed up to be with us. YAY! I updated the first post to include her. C'mon ladies - get your reservations in - there are still sites on hold in our area.

You wanna know something stoopid? I first thought the get-together was in Gettysburg because of the abbreviation GTG .

Dee, you fit right in with us :)

I had a home-cooked meal at an Amish famiies home last night. Before leaving I made tentative arrangements to do this with our gtg group. Tentative only in that I have to call her to work out which day. The food was wonderful. I'm STILL full. It was an experience I thought would probably be only once-in-a-lifetime, so I feel very lucky I'll be able to do it twice.

The cost will be $15 a person. It's served family style, and they bring out more and more as needed. We can ask questions on just about any subject. And they'll show us around if asked. Their garage is so different from ours, but at first glance you only think garage. Then you see the horse stalls :) I hope everyone wants to go. I'll need a head count about 2 weeks in advance so they can plan the amount of food necessary. There's no tipping - well, the way you can tip is by purchasing cards made by the children ($1 each) or the Mom's cookbook ($5) if you want. It's not required.

I really am looking forward to going back and taking all of you with me!

Oh Beth, that sounds like such a good plan, I wish I could be there. They don't like pictures taken of them, but maybe some of the outside of the house or barn etc. we can look forward too. At least hope someone will go into detail as to the time spent there. That sounds like a wonderful outing !!! You did good (my opinion)

CArol, wish you could be here also. We were able to take 2 group pics last night - didn't ask about the premises - will do so when we go back. Have to be very careful not to offend, though, especially as even though we are paying, we are guests in their home. But you know, if there is a way, we'll find it. And if not with pictures, we'll have to do a good job with words. And, CArol, it's not too late for you to join us :)

Oh yeah, she fits right in...only one of us can get Gettysburg out of GTG. Almost as bad as me thinking Marslet was going to the wrong GTG in Arkansas 'cause she used some southern abreviation for it...
