Cool Saturday

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Cool Saturday

Postby Colliemom » Sat May 14, 2011 6:22 am

Morning,

A cool cloudy Saturday morning here in northern Michigan. Not going to be the greatest day they say. Highs in 50's with north winds and rain showers around. Typical of this up and down spring here.

Not lot of camps in the park either. But Memorial Day is showing us to be all but full and those remaining sites will go before then. Hopefully the weather will cooperate for all of us and be nice and sunny. I have reservtions to camp on Sunday and Monday nights of theat weekend as well, but at another park, not the one I work at.

We had a very physical work day at park again yesterday. 5 of us gals took the trailer we use to haul leaves etc. and our one Gator down on the south beach and spent the entire morning raking and pincking up leaves and the remains of whatever debris was laying on it from the winter. With all the rain we hve been having, that sand weighed a ton. And with sand and wet leaves mixed together, it was very heavy lifting it all up and raking. And being soft beside, we have to shove the equipment out of being stuck twice. Needless to say, we were very tired when we finished. That section of beach is about the equivalant of a tenth of a mile or so. But with the water being high right now, it is only about 10 feet wide if even that. Same places, barely a foot. Then in the afternoon, some of us were off to picking up logs and branches from more tree cutting. And picking up sticks here and there. Also removed a pile of wet heavy leaves from the bottom of one of the stairways to the beach so folks can get down there. Will pick them up later when we get out bigger 4x4 Gator back from repair. Yesterday before we left for home, the bosses acknowledged all our hard work and thanked us for doing it over this past couple of weeks or so. We know we are getting toward the end of it.

I wxpect today to be a bit quieter especially if it rains. There are only two of us working on the bldg. maintenance crew today, the other two are off. So Barb and I should have an easy day. Usualy on weekends, we don't do a lot of work in the park iteself as visitors are around. Will be nice to have a bit slower day for a day. Shall see when we get to work.

Neighbors garage sale did really well yesterday. They sold over $450 worth of stuff. Today it will be open again and then since the neighbor is heading to FL for a bit next week, a friend is going to open it next weekend as neighbor across the road is also having one, so two will draw in people. Neighbor an dI went out for dinner last night. I had to run into Walmart as well. Needed some dog treats. Can't let them run out you know
Time to get ready to head for the park. Enjoy the day all.

GOOD MORNING SUE AND ALL!

You sure had a busy day yesterday! That's the kind of work I love to do, actually. I really have to think about getting a work-camp job for next year somewhere. The income would be wonderful, and I could get more exercise.

We finally got our first rain in months yesterday afternoon! Molly and I had decided to go for a walk in the woods along Shingle Creek, and we explored other trails back there, as well. When we broke free of the woods again, I could see a menacing black-looking sky and was hearing distant thunder. We stepped up our pace toward home and arrived just in the nick of time as a bol of lightning hit a pole in our neighborhood! CRACK! I quickly shut up my truck windows and we high-tailed it for inside as the skies opened up with welcome rain.
Now I know how quickly storms can become dangerous around here-----it was almost as if the storm had been far away and then, from nowhere, came the lightning strike! It smells so good out there this morning with everything still wet and juicy-looking. Our resident wild turkey is going through our yard grasses for bugs for its breakfast. More rain and showers are expected for this afternoon, which will be very good. Actually, for the next couple of days, we might get rains.

Today Carolyn should know what will happen to her home in Butte LaRose. We are all thinking of you, Carolyn.

Today's plans? None at the moment. "It's too wet to plow," as we used to use for an excuse to be lazy back home!

I will watch more jurror interviews and decisions to use them or not for Casey Anthony's upcoming trial down here. True TV is covering it all. It's interesting to me to see just what goes on in this process, and hear what questions they ask. I have never sat on a jury, and I can tell you I would NOT wish to be sitting on this one involving a possible death penalty if a verdict of guilty is reached. I am learning much about court law and our judicial system. But I am too biased about Casey's guilt already to ever be chosen for this trial. I've been following the case since the beginning in 2008. My decision would be to kill the girl in the same manner she killed her two-year-old daughter.

Time for more coffee and to read other posts. Stop by and tell us about your day!

Happy travels!

good morning ladies
suppose to be a hot one today, lunch at Sweet Tomatoes with daughter and then a few chores before I go to work.
A trip to Home Depot for a project pricing day and stop at the post office to check my mail. Really got a chuckle
at myself last night when I realized I had FORGOT it was payday. huh, how can I forget such a thing? Even had to
think about WHICH payday it was. LOL, who would have thought I'd ever see the day when both paychecks are
sitting in the bank untouched and everything is paid and current. Guess its safe to say I can go shop for tires
now. :D Also need to get the girls in for a dental. Will keep that in the back of my mind.
Time to get dressed and toss in a load of laundry and begin my Saturday routine. Enjoy your day.

Cloudy and possibly rain or snow later. Too bad because Bobby's choir group is supposed to sing the national anthem at a lacrosse game tonight.

Mostly a boring day for me, so someone else needs to go out and have a good time today.

Ava, I hope those checks get together and start reproducing for you.

Good morning!
I have been laying low these past few days. I had a whooping cough vac. last Thurs. and my arm has been sore plus my joints being achy, too. I did a bit of yard work yesterday. Mowed the back yard and cleaned the gutters and roof on the front half of the shed. Inside I got the floors swept and rugs washed. Then I crashed.

I still have been reading the forum, keeping up with you all, especially those in the flood plain. I am sure stress levels are over the top. Continued prayers.

Take care!

Good morning ladies!

It's still morning in MD, but not for long. It rained here overnight and we're supposed to have showers off & on all weekend. We knew the showers were coming, so we stayed home rather than go camping. Our veggie garden is loving the showers. There is something about rain water that the vegetable plants seem to need that tap water doesn't do, because the plants looks so much better. I thought I was going to lose most of the plants from wind burn, but most of the plants are showing signs of new growth, so I'm hoping they'll all survive.

I've got the weekly grocery shopping done and made cucumber salad and macaroni/shrimp salad to take to my parents house. I'm also going to make mashed potatoes & porchops for their dinner, but I'll make that at their house. Hubby has a cold and isn't feeling up to snuff so he isn't sure if he's going to go with me.

My sister that was in Shock Trauma was moved yesterday evening to a rehab center in Baltimore. Depending on how she does there will determine when she gets to go home. If hubby is feeling better tomorrow, perhaps we can go see her. I don't like driving in Baltimore and would prefer if he was behind the wheel for that trip.

Take care everyone and enjoy your day. Carolyn, my thoughts are with you.

Ditto! Never thought of your last sentence. I like it, however.
I feel the most sorry (well, besides that beautiful little girl) for the hapless George (Anthony, not my George... )

Good Morning ladies from cool rainy Normal... the hot spell was broken last night... my neighbor was suppose to start her new deck this weekend but :( rain is holding that job off... she even took yesterday off from work... well better luck next weekend...

Yesterday turned out to be a huge hassle... had to go to the doctor office... both of my ears have some sort of an infection! not inside but outside.... it weeps and causes a crust all over my ear... it is clear and odorless... and ITCHES awful.... got two prescriptions... that was all the easy part... went to one pharmacy they did not have one of them so they called wal mart they had it... went there... they said it would be 45 minutes so I shopped... went back about an hour later... they said the pharmacist wanted to speak to me... one of the medicines would cost $144.79 yikes I said no way would I buy it... had to call the dr office... he said to the pharmacist to give me something that had a steroid and antibiotic in it... drops to put in my ear... for some reason when I got into the car I opened both packages and WHAT in one was the expensive med I had not paid for that one... so back into the wal mart I went... asked to speak to the pharmacist he was shocked to say the least... he said you bought this back in? I said well yes I did not pay for it... he was visibly shaken and kept thanking me... that was so funny... oh another bump in the road... now it is 3pm... missed the trial of casey... :(

I have served on 3 trials... the first a murder trial... the next a civil (I was the one that got dumped at the end of the trial odd woman out) ... the next criminal case (drugs)... I say they were very interesting cases... could write a book about these experiences for sure... the Casey Anthony trial has fascinated me from day one... I also feel she is guilty... however I wish our system could also place some responsibility on the dysfunctional family of origin... what a zoo that family was and is... I have felt bad about my birth family but tried to better myself... not to say it was easy it was not I did not even get therapy until I was 50 so you can teach old dogs new tricks!!

Sadly as some may have seen Butte Larose will be destroyed when they open the spillway... how very sad... it is a trade off which places are to be destroyed... Carolyn my prayers are with you... this must be one of the hardest thing of your life... take care...

May each of you struggling with trials keep your head held high and walk into the wind...

It's 55 and raining here today and I love it! This week has been way too hot and humid for me so will take the cool as long as it lasts without complaint.

Kathleen I can relate to your story about returning the prescription. The time I remember most when I tried to be honest was when my bank made an error on a wire transfer to Europe, they did the exchange wrong over $2,000.00 in my favor! I went into the bank when I saw what happened and tried to tell them, at first they just said oh no we didn't make a mistake and I said I think you did. Well a couple of the other tellers were listening and then they started laughing as they all tried to tell me no mistake had been made, so....I walked out a happy camper and felt not one ounce of guilt. I worked in banking for several years and I was afraid someone would be in a lot of trouble but, guess now days they didn't worry if they don't balance every day.

My heart is heavy for Carolyn.

Morning is long gone but I wasted the entire day working on someone else's computer. Nope.. no warm fuzzies about doing it either - as the work was not what I advised or what was needed... but I did it anyway to make a friend happy. I should feel good about it instead of complaining but I selfishly feel my own plans bit the dust today.

I'm just being a grump because I had hoped to play with the van today - now that the awning is in and to NEVER be let out again. I decided that I am -not- taking my trike on this trip.. too big.. takes up too much space. Taking my old blast from the past light weight ten speed schwinn instead.

Hopefully, when my rv is out of the shop and I have a trial run under my belt with the van, I can decide if adding an electric awning would be worth while. Even though it would add nothing more than the illusion of more room.. I think that might be quite desirable.

I really don't use the awning that often on my rv but heck.. with 38.5 feet of interior room and a full slide out.. I don't feel cramped. Those that have seen my rv, know that I prefer wide open interior space...and if something can be removed, it is. :)

Tomorrow.. yard work.. tons of it so I'm not sure if I'll have time top play with the van. I need to get in there and stack, arrange... learn how to pack tight. This is such a fun adventure and sure has taken the edge off the rv being in the shop!
