WARM WEDNESDAY

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

WARM WEDNESDAY

Postby Nasoosie » Wed May 11, 2011 6:57 am

GOOD MORNING ALL!

It's nice and cool here so far today, with a nice breeze, but is predicted to break heat records later on. Other than making a little path of pavers along the side of the house between the closest neighbor, I have about run out of things to do here. Oh no----I would still like to paint the driveway, too. Perhaps today would be a good day to tackle that. The head of the homeowners' association has no records/files/folders of what colors are appropriate and acceptable for painting one's driveway, so I've opted to go with neon purple! Just kidding! will match the curent color as closely as possible and go with that. Guess it's off to Lowes to get the paint now. I need to wash the driveway first, however.

I have 12 members for my website now who can view the entire thing. Guess I'd better get back to making it better to visit!

I hope the weather is good wherever you are, and that your travels are safe.

Happy travels!

Good morning from NC. Sarah and I are relaxing here at Carolinagal's, honing our card playing skills. We're looking forward to a gtg later this week with Nan and Carolyn (Sunshinecruiser). Weather is getting warm in the afternoons, but cools down at night...can't complain.

I'm still praying for those in danger of flooding of the Mississippi. My friend who lives on the shores of Lake Champlain in Vt is also being affected by flooding there. Haven't heard back directly from her if her house is in danger, but it certainly could be. And the national news reported roads on the island (Grand Isle) are flooded, so her access in or out may be blocked.

Sarah just read that power is out in the Huntsville area again due to higher demand with the heat wave, and them using just patched/temporary power lines. Glad she didn't restock her refrigerator/freezer yet. She hasn't heard from her sister/niece if they have power outages or not.

Everyone stay safe and have some fun today.

Hi Soos, Liz and everyone who follows :) , it's HOT here too. Thunder storms and a few drops of rain. So wish water could be diverted to this dry state! Well, it *could* be, but not likely to happen in our lifetimes. :D .

I finally made the leap into Facebook. Maybe I am missing something but am having a tough time finding people, seems like many have profiles blocked to all but friends. Am I missing something? I do like the way it knits groups of people who know each other together, that's fun! And thanks to all of you who have accepted my friends request. :)

Really need to get moving to do some household chores. Camping out Friday night with DD, DGD, and a little friend. Only 10 minutes from home, little girls don't care as long as they are sleeping in a tent!

Have a great day!

We are having record breaking temps here too, thankfully supposed to end tomorrow. I had a good visit with the daughter of my best friend from high school yesterday. We went to a small BBQ place near my hometown and it was like a reunion of old friends. My brother came in, a man who was raised a couple of doors down from my friend, a couple who lives down the street from me now and a man I used to co-own an Irish Setter with! The daughter sounds exactly like her mom and as she passed away a few years ago it was a bit discerning but also in a way comforting. The BBQ was so-so but they had fabulous fresh strawberry shortcake made with mashed berries slightly sweetened and served over perfect flaky homemade pie crust, the local way to make shortcake.

Diana on facebook, when sending a friend request to a forum member I find it helps to put your forum 'name' in the request, there is a place to send a message along with your request.

Well I've quit for the day and it is only ten oclock, that's the great thing about retirement you can set your own hours :D When it is this hot an humid I tire quickly even with the A/C on, I have accomplished quite a bit for someone whose sleep has been interrupted by dogs who can't get their sleeping situation sorted out. My DH is away for a few days and bed time is bedlam as Andy now wants to sleep with me and since Winnie has been banished from bed, if I let him up she is NOT happy and lets me know. New rule, NO dogs sleep with mom!!

Nice week at work so far. No one is trying to "supervise" me or pressure me on my projects. Just go in and do my work--how nice. Quiet and got a lot done.

Wish I were not tied to this desk and could get out and enjoy the 77 degree weather we are supposed to have today in Southeastern Michigan. Sigh.

Morning, ladies!

Not much on the agenda for today, but you never know what the day will bring. Today it's been one year already that I lost my baby sister, on her 57th birthday. Gosh, time keeps marching on..

Last night I got a text from my niece who is on her way back to Illinois after a great visit with me. She was stopping for the night in Iowa and will be home later today she said. She said the road construction (I believe she was taking I-80), was horrendous, between Idaho and Wyoming. Lots of road construction!

Yesterday I took the IRS letter I got, concerning my X's back taxes, to the lawyers for him to take care of. A bit later the lawyer called and asked if I had the keys to my X's boat as he and the mooring place were working together to get the bank to repo it and kept forgetting to ask if I had them. My SIL has all keys (boat, RV, truck, motorcycle etc). About 10 mins later the lawyer calls again and says they are going to repo the boat tomorrow (today now), and needs the keys first thing in the AM. So I drove up to my SIL's house to retrieve the keys and then stopped by the lawyers to drop them off. So hopefully all that goes well and I will be rid of the boat. That just leaves the IRS and a credit card debt to deal with legally. The motorcycle is listed on Craigslist and my SIL got a call from a guy who is really excited to see it, on Saturday. Fingers crossed it will sell! That will leave just the RV to get rid of. Starting to see a bit of light at the end of the tunnel...

Beautiful day, yesterday, but rain returning around noonish. Even new snow in the Cascades! :x

Thinking of you all.....

Hello everyone!

It's no longer morning on the east coast but I wanted to check in. I've only been in my office for about an hour today. My sister has lupus and RA and she twisted her ankle this morning so badly that she ripped her flesh. After calling 911 and going to the hospital with her, it was determined that the doctor's at the hospital couldn't do anything for her since it was an open fracture and she needed to be transported to Shock Trauma in Baltimore. Hopefully they will operate on her this afternoon and she can start healing. She has had lupus for about 20 years and between the Prednisone and other meds she is on, her skin is brittle and bones are fragile.

I stopped at my parents house on the way home from the hospital to check in with them, before returning to my job. They are doing fairly well considering everything they've been through. need to prepare some more meals for them so they have some home cooked meals in the house.

I hope everyone here is well & safe.

It is actually warmer in Minneapolis than it is here! Guess I picked the wrong week to go up there! Looks like the jet stream has moved north now and with the warm weather, they are getting lots of storms with it as well, possibly severe. I like garden variety thunderstorms but don't like the severe stuff!

Being lazy this morning, slept in late. Gotta find someone to help me bring up the reclining chair I bought last night at the Salvation Army. It is still out in my car. Got a few more little things to do and then off to work later this afternoon.

Diane, I am still holding out on the Facebook thing! Just seems too complicated and time consuming. I tried it once and kept getting messages (every day) that I needed to change my password because someone was trying to use it, but FB wouldn't let me change it once I got in there. I had all these people I didn't even know wanting to be my friend, etc. If someone wants to communicate with me, they can e-mail me or check my blog. Maybe someday I will give in and try it again

Hope you all have a great day!

Mid-afternoon here. Have been going since we got up this morning. Since it's the first of two days off in a row and great weather for both, we started today with a very, very long walk. Then, Peaches needed to be at the vet's for a shot at 10:30 - just routine. We took a ride after that - stopped at Walmart and got the aerobic step Alice and Pete both recommended to me to use as my outside step. I did have one with no "advertising" that I gave away when I took off full-time. Who'd of thought I'd even need it? Anyway, this one advertises Gold's Gym. So I figure whenever I enter or leave, I'm getting my exercise, right? And if you come visit and step on it you will, too, right. hahaha

We did some more scenic driving and a couple other stops then came back and with the help of a couple I'm friends with here, set-up the screen room I was lucky enough to get from Soos, through Alice at the FL gtg. (turns out Soos already had one, so passed it on to me - YAY and thank you again - I will be in there a lot this season, I'm sure). Cleaned the table and chairs and rug before moving them inside. Hopefully this will keep them from getting so terribly dirty like they have been. Moved the picnic table right next to the rig to use for cooking outside (crockpot, George Foreman, etc) as I prefer to do that outside when the weather permits. While in FL I tossed the table that traveled 6 years with me. Might or might not replace it one day - as this is working for now.

The birds don't seem to like the bird seed I bought this last time as much. But they do come check it out regularly. I'm looking and listening to a very loud woodpecker out there right now.

I'll get out take pics of the site with the screen room later. Then the challenge will be to upload and post here or on my blog with them. I'm so behind on doing any of that.

Here's hoping and praying for all those being effected by the flooding, weather, etc.

Good afternoon from far sw corner of NC.
Such a great lazy couple of days here. Liz and I went into Murphy earlier for groceries; nice drive. We worked in a card game when we returned.

Last report indicates power back on in Huntsville and most of county after last evenings outage. It was wide spread but only a few hours in duration. Niece was without power for while but sister did not loose hers. Nieces also report sister continuing to do well.

I had originally planned to go back home Thursday but with prospect of more sisters to visit here and power outages at home, decided not to rush back.

I do hope all in path of flood waters are safe.
